It is a cool looking blade. I remember when San Mai was all the rage and had an R1 and currently an Outdoorsman in it. It is still a good implementation for a combat/ general purpose knife. Do I wish this was still available in 3v … most definitely! With 3v I see this, and it larger brethren as survival knifes and probably one of the better ones out there. I would guess San Mai is easier on the tooling in the manufacturing and that Americanized Tanto is a compound grind! One thin GSM does well is maximizing profit and 3v on compound grind had to be expensive! It is still a very cool and functional knife. Thanks for sharing!
Great Video! I totally agree with your point of view on how important it is for every Blade to be super durable. I think all Steels and Knife Constructions have a purpose. For example, an awesome Fixed Blade made to be a great Fighter, will most likely not be a great Camp or Field Knife. And, I feel the same way about Blade Steels. I totally agree; great Video! And, I also, watched Joe X for the same reason; he'll be missed... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
I like Joe x.. he’s knowledgeable, his knife picks are spot on, his abuse tests are real testaments to the knife and he answers you back when you ask him questions of comments.. you go Joe! He also proved that s30 v, s 35 v ,crewmax, elmax and other steels aren’t worth buying. AUS 8, aus10a and 8Cr13MoV (cold steel heat treated) steels are really better, especially at durability!
I was thinking of getting this because it's on sale rn but I don't think I'll like the groves in the handle. I'm a fan of Joe X but some of his viewers aren't the brightest. Reading his comment section always gives me a headache 😂
I agree with your assessment of some of the JoeX viewers. I love his destruction test but a lot of his viewers don't seem to realize there isn't a single knife that will escape total failure under his type of abuse and think the knives are junk because they didn't survive.
Destruction testing is only valid if all the knives are exactly the same geometry. Also different designs for different purposes, you can't compare a fighting design to a survival knife. Steels are different, cruwear cuts longer than 5160. But 5160 is tougher... joex tests are unfortunately entertainment
please dont try to clickbait off another person's name unless you have good things to say about JOE X. JOE X will be a legendary channel and he is to be respected for his videos.

Great review! I never saw this knife before, now I must have one. Glad to hear about the sheath. Have an SRK & SRKc and both sheaths are garbage
Thank you sir! Yeah the sheaths seem to have been upgraded 👍

Could not find Joe X video on this knife 🤷
Joex is awesome.

Agreed! He’s an absolute legend!
I don't own one but it looks like Cold Steel keeps changing the handle on the warcraft. I've seen the lower end steel version with different scales.
They have one with a GRN handle. I like the profile of the GRN handle a lot, but much prefer G10 as a material
JoeX is in a class of his own..
thuper theeel!!!!!!
Joe X is the shit ! But I agree knives are for cutting . Joe can break anything especially psy fan Boi 😅

I like San Mai knives better than 3V.
To each their own!

@@MattRoseKnives yes🤟
It was the way it delaminted, there is no excuse for that plus Cold steel list it as full tang.
