I like that Vegeta's alternate color scheme is how his armor used to look in the very beginning of dbz. That weird orange and green look. That is a very nice touch.
MegaDrain Goku's is his kid Goku gi. Android 16 resembles android 8. Krillin and Android 18 have their Super colors. Nappa has the colors he had while Vegeta had green and orange. And multiple others...
I love how faithful this game is. Every move a character uses is etheir rooted from the manga or the anime. You can tell how much the developers wanted this to be the best of the best in terms of dragonball. A very well done job

What I like about the game is that each character has unique playstyles and moveset, like Beerus lays out traps. Previous DBZ fighting games, some may have different animations or whatever, but you play them pretty much in a similar way.
I think what makes this game so good compared to any other fighting at the moment is that there's isn't like a "god tier" list, any and every character in this game is good if you know what you're doing.
Bought it day of release. The game’s really easy to get into and has a very high skill cap. It also looks really damn good (Max settings on PC), and all the interesting combos you can make yourself just add to the combat complexity. I’ve realized that the game is more about knowing when to do combos moreso than knowing how, since “autocombos” exist where you can simply mash 1 button and an entire combo is unleashed for you. Of course that never works in high level play but it just comes to show how easy the game is to pick up & it’s a serious blast for a bunch of friends looking to play an online fighter. Best part is that it really speaks to the DBZ fans cuz of all the awesome and hilarious references. I say try it out, you won’t be disappointed.
EvoZims I'm entertaining the idea of getting it. And while I praise the stunning visuals, I never really liked Guilty Gear's fighting system. Also, I dislike the idea of "forced" team battles. I favor 1v1.
Only problem I have is the forced team battles, and well, the fact that you can't play with a keyboard without sucking ass or having xbox button prompts, sole reason I even have an xbox 360 controller hooked up, atleast I can play with my mates who come over.
People rag on the roster but I don't think they understand that unlike the 3D games, each character is not simply a 3D model and alot of time is put into animating the characters down to shader work. It does suck not to have the entire DBZ roster, but I guess I would rather have a small roster of well thought out characters then a bunch of throwaway characters just for the sake of having them. This is a small roster even for a competitive fighting game, Injustice 1 and 2 had 30 characters, Tekken 6 and 7 had 35+ characters, MvCi had 30, USF4 had 40+, UMvC3 had 40+, BlazBlue CentralFiction has 36, Smash Melee, a game released 16 YEARS AGO had 25 characters and i can go on. Im not asking for the 100+ characters that the more casual games had, im just asking for a 30 -35 character roster thats not fluffed up by having shit like, 2 gokus, 2 vegetas and 2 buus. Not to mention this is a 3v3 game so characters are gonna get really repetitive since every 1 game is normally gonna consist of 25% of the roster.
I think they were going for all the main people right off the bat, the characters were are the most popular from the series, as well as trying to integrate Super characters so the game is relevant with the times. But like I said, this game from what I understand takes a pretty good amount of work to achieve the anime art style, so pumping out characters is not really doable

The crown for best DB game has finally transferred hands after 11 years. I really wish I could play this game right now, had a blast with all the betas but I could only get one game and it ended up being Monster Hunter which has taken over my life.
I've personally been enjoying the game. However, my friend says it's too "spammy" meaning you can just press the same move over and over and get a victory. Does anyone agree with this? I believe it comes down to being a good sport. Any fighting game can have "spammy" characters, it comes down to the player to not be a poor sport, and just fight fair.
No move can carry you to victory. A lot of idiots spam big, flashy moves like the Kamehameha, but that’s way too easy to counter. Basically, if you play like an idiot, you’ll only beat idiots
Punishes are everything in this game. If someone's spamming the chase move where you fly through the air, the opponent can counter with a heavy attack, usually down heavy, and completely turn the tables. If someone's spamming ki attacks then jumping or retaliating with your own is also an option.
My reply was going to be like damon Jackson's. Do you play online...or even turn the difficulty to "100". Try turning the difficulty to 100 and then playing numerous matches online and see if it is still so "spammy". (It might in fact be somewhat spammy, but the spammed combos are not the basic autocombos.)

CudahMang Personally I feel like Krillin has huge potential with a skillful player Kienzan is a great move, hes got alot of nuanced tricks and mix ups and the senzu beans are a huge plus.
CudahMang Im really liking the build for this game in the roster ArcSys did a great job making more simplified mechanics but adding enough individuality to make most of the roster feel nuanced and balanced. I fucking love ArcSys fighters so my bias for this game was high this is like a dream come true
If you have choice buy ps4...the match making is fine. I live in south africa and playing people in the uk with "zero bar" connections and getting almost no lag is a tribute to the great netcode

Dizaythesavior honestly ive never had that issue. Also remember even if you find a dead empty lobby and search for world match then it searches all lobbies not just the one you are in. So try that as a solution perhaps?

Henry Ward you have to! Since Zarbon, Dodoria, Cui, Appule, King Cold, and most of the Ginyu Force aren’t in the game, you can’t really put Frieza with his actual allies.
Played the beta and was very fun. It's easy to learn but difficult to master like he said. Unfortunately it doesn't look like there's a whole lot of variety in game modes to justify the $60 price tag for me. I will get it when it hits $30.Glad to have another dbz game on the market.

mhd alr I really see where your coming from, but give credit where it's due. This game did a fantastic job at making people feel like they were in the anime, from transformations to ultimate attacks and even the base combos it screams fan service. Look at one frame of the game, you can find which every character in the middle of a frame and then find a point in the manga or anime that has that pose. This game is, in my opinion, how dragon ball games should look, I love xenoverse 1 and 2 but the mechanics felt broken and unrefined, not to mention the online play was terrible due to lag popping up eventually (it was fun though). This game will always be my seccond favorite dragon ball game and I understand that I might not get you to have the same feeling towards it like I do, but I might get you to respect it for all that it did and create. Well that's all I've got to say have a good day whoever you are!
The game has one fatal flaw and I'm sure I'm repeatedly someone in the comments, if you have no internet you can't play it, it won't go past the intro screen which is stupid considering 1. It's very robust single player content and 2. Once you connect online it gives you the option to join an offline lobby why not give this option before even connecting online.
Chadam Nomads I have internet. The PSN was down for a couple of hours yesterday (1/26) and during that time the game couldn't connect to the PSN and go beyond the intro screen.
Not true...I discovered after a few minutes trying to connect...the game took me to a offline lobby. I was able to play story mode, local and training. I originally thought the game was online only but that's not the case

Gotta say, I come from Guilty Gear and thought that DB fans with no experience in fighting games would get their hype shat on by the ruthless and competitive ASW environment. BUT, I've been surprised to see that people have been learning fast and pulling off some hardcore combos and moves just a week into the game. Kudos to people for learning so quick and the kudos for the game for being so perfect at teaching players how to play.

This is a small roster even for a competitive fighting game, Injustice 1 and 2 had 30 characters, Tekken 6 and 7 had 35+ characters, MvCi had 30, USF4 had 40+, UMvC3 had 40+, BlazBlue CentralFiction has 36, Smash Melee, a game released 16 YEARS AGO had 25 characters and i can go on. Im not asking for the 100+ characters that the more casual games had, im just asking for a 30 -35 character roster thats not fluffed up by having shit like, 2 gokus, 2 vegetas and 2 buus. Not to mention this is a 3v3 game so characters are gonna get really repetitive since every 1 game is normally gonna consist of 25% of the roster.
I think they were going for all the main people right off the bat, the characters were are the most popular from the series, as well as trying to integrate Super characters so the game is relevant with the times. But like I said, this game from what I understand takes a pretty good amount of work to achieve the anime art style, so pumping out characters is not really doable

The crown for best DB game has finally transferred hands after 11 years. I really wish I could play this game right now, had a blast with all the betas but I could only get one game and it ended up being Monster Hunter which has taken over my life.

I've personally been enjoying the game. However, my friend says it's too "spammy" meaning you can just press the same move over and over and get a victory. Does anyone agree with this? I believe it comes down to being a good sport. Any fighting game can have "spammy" characters, it comes down to the player to not be a poor sport, and just fight fair.

No move can carry you to victory.
A lot of idiots spam big, flashy moves like the Kamehameha, but that’s way too easy to counter.
Basically, if you play like an idiot, you’ll only beat idiots
Punishes are everything in this game. If someone's spamming the chase move where you fly through the air, the opponent can counter with a heavy attack, usually down heavy, and completely turn the tables. If someone's spamming ki attacks then jumping or retaliating with your own is also an option.
My reply was going to be like damon Jackson's. Do you play online...or even turn the difficulty to "100". Try turning the difficulty to 100 and then playing numerous matches online and see if it is still so "spammy". (It might in fact be somewhat spammy, but the spammed combos are not the basic autocombos.)

Yeah Yamcha at first was a bit tough but it snapped at me quick when I realize he has great defensive offense moves.
CudahMang Personally I feel like Krillin has huge potential with a skillful player Kienzan is a great move, hes got alot of nuanced tricks and mix ups and the senzu beans are a huge plus.
CudahMang Im really liking the build for this game in the roster ArcSys did a great job making more simplified mechanics but adding enough individuality to make most of the roster feel nuanced and balanced. I fucking love ArcSys fighters so my bias for this game was high this is like a dream come true

When it comes to fighting styles, Yamcha is one of the best in the series. He has just been weak compared to other characters.
If you have choice buy ps4...the match making is fine. I live in south africa and playing people in the uk with "zero bar" connections and getting almost no lag is a tribute to the great netcode
Julian Morgan yeah same I was surprised how there is no lag whatsoever during my fights the only problem is there is not enough place in the lobbies in my region so sometimes I cant find a lobby.
Dizaythesavior honestly ive never had that issue. Also remember even if you find a dead empty lobby and search for world match then it searches all lobbies not just the one you are in. So try that as a solution perhaps?

Played a dragon ball fighter game on the computer years ago, it was awesome.
Played the beta and was very fun. It's easy to learn but difficult to master like he said.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like there's a whole lot of variety in game modes to justify the $60 price tag for me.

mhd alr I really see where your coming from, but give credit where it's due. This game did a fantastic job at making people feel like they were in the anime, from transformations to ultimate attacks and even the base combos it screams fan service. Look at one frame of the game, you can find which every character in the middle of a frame and then find a point in the manga or anime that has that pose.
This game is, in my opinion, how dragon ball games should look, I love xenoverse 1 and 2 but the mechanics felt broken and unrefined, not to mention the online play was terrible due to lag popping up eventually (it was fun though).
This game will always be my seccond favorite dragon ball game and I understand that I might not get you to have the same feeling towards it like I do, but I might get you to respect it for all that it did and create. Well that's all I've got to say have a good day whoever you are!

The game has one fatal flaw and I'm sure I'm repeatedly someone in the comments, if you have no internet you can't play it, it won't go past the intro screen which is stupid considering 1. It's very robust single player content and 2. Once you connect online it gives you the option to join an offline lobby why not give this option before even connecting online.

Chadam Nomads I have internet. The PSN was down for a couple of hours yesterday (1/26) and during that time the game couldn't connect to the PSN and go beyond the intro screen.
Not true...I discovered after a few minutes trying to connect...the game took me to a offline lobby. I was able to play story mode, local and training.
I originally thought the game was online only but that's not the case
I played practically all day yesterday offline. I'll try to repeat it again today to provide with more detail how I got to the offline lobby.

Gotta say, I come from Guilty Gear and thought that DB fans with no experience in fighting games would get their hype shat on by the ruthless and competitive ASW environment. BUT, I've been surprised to see that people have been learning fast and pulling off some hardcore combos and moves just a week into the game. Kudos to people for learning so quick and the kudos for the game for being so perfect at teaching players how to play.
