"The first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinski’s show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers - loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.
“Do you like Kyle Kulinski?”
The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on TH-cam. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.
“He understands what we’re up against,” Ahmed said. “Like Bernie.”
But I was surprised to hear Kulinski’s name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinski’s show struck me as mostly capital-P “progressive” takes on the news - the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.
It’s an impression that wasn’t entirely incorrect.
“I have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,” Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. “I don’t want to hear about Lenin. I don’t want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.”
With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on TH-cam, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do - even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinski’s.
While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinski’s fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, he’s closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.
But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks - who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago - the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on “the Millennial Left” pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinski’s name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “the Squad” to power.
Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? “There is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,” according to one moderator. In new media, he’s king - the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, he’s nobody.
I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing “cool” about Kulinski’s show. (As a friend put it, “‘Welcome to Secular Talk’ sounds like something you’d hear on Egyptian radio.”) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics won’t get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as “Dirtbag Left.” Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. “Not only have I not attended one,” he says, “I have no idea what that means.”
And yet he’s astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Rogan’s wildly popular show, introduced them. “You make the most sense to me,” Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. “You’re a normal person.”
Much like Sanders himself, Kulinski’s show has a massive audience that just doesn’t compute with our media’s understanding of “what the kids want” or even “what the left-wing kids want.”
It’s probably for the best - the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. “Corporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all - class issues,” he said on a recent episode.

I don’t know why Candace didn’t just say, “Yes, it’s a genocide.” But she did ask Piers a good question: “Do you think Israel is unintentionally bombing hospitals, schools, and UN buildings?” (which he didn’t answer)
She did well to point that out and at one point in the debate, he had sweat on his forehead.

I actually didn’t like this segment at all. I don’t like candace at all but she absolutely ran circles around piers Morgan. She had great explanations and understanding of how our jaded political system works in the United States. To her you both sit up here and basically cry about how much you don’t like her was very disappointing to me because I watch your show daily. Very very very disappointed in this segment today

This guy is misrepresenting what Candace said in an interview that lasted over one hour. She specifically asked Piers: how many more Palestinian need to die for it to be called a genocide? By saying that she is calling it a genocide! Total misrepresentation. Piers had an embarrassing presentation of his case. Totally out of league. She pushed him to the limit and it was obvious he wasn’t ready to debate her.

I have to say, I sympathize with Candace, because it is clear that her heart is for the Palestinians, but for her career she would get into far more trouble than any of her previous comments or controversies. I think that there is an opening on the right, with folks like her and Tucker Carlson, who are recognizing that this 'special relationship' is not in America's interest. I just watched her interview with Briana, who was just fired from Rising, and I have to say that there is a lot of common ground on this issue between the new left and new right. 😄

Yeah, I had trouble watching this clip after they stopped showing Candace, because it just felt dismissive, and just a bit like junk politics, like tabloid talk, no offense to the hosts. In fact, one of my issues with the left pundits in general is that they always have a tone of dismissing or feeling superior, or just not being fun to be around, it wasn't always like this. Yeah, and I agree about your frustration that the hosts didn't do a better job of supporting Candace, you would think that political pundits would see an opportunity. There is currently no ideological left and right. Both mainstream/moderate left and right are Jewish so what's left is far left and far right which are the only places where Palestinians plight is being discussed with an actual ideology/agenda-backing.
So I wouldn't fret over seemingly contradictory by supporting Palestinians as a conservative cuz even progressives are afraid to openly support Palestinians.

Why is so many people focused on the word "genocide" and "anti-semitic"? What's wrong with just saying, too many people are dying? Just because Kyle or Candace or piers or Krystal say these words, they aren't ICC prosecutors or judges.
It's not that she didn't want to call it a genocide, it's that she knew Pierce would try to find some definition of genocide that she doesn't agree with, then the whole conversation would become a back and forward on the definition rather than the reality of what's happening.
To be fair, the definition he read is the only definition that matters. I think Israel's plan is more ethnic cleansing than genocide. But both are really bad.
This is a disappointing segment. Candace was making intellectual arguments and forcing Piers to critically think when using the term genocide because without a definition, it is meaningless. When Piers mentioned "intentional" as part of the definition, Candace was trying to get Piers to answer whether bombing hospitals by Israel would be considered intentional.
Have a lot of issues with Candace Owens but boy did she navigate and argue feriously well in much of this interview around the Israel-Gaza question. She very skillfully exposed her ambush and smear by the Daily Wire.

Piers didn’t cite the actual LEGAL definition of genocide. He simply looked up the word in the dictionary and concluded nope, this isn’t one. But in fact, the definition is less specific: harming members of the group and making their conditions unlivable also constitute genocide. THIS IS IMPORTANT.

This was a very disingenuous conversation between Kyle and Krystal. I am a lawyer with a master's in international law and even I cannot say definitively if it is a genocide. This question is currently being deliberated by legal scholars and the international courts. Candace is not a lawyer or legal scholar. She gave the appropriate response to this question. People who are pro-Palestine are upset by her response because they want to call it a genocide, but legally-speaking, even most legal scholars cannot agree on this term. I can say definitively that war crimes and crimes against humanity have been committed by Israel, but I cannot say definitively that Israel is committing a genocide. The international courts will have to make that determination as they assess the evidence before them.
Candace brought up Christian persecution because Piers kept asking her why she did not talk about the October 7 Israel attack on her Twitter. She responded saying that she is not obligated to talk about that when she is first and foremost a Christian and Israel is supplying the arms to commit a genocide against Armenian Christians. This is a perfectly valid response to this question.
If saying Christ is King is antisemitic, then so is saying Allāhu ʾakbar. You cannot control how other people perceive your statements. However, everyone has the constitutional right to express their religions freely however they want. Christ is King is literally in the Bible.
Regarding the controversy around the French Prime Minister's "wife", it is not Candace Owens who made this up. It is a story that was pursued for years by French journalists who are now being targeted by the State. All you have to do to debunk this story is to produce one photo from the first 30 years of Brigitte Macron's life. Instead, they are sending the Secret Service after the journalists and taking them to court. There is definitely a story here.
Regarding the Kanye West story, Candace provides the context of what he was trying to say and his mental health issues at the time which most people were well aware of. I do not know anyone who took Kanye's tweet literally. Piers himself interviewed Kanye and said that he knows what Kanye was trying to say.
People should just go read the comments on Piers Morgan's channel to see what the vast majority of people think about the interview. 99% of comments are in support of Candace Owens. Kyle and Krystal don't like her, so they are highly biased and disingenuous in their commentary here. It is unfortunate because Krystal is usually level-headed on her Breaking Points show.
