    This one video summarized what would have been hours of floundering around on Reddit for gear opinions. Thanks!

    I've been watching tons and tons of clothing gear for backpacking.
    I usually never comment but wow ! This is exactly what I was searching for : explaining WHAT you bring, WHEN you bring it and WHY you bring it.
    This is really useful for me, to understand my mistakes on my nooby treks before I started trying to get more efficient at backpacking, and for all the next treks I want to do in my life !
    Thank you !

    Great breakdown of your clothing and reasons why. I like so many struggle to not bring too many clothes on my backpacking trips, hiking in the high Uinta's and their ever changing weather I'm always afraid of being unprepared for rain/hail/snow and colder than anticipated temps. I've bought new more technical pieces this past year that I hope will help me build trust in their ability to keep me comfortable without needing extras. Oh and I'd like to try shoe gaiters this year to cut down a little on dirty socks... Thanks!

      Thanks Howard. Yeah the Unitas have so much above treeline where you will be exposed in a storm. Be safe out there. I need to make it out there one of these days. Views I'm sure are incredible.

    Just started watching your videos. Great production work. Question. What do you think of Polartecs Alpha Direct super light weight fleece? Senchi Designs and a couple of other cottage companies are producing. Looks like you and I live in the same general area. Thanks. Rick from Tumwater.

      Thanks Rick. I don't have any experience with that material but I've heard enough good things about it that I would like to try it out. Hopefully Senchi will make some soon. I have my eye on that hoodie.

    One of the best review. Thanks for your work!
    Are you planning to make similar video for your winter gear?

    • @cascadiahiking
      @cascadiahiking  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Makc, I am planning on making an updated gearlist video and some more in-depth reviews of certain gear: packs, tents, clothing, etc. I haven't thought about a winter list but I may put something together on that topic. Cheers.

    Great video, thanks! May I ask you about your shoes (I know, not the topic of the video)? How do you like the Bushidos for longer trips (several weeks)? They fit me really well but I'm concerned that there is not enough cushioning for longer hikes.

    • @cascadiahiking
      @cascadiahiking  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Alex. Unless your going to be doing some scrambling sections where the stiffness of the Bushidos come in handy I'd probably go for something with a little more cushioning that still has decent traction. If I were hiking something like the PCT, I wouldn't use the Bushidos, maybe Lone Peaks or Speedgoats.

    Have you done a lighter pack spreadsheet for these items. It would be great too if there were links. Thanx for the video.

      Thanks. For now I've just listed everything with links in the description but eventually I'll get around to adding them to my lighter pack page :)
