    A lot of people do not understand the enjoyment of just babying a neat well made little engine like this! These type of well made cars are fantastic, I love them! And I have owned 300 hp + cars, so I know what I am saying!

      I have a 300 hp chevy impala. But I beleive I would better enjoy a small car like this due to cheaper maintenance. Better fuel mileage and probally cheaper on insurance. I love the idea of a thrifty small engined car like this as a daily driver and spending the money I save on my hot rod. My impala isnt bad on gas but I want more fuel mileage. I'm averaging 34 to 35 on the highway and 29 to 30 on the interstate. And around 25 to 27 in city driving

    Paid 11k for a manual hatchback. Has more comfortable seats than the Lexus RX 350 I traded in. Get 43-48 mpg regularly in the summer. The worst I get is 38-39 in very cold weather or super windy drives. The best car purchase I’ve ever made in the past 20 years of car ownership.

      Howd you got it for 11k and another person for 13k, does that includes all fees and tax? I might be able to gather the money and pay cash for this if I can get it for 11k.

      Different dealers put different discounts on cars based on how well they sell. In my area these mirages dont sell well so I can easily get 2k off of a base or 3k off of a loaded.

    Real daily working people loves this car. True, this doesn't drive like a high performance sports car but it's not like you're gonna drive like an action star from and to work. All that matters is you can ride comfortably and safely. Plus it won't cost you that much maintaining the car.

      Exactly what these cars were designed for. Main market for these is overseas where people are looking for simple, cheap and reliable cars. Wish we got more of these types of cars here in the US, like the Nissan Micra for example. I'm trying to get my mother to buy a Mirage to replace her gas hog Taurus that's ten years old now. She's retiring soon and won't have the income to deal with constant car problems.

    Great review on the Mirage as I very much want one as a replacement for a Smart car. A lot of people trash this car for the engine that is not fast enough for some but I did test one long ago and I found it to be fine for highway driving and city.

    Good review man.. A lot of people don't get this car or they don't understand it, its a roomy lightweight gas sipper that's safe has some nice features for decent A to B driving and is 11k brand new with a crazy good warranty and that's that.The CVT is decent but the manual is the key to 50mpg +. I think cars are getting a bit goofy with googahs and doodads and simple safe inexpensive cars are in demand and mitsubshi hit the nail on the head with the mirage.

    I really appreciate this video AND also all of the comments from Mirage owners! I test drove one today and am thinking of getting it after totaling my Saturn Vue. I was worried about the pick up but a lot of owners say it's not that bad. Obviously the gas is excellent but I think overall because of this vid I might go ahead and get it.. I really like the idea of it being affordable and RELIABLE! Thank you all!

    I'm a broke ish college student who is interested in getting a car that is the best bang for the buck and with a high mpg. I don't really care about fancy things as long as it gets me from point A to point B and is a relatively safe car. Would you say that this is the best option? Also thank you for not being so harsh on this car unlike most other car reviewers and being realistic about it being an eco car!

    You had mentioned that it does not do so well in the snow, but with the small wheels the cost of snow tires have got to be very reasonable. So I can't help but wonder how it performs with snow tires. What a cool review that would be....

    So what if you can hit 60 mph in 6 sec. you will be pulling into the the gas station in 6 min.!!

    I know people getting these for 11 grand, 13 grand fully loaded. 17 grand is a Honda Fit! A Toyota Corolla. would totally get one, for the common deals available. These are good little cars. But $17,000? I’d for sure chose pretty much anything else in this class available for that. MSRP is waaaay too much. I test drove a Toyota iA, that is the car I’ll lkely get. After discounts it was under $14,000. Similar MPG to those, but a lot more fun and better equipped. Plus should hold value well. A base model G4 left over from 2017 is only $9000-10000 and change at many dealers. That’s possible, I’m in the middle of negotiating with a dealer wanting $10,000. The 5 speed is a lot better to drive than the CVT.

    • @rowsdower12
      @rowsdower12 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      djkenny I agree. For a car this caliber I wouldn't pay over 15 the most. The iA is a Mazda 2 sedan variant but rebadged. Hence why it might be fun

    • @djkenny1202
      @djkenny1202 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Belmares 14-15 is a lot. I’ve seen them much cheaper. Base model hatches for $9500. Loaded SE G4’s for $12,700, OTD. Honda Fit LX is $15,500 after discounts and a superior vehicle. But for the $ you can’t beat a well discounted Mirage or Mirage G4.

      I took my 2014 Hatch CVT on a 700 mile road trip. My version didnt come with Cruise control unfortunately and I found myself having to stop every 2 hours to stretch, which helped immensely. You do have to constantly correct the wheel at 70 plus mph which can cause fatigue in your wrist. So I would just switch hands every 30 mins or so. It was fine. It helps to order an center console armrest too. All in all a decent road trip car. I had no issues passing cars or getting blown off my lane by passing 18 wheelers. The best part though was the fuel savings. The Mirage saved me %50 off what I usually pay for fuel on the exact same trip.

    Ours got stick shift, side mirror turning lights, push button start and automatic climate control but to be honest, i like your trim better. I still like the key start, manual climate control and non side mirror turn lights. The first aid kit is another welcome added touch.

    0-60 in 24 seconds? BS. Every test I've seen gets 11-12 seconds. Not speedy by any means, but faster than many cars with larger engines in the not too distant past. When I worked at a BMW dealership in the 80s our most popular model was the 528e which did 0-60 in about 11 seconds and all the owners raved about their Bimmer being a "high performance car" LOL!

    The hatchback is WAY cooler. How could anyone "prefer" the sedan. The hatchback is much better designed in terms of looks and function with much better aerodynamics and space. It even gets 5 mpgs better than the sedan according to EPA ratings. Hatchback all the way for me.

    • @djkenny1202

      There’s some reasons. I too really like the hatch, however, with car seats or taller rear passengers the G4 is much roomiest. Trunks can be nice. Some added security. The rear arm rest is also kinda nice.
