Tire looks brand new I like that look! When I clean my tires I use a cardboard cutout that I made just for my rim size and I put a drawer knob in the middle of it so I can hold it up to cover my rims. Super easy to make and only takes one hand with the knob in the middle of it to hold up while I spray shinny stuff on my tires. I cant believe you knew this was paint and you didnt cover the rims Scott!
Believe it or not, the best tire dressing I have ever used is black Kiwi shoe polish the wax stuff. I use it on my motorcycle tires mainly because it doesn't slip on the road if some of it gets on the tread area. It requires a little more elbow grease but lasts about 3 to 4 weeks even after thunder storms. I got the idea from when I was in the marines, when were deployed we always left our inspection boots at the barracks, but after being deployed for a year and not wearing the boots for a year the souls would crack and split. So we started putting shoe polish on the souls of our boots and it wood keep the rubber preserved until we got back. Plus the more you buff it after application the more shine you get. Had a hard time releasing this info because only Marines know it but you have a great channel and really seem to enjoy helping people so why not return the favor. Try it sometime Scott, I think you'll be impressed. You'll need a small brush applicator (approx. 1.5 inches in diameter and, you can use any junk towel that's clean of dirt to wipe it off and polish it. *Just do it after cleaning the tire with any APC*
When I was in the Marine Corps I used to get either a spray can or tube of silicone from one of my buddies in the Comm unit and use it on my 1978 Pontiac Bandit Trans AM. That stuff lasted forever through rain and snow. It never deteriorated the tires. I was in the Corps from 1982 - 1986.
I've used wood varnish in a spray can, it actually worked the best and lasts like a year though everything. Dirt doesnt stick! Eventually starts to flake off a little but not bad. Just wash and re-spray
I'm sure someone is laughing and some will probably bad mouth you for doing this. I for one am not laughing or by any means thinking anything negative. If you don't try it how will you know. It may last and be a great product. Little more time on prep so the cleanup is easier or now we know that their cleanup idea doesn't work and we can skip that and have one that will work ready. Or it will not last and your video just saved someone a bunch of time and money and we know not to think about putting into arsenal. Keep up the great work and putting your videos out. You have been a great help and I truly appreciate what you do. And I can't wait to try my new DPC products and luxury microfiber towels. Thanks again and God Bless you Scott and all your loved ones.
Also I would suggest that when doing such a tedious job of that detailed nature I would jack up the car just enough to allow the tire to spin freely so that 100% of the tires face can be completely covered without any issues plus that would also allow one to lay another piece of cardboard under the tire so there is no clean up required on the driveway or garage floor. Plus one more thing I would do is lay a clean garage used towel or something in that manner that you don't much care for so if it got over spray on it oh well and drape it across the fender and door for those that aren't as careful so one's pride and joy you are making look even better stays that way. Just my opinion though. Always ❤️ your videos Scott great job as always. 👊
This is a very cool idea !....I used to use a product called “tire black” when I was a teenager in the 70’s...this was the only tire black product at the time...years before the tire treatments we know today...I liked it and I like this also !....I’m going to try it too...and I will definitely mask off the mag wheel !...nice job again Scott..!.....
Take a 1/8 piece of plywood cut to the size of the wheel. Cut hand or finger holes in the middle. You can tape it in a couple places to hold it in place or just hold it in place
I used Kiwi liquid sole and heel edge dressing on my 18wheeler for 15yrs. I used foam brushes to apply. When it dries it resists dirt dust road grime and salty roads. It has to wear off generally about 60k to 70k miles. Close in on my truck picture on my email pic to the left to see my results.
as a youngster, we used a DuPont product called tire black. it was like basically an asphalt type product but was black, shiny and lasted pretty good. brushed it on with a paint brush
Appreciate the video! Did you ever do a follow-up? I'm curious because I'm interested in giving it a try. Just wondered how well it held up, if it held up at all.
I use a car wash and wax liquid for the paint and tires. For tires, I add a layer of the cheapest spray foam tire shine. Then I add a second layer of the cheapest squirt bottle of tire shine on top. No rubbing. It does not last very long, however only takes a few seconds to put on and does not cost much.
My ocd is driving me crazy about the section that is on the ground! i always have to pull forward to get the area on the ground when putting a tire shine on....but that does look like a nice shine scott hope it holds up if so im sold!👍
it is interesting if nothing else. It does look like it has a nice finish, not too wet looking, but gives a nice dark black. Wonder how it looks dirty?
I made a cardboard rim protector, the diameter of my rims, with finger holes in it. I use it when I'm applying tire dressing spray. Might have helped here. Also noticed the driveway now has shiny black tire paint on it. Wonder how long that will take to wear off.
I’ve been using the clear version for the last 5 years. They just changed the name to tire “paint”. It used to be called coating or tire shine. It’s amazing!!!!!
Jason Currington I’ve tried the black and I’m not impressed. It was dull and turned my driveway concrete black! The clear is by far the better product for me.
Agreed with that last post- You are the Man. Thanks for the great videos and thanks for risking it all. and... Holy shit man, You sound like Howard Stern- dude, that’s pretty freakin cool brother!!
I remember back in the day when detailers would paint the tires and wheel wells black back in the day. To get a car ready for resale.. I called them detail cheats...
Hey scott.maybe have an old hub cap, the same rim size as your rims, and use it as a shield while spraying.i THINK I made this method up.i have not heard of anyone using this technique in all the years I have been watching you tube.good idea?let's see if it goes viral in the detailing world.
it looks nice but i got a feeling 90% acetone is melting the rubber under the microscope lol??? hope the tyres dont burst? dont you think its dangerous?
It washes off, after the first scrub, during a routine wash. A maintenance wash? I thought it shouldn’t wash off, and one application, lasts one year? Not true!
Lol. Our mechanics at work ( a large delivery company) would just paint the tires with gloss black automotive paint when the truck was serviced. Actually looked great.
May have to assemble the tires from the wheels to do this. I wouldn't risk the over spray without the right removal. This is what some used tire shops use on their tires
I have used duplicolor it is legit also turtle wax endura shine tire coating is good but not made any more. It flakes if u Meade up prep. Great looking tire
Just make 4 . And in my eyes it's well worth it to do that than chance over spray on my vehicle. It's all about being professional especially when doing a customer's vehicle they would expect the detailer they are paying to treat there vehicle like it was a showroom car or truck no matter what it is they are doing
I'm not to sure about this product yet but I have used their interior dye(paint) and I was shocked. Had that car for 4 yrs with that interior paint on it and it looked just as good as when I first did it.
Did you find it? It’s made by jetstream aviation they are actually based in Dallas it’s used for pneumatic de-ice boots for aircraft and I am wondering if they could be used in the same manner on tires they last a while on aircraft And leave no oil or greasy Residue. The shine on the boots is Extremely reflective and dry to the touch.
Get a big cardboard box and cut out the size of the rim and make some holes in it right in the center like you do a bowling ball. And then you can hold it up to the rim while you are spraying this stuff on. This is what I did and I don't have to worry about any overspray.

Well shoot. I thought you'd have a follow up after several months at the end of this video. ???? How long did it last?
That's what I suggested. A follow-up in the same video. Don't you just hate that? It's like, leaving out the most important info.
That would be too much common sense
When I was in the Marine Corps I used to get either a spray can or tube of silicone from one of my buddies in the Comm unit and use it on my 1978 Pontiac Bandit Trans AM. That stuff lasted forever through rain and snow. It never deteriorated the tires. I was in the Corps from 1982 - 1986.
How did you apply it ?

Your not crazy Scott. Thank you for trying out new products, giving them a chance, and testing them out. Looking forward to the updates!
LMAO...."Wow, Duplicolor, you're really bumming me out in the moment". Scott, you crack me up, dude! You'll try anything and that's why we love you!

Jose Saavedra I thought same thing lol
Its him lol
Yes he does.
Sounds like a dork…
My wife said he sounds like Howard stern. Keep up the great videos Howard.
SHOULD HAVE DONE A FOLLOW UP IN THE SAME VIDEO.

2 months later are there any updates? How does it handle the curb bumps while parking?
Learn how to park!!!!!!......DUMBASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jack Howard nah forget that imma park how I want. Kiss my grits
Exforma Permashine is the best tire shine ( dressing) tire shine, is the best tire dressing, that I’ve tried, so far?
This is a very cool idea !....I used to use a product called “tire black” when I was a teenager in the 70’s...this was the only tire black product at the time...years before the tire treatments we know today...I liked it and I like this also !....I’m going to try it too...and I will definitely mask off the mag wheel !...nice job again Scott..!.....
I remember that! Also used it on running boards of my 1967 VW Beetle. Think I used a paint brush???
Tire black was some good stuff back then
Back in the 60’s&70’s we used something called tire black. It was a very thin paint that you put on with a brush. Can’t remember who made it.
Thanks for testing this stuff. I’ll be looking out for your updates. And yes you should have masked the entire wheel.
Coverall works great too. Super long lasting. O’Reillys has it.
I heard the same thing about CoverAll. Not available in California, damn.
That’s what I use

Brilliant!
That laugh at the end he knows he is crazy
Scott, it's July. How does your tire look like? Pictures?
Yes I did do this I used peice of cardboard and a compass and made a perfect circle to fit it exactly the size
It’s been two months , I wonder how are the results on the tryout...
Thank you
Florentine Ortiz nope, you wasted 6 minutes of your life watching him spray paint a tire and then disappear from your life forever.
@@Meatpopsicle2050 lol so funny.
I seen the best way to apply dupli-color was to turn away from car, spray on applicator and apply to tires, works well that way.
as a youngster, we used a DuPont product called tire black. it was like basically an asphalt type product but was black, shiny and lasted pretty good. brushed it on with a paint brush
That's what he should have done. Spray it on a brush. Brush it on.
Dude, Card board box around the OUT side of the tire. NO OVER SPRAY. I do this to all four, of my cars. GREAT VIDEO.
How long does the shine usually last?
Appreciate the video! Did you ever do a follow-up? I'm curious because I'm interested in giving it a try. Just wondered how well it held up, if it held up at all.
Thanks 4 new tires about to polish RIMS my cars black this will complete the look
I have subscribed to this because I want to know what will happen next.
That laugh made me do it! 😀
Hi Scott the tire looks very nice 👌👍
Hey Scott How did that paint work out over time??
I use a car wash and wax liquid for the paint and tires. For tires, I add a layer of the cheapest spray foam tire shine. Then I add a second layer of the cheapest squirt bottle of tire shine on top. No rubbing. It does not last very long, however only takes a few seconds to put on and does not cost much.
That product would eventually start damaging your tires 🛞 by cranking them out 😂😂😂😮
I can’t find a follow up video. Has there been one yet?
Brandon Welch yeah its the video right after this one
Sorry it was about 3 videos after
I had to do a double-take! My son’s name is Brandon Welch!
Thank You. Intresting. Good show
Is there a follow up video for this to see how its holding up?
Love the commentary Scott! Thanks for showing us this product. Keep up the great job, "Make Cars Clean Again!"
Well you did the "BEFORE" but where's the "AFTER" ?
I made a cardboard rim protector, the diameter of my rims, with finger holes in it. I use it when I'm applying tire dressing spray. Might have helped here. Also noticed the driveway now has shiny black tire paint on it. Wonder how long that will take to wear off.
LOVE the finger holes idea, better than a knob ... great ingenuity!!! thanx
Scott, I laughed my ass off right from jump hahaha! I love you! You are awesome
I’ve been using the clear version for the last 5 years. They just changed the name to tire “paint”. It used to be called coating or tire shine. It’s amazing!!!!!
I believe the clear would be for white walls or white lettering. The black "paint" would work better for solid black walls.
Jason Currington I’ve tried the black and I’m not impressed. It was dull and turned my driveway concrete black! The clear is by far the better product for me.
@@KP_details I'll have to try that one. Thanks!
Agreed with that last post- You are the Man. Thanks for the great videos and thanks for risking it all. and... Holy shit man, You sound like Howard Stern- dude, that’s pretty freakin cool brother!!
My rims are hand painted black. Do you think this will give them a nice shine along with the tire??
Im gonna try this after using a tire marker hope it holds up
I remember back in the day when detailers would paint the tires and wheel wells black back in the day. To get a car ready for resale.. I called them detail cheats...
The Renew Protect products are the best out there and it’s made in America
How long did it last
I've try ed everything on the tyres.nothing lasts that long.some are better then others. But nothing is as good as new brand new tires.nice Video
Very interesting. Wondering if it will last without flaking or anything.
Hey scott.maybe have an old hub cap, the same rim size as your rims, and use it as a shield while spraying.i THINK I made this method up.i have not heard of anyone using this technique in all the years I have been watching you tube.good idea?let's see if it goes viral in the detailing world.
I use a piece of heavy cardboard cut like a circle
it looks nice but i got a feeling 90% acetone is melting the rubber under the microscope lol??? hope the tyres dont burst? dont you think its dangerous?
I'm interested to see how it lasts, sure it's paint and all, but if you cover stuff up well before hand it may be worth the effort :)
It washes off, after the first scrub, during a routine wash. A maintenance wash? I thought it shouldn’t wash off, and one application, lasts one year? Not true!
I thought for a moment you were going to use my old trick from the early 80s...Mop and Glo floor polish!
They used to use that on engine detailing
Lol. Our mechanics at work ( a large delivery company) would just paint the tires with gloss black automotive paint when the truck was serviced. Actually looked great.
How long would it last? Could regular Krylon gloss black spray paint do the job or does it have to be automotive spray paint?
Very interesting! Wondering if it will last without flaking or anything.
I'm using Gyeon Tyre right now, it's a silica based sealant for tyres, lasts about 6 months in almost any conditions, and no overspray ; p
May have to assemble the tires from the wheels to do this. I wouldn't risk the over spray without the right removal. This is what some used tire shops use on their tires
Just an idea, could you spray it on an applicator pad and spread it around like that?
Just cover the entire wheel next time to catch any overspray. Lol. Glad you are back to doing these how to videos again.
I will never stop talking about many things and that includes my product line as well..
We all win😀
Okay so it’s APRIL 28!!!!!!!!! Wheres part twice at !!??
Well this was done over a year ago, how long did it last??
Hey Scott how did this product work out?
I have used duplicolor it is legit also turtle wax endura shine tire coating is good but not made any more. It flakes if u Meade up prep. Great looking tire
Any update on this?
What’s the chemical you said you have that you can use to get that overspray off quickly and easily, that the other brand didn’t do?
I would cut a piece of cardboard and tape it over the rim
Just make 4 . And in my eyes it's well worth it to do that than chance over spray on my vehicle. It's all about being professional especially when doing a customer's vehicle they would expect the detailer they are paying to treat there vehicle like it was a showroom car or truck no matter what it is they are doing
Again just my opinion I take and make time to do what is needed on my customer's vehicles to ensure repeat business
I use an adjustable rim shield 🛡 for my tire dressings/coatings

The stores will be out of this soon too. Whatever you touch turns to gold.
Ok I cant find any long term updates, whats the verdict?
If done in a controlled environment with some drop cloths seems legit if it last.
Looks like that tire paint sticks better than any normal paint.
Wonder how that would work for the wheel wells on trucks lol hats off to you for testing it
So how long did it last?
I'm not to sure about this product yet but I have used their interior dye(paint) and I was shocked. Had that car for 4 yrs with that interior paint on it and it looked just as good as when I first did it.
I'm more interested in what you used to the over spray off.

Way to think outside the box! Would you try PBS boot prep and Sealant made for aircraft boots?

Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing Also, TH-cam has some good examples and tutorials on using the product. PBS boot Sealant
Scott can you be sure to do a follow up so we can know how it holds up and looks after a while?
You're not crazy Scott! Thanks for doing this. I would not have tried it. Let's see how it does. Much love to you!
I use to paint my tires with black gloss paint in the early 1980's. People would ask me how I got my tires so shiny.
lol
So what was the outcome of the test? Thanks.
We're all a little crazy Scott.😉
"Scott, you're absolutely nuts"
Meguires hotshine high gloss spray does wonders for me and lasts about 4 weeks
Clay bar or car compound would remove overspray
Nice 4th gen✔
OMG SCOTT 😬, LOOKS REALLY GOOD. JUST LIKE YOU SAID: LET SEE HOW LONG WILL LAST !👍🏻🏎💨💨💨
Would that tire shine work if you spray it on a rag and then wipe it on the tire , no overspray , would that work ?
Well? What’s the chemical to remove the overspray? I watched to the end to see if it pulled it off!

Mr. Scott where can I buy this stuff and please make other video can’t see how really looks! Is it really black and shiny
July 2019, no follow up video?
You didn't shake that can for 30 seconds.
Get a big cardboard box and cut out the size of the rim and make some holes in it right in the center like you do a bowling ball. And then you can hold it up to the rim while you are spraying this stuff on. This is what I did and I don't have to worry about any overspray.
I'm guessing you used.... CITROL, to take off the overspray
I watch detailer use a card board cutout with a handle when they a spraying tires.
Hey Scott... Will this stuff dry up your tire over time promoting cracking?
great video again buddy. glad 2 hear ur laugh again.b well
What's the Name of the stuff you use to remove overspray??... Got's be wondering what it is?... I'm kinda worried.
I really am liking this idea
its works we use it on big off road truck tires that have dry cracks
I just take the tire of the rim and, remount with the white letters facing out. Hides the sun damaged - dry rotted sidewalls.
-And get 12, to 15 years out of a tire!
