10 Awesome Features and Tips for Late-Game Rafts | Raft Gameplay | IOTA Played a Game

  • There are many guides for getting started in Raft, but relatively few that cover the late-game stage outside of massive building in creative mode. This video covers 10 of the most notable and interesting features of my late-game design in preparation for the release of Chapter 3.
This raft has been created on Easy difficulty with no additional mods or cheats, and has been played up to the completion of Chapter 2. At the recording of this video, it is Day 515 and all major achievements have been completed with the notable exception of "Not a Great Landing" discovery of the Plane Island [I also skipped lots of 'hooking' items].
The single most notable design feature of this raft is #8. Subfloor Pipe System, but the video also covers the benefits of potato farming, Honey Houses, collection nets and more.
Raft is a survival crafting game developed by RedBeet Interactive and published by Axolot Games.

Here are some tipps. I know the video is almost a year back so Im guessing you know these by now yet still worth mentioning.
    1. When starting out a raft those 4 starting tiles of your raft will always be the center of your whole world as the map, resouces and even the shark concentrade always on this very center. This means if you want to build 30 tiles in length you shoud build 15 to the left and 15 to the right from those first tiles so your raft always remains centered. If you build all to one side then half of the resources will pass by your raft always.
    2. As said in point 1. if you stay away just far enough from an island the shark will stay with your raft. Off course he will follow you but as soon as you step on the island he looses you and will go back to the raft leaving you in peace to scavange without hassle.
    3. Build any kind of enclosed house, it can have windows but it has to be consealed top, bottom, left, right, front and back and the door always needs to be shut. Now all you have to do is stay 8 tiles away in all directions before building anything that can grow anything including grass plots and trees. Simply nothing that can grow anything within 8 tiles and this building will remain seagul proof.
    4. Using diagonal or triangle ceiling tiles will make pillars removable. U need to build pillars and make a 3x3 ceiling but the center piece of that 3x3 needs to be two triangles facing each other. If you do that you can remove all pillars beneath and the ceiling will stay it will even float without any support.
    5. When using pillars as a temporary building helper then always use half pillars they cost 1 nail and 1 wood and when removing you get all resources back unlike the normal pillars they cost 2 nails and 2 wood and you get only half back. So in a sense half pillars can always be reused and full pillars eventually eat your resources. Btw milk is the easiest way to refine as you already have to water the grass and maintain the battery power. If you use potatoes you have to water them too and maintain power to just another growing area. 2 buckets of milk fills one refinery and the buckets are reusable, unlike when you cook.
    6. The shark only attacks the outter frame of your raft so there is no reason to waste steel by armoring any inside foundations. Also when you first make your armor and are low on resources it is enough to armor only every second foundation as the armor is bigger than the foundation and will secure adjacent foundations too. I always armor all but at the beginning when your are not so rich yet this makes a big difference.
Note: the reason why you lost your clucker is because you built your farming area to low. Some waves in the storm can reach up to one height of normal wall. So if it just so happens that your animal is right by the fence and the right wave comes at the right time it will carry your animal across the fence. What I always do is build a base of foundations and the repeat the whole process 1and a half walls higher and this is where I build all my stuff leaving like a massive large belly at the bottom of the ship. No waves ever come this high and cannot carry anything away. You might have notice sometimes when you are fishing the rod pulls up without you doing anything, this is because you were caught by a wave and the game thought you were swimming and you can´t fish and swim at the same time. This also apllies to your animal that was just an unlucky wave catch.
Sry for all this text but I hope this helps someone that actually reads it all.

@@poppedcann 5 days ago? Im guessing you build in one direction from your starting point and now you see alot of resouces passing by. I build many many rafts and it often took a while to realise the error in the ship and I had to restart. Its a pain gathering all the resources building for hours just to find out that a restart is your best option. Many things can be fixed but when you start your foundation wrong or notice in late game you actually build too small there are not too many options. Generalc1977 is my steam find me and I will show you my latest build if you like. It is just a main base without any tech but it is ready for the future of the game.

Your raft is amazing. The sheer amount of hard work you've put into it is only matched by the impressive depth of thought used. I like everything you've done but to name just a few highlights: the clever raised animal pens to allow under-floor pies, the delightful two cooking pot station with overhead chests to make cooking efficient, and finally your biofuel production chain. Superb. You're an inspiration.

I've also never messed with paint before, so I'm going to starting hoarding even more and paint up my boat!

    As for me
    1. I like to make the farm one floor above and place all my water tank, water pipes and sprinklers on the lower ground. the sprinkler can watering half it's height so it will look like a little shower head around the grass and thats look better! use half pillar and foundation on the lower ground to place the sprinkler!
    2. Banana tree farm is better! because it always gave us at least 1 seeds so we won't run out of the seeds even though it only always gave us 4 planks, the banana can be used as bio fuel!!
    3. It's better to make a half pillar 3x4 closed foundation to grow the flowers and place the beehives above it and make one half tall roof around it that way you won't miss click the honey for the flower and the seagulls won't attack it
