The RS2 delayed killfeed isn't a question of 'Did I headshot that guy or miss?" it's a question of "Did I headshot an enemy or friendly?"
Dude that delayed killfeed makes me nervous, only worked instantly when I wiped a squad with the m60, so my kills took great part of the tiny kill feed

Yeah most squad leads are noobies who hit create a squad just to hit it
Unfortunately, most matches have 1 or 2 squads which have decent squad leaders in each team. The other squad leaders are silent most of the time... and there's also that moment at the beginning of every match in which no one creates a squad (because no one wants to be squad leader) or they create one, promote another person who joins as squad leader and the random guy just doesn't even know how to play as SL or wants it.
Y'all cry about there being no decent SL and will never be one yourself smh
TranquillShot I SL 95% of the time and I will say this, a LOT of SLs don’t understand basic stratagem and basic leadership skills. In many cases they just click create squad to simply make a squad.

@@jaif7327 Planetside 2 is notorious for being 'playable on lower end PCs' by people who haven't really sunk much time into the game. While they are factually correct in saying that it can run on low end PCs, you're going to be watching a Power Point presentation if you get into any battles with actual fighting in it.

Rising Storm and Insurgency Sandstorm are some of my favorite games for quick realistic fun. Glad you included them.
Neither of those games are realistic but they are good tactical based in realism.

If u want to see chaotic battles, arm chair generals, and your kd fall below 1 then planetside is the game for you. It's hard for new players to adjust but once you embrace the madness it is so rewarding. Still playing ps2 and will always be there because ain't nobody coming close to the size of these fights

@@KuroHebi Absolutely not. It does what it wanted to very well: portray WWI. But that doesn’t clash with Battlefields warfare sandbox. BF1 is a great FPS but not a very good Battlefield game. It ain’t the champion of BF games that’s for sure.
@@Astrothunder_ oh, I found BF1 to be superior because of its accurate portrayal of the first world war. With the Frostbite engine able to accurately map damage models and create stunning particle effects (explosions, bullet deflections, etc.), it really set in the mood of the whole game. The graphics were such a big step ahead, too. I just found that game really well done.
@@KuroHebi Apart from graphical fidelity BF1 really has very little in terms of accurate portrayal of war. Let alone WW1. It's still a fun game. But calling it accurate to any degree is just laughable.
@@KuroHebi Yup BF1 is sooo accurate, every marksman in Germany was black, nobody used bolt actions, Trench warfare is actually a myth, everyone just ran around no mans land in random directions and every battle was fought with combined arms tactics. Reminds me so much of WW1 not just a horribly inaccurate WW1 overhaul mod for Battlefield 4.

Some of the co-op maps are pretty big which is what a lot of the player base plays, especially with the addition of mods, some of the maps people made are massive, 15+ objs on one map lol.

I played it a lot. But honestly the visual design in that game is God awful, and I'm not talking about graphics.
I wish he went more into it. There's just moments in planetside that you wont ever have in other games. I remember dropping with hundreds of players in a mass galaxy drop, or tank columns of 30+ going to take over an area, air squads of hundreds of pilots dogfighting over my position. It's a truly great game.
Still waiting for a spiritual successor of PS2... maybe in modern era. I'd play and pay the shit out of it.

EA sure had a hand in it.. but it was DICE that killed BFV, just like their last 3-4 games. They've been pumping trash since BF3/BF4
It is a whole lot of mess in one bucket for BF5. First they tried to please that Anita lady which didn't bode well for players, then secondly they try to add Fortnite-style MTX into Battlefield. They tried replacing the Pay 4 Content scheme in previous game with Live Service with skin monetization. They should have known that BF players are not Fortnite players, most will just stick with default skin or just buy 1 and move on unlike many Fortnite player who buy skins almost every season.
Ea did my Dice dirty for the last time, battlefield and battlefront has always been the best and it still is. But they ruin it with those micro transactions.
I own all of these games except for Starwars Battlefront 2. I highly recommend all of them, I have at least a couple hundred hours in most of these games and still happily play them all today. Planetside 2 will give you the best "Battlefield" feel in my opinion due to the way vehicles work. Squad also has some fantastic vehicle gameplay (Tanks, Technicals, Helis)!
You should totally get battlefront 2 it's great! The wait times are awful but it's worth it for battlefield esque star wars combat! Very cool in my opinion!

You should definitely get battlefront! If you want a battlefield-esque mode play supremacy since it is large scale and command posts. It definitely has its issues such as the wait times and some annoying bugs but when you get into it it’s a lot of fun and immersive!
Even though Battlefront support is also at an end, it's worth it. 100%.
@@GarlicSoda Kind of/Not really, Project Reality is the BF mod that led to Squad. Squad isn't PR though, which is a complaint of some of the initial investors even though they said off the bat it wasn't going to be PR2 but something similar. Now Squad is something different than BF, sure the idea of large conquest is the same but in every other aspect it is so much better than BF EXCEPT you can't fly jets (yet/maybe ever) and you are more team dependent so sometimes I can't RPG when I wants to RPG. BF is a strategic arcade fpshooter, Squad is tactical milsimish fps.
I love RS2s delayed killfeed, it makes it less about if you got the kill and more is the threat taken care of

Precisely.. the rate of death is bloody absurd. Like you can be as experienced as you like at fps games but HLL will give even the biggest sweatlords a reality check. Fkn love it.
I know this was a long time ago but i would like to say... coming from both games hll is a bit more arcadey than post scritum.
The biggest problem however is that the 'realistic first person shooter' isn't what Battlefield games are. Battlefield is more blockbuster than realistic, so a realism shooter isn't a relevant alternative. It's a shame that no one has perfected Battlefield better than Battlefield because others tend to focus too much on the realism in spite of what makes Battlefield so addictive in the first place.
There's nothing wrong with realism shooters -- I love a good round of Arma 3 -- but games like Arma 3 aren't the same genre as Battlefield and as such aren't what I would advocate as a 'better' alternative to an archady blockbuster shooter.
Exactly this. Battlefield is focused around arcade style gameplay with epic action, not "realism". People carry 240 bullets on them, mags just refill, etc. but this all makes it more accessible to the common player who's focused on casual gameplay. And there still is skill, teamwork, and coordination as well as bits of realism, tied together in a very beautiful graphical package but it's not anything like ARMA or Squad or Insurgency.

Babyjoshy5 Look at BF2. It was a perfect balance between a tactical shooter and a somewhat casual fps. Gonna guess you either started in the BC or BF3 era, where they shifted the focus to become a run and gun game.

I played it on a free week end and it's really good. It's more chill than Squad and you don't have to communicate. It's optimized. The maps are different enough...
They have also added talisova winter war mod so u can play in ww2

The TTK is one of my favourite. Like if you happen to be on the flight path of a random stray bullet, it could end you instantly.
Hands down my favorite shooter, hearing people RP as Vietcong while you dug in an objective while mortars rain down around you is terrifying and amazing at the same time
As someone who usually plays the domination kind of gamemodes, what i always liked about Battlefront games is the feeling that you really have to plow trough to the next ccontrolpoint. It always feels like a non-stop war. The maps are always somewhat bottlenecked into 3 paths 'left,right, middle" but because of the big differences in verticallity and large amount of cover it gives you lots of options to flank and outplay others. The large player numbers and fairly fast respawns, keep the reinforcements coming so you need multiple small battle victories to make progress on the map. But when you manage it, it feels very rewarding and it leads to many satisfying clips.
By far my favorite large scale shooter was rising storm 2. Completely loved the TTK, the weapons, the setting, and the community
Planetside 2 is releasing a new update soon that adds the Goliath tank, which is meant to be a 5 man tank with four heavy MG's on each of it's four tracks with a main gun thats massive and gunned by the driver. Its meant to be the land equivalent of the Baston, which is the "Mega ship" Drewski mentioned. mind you, the Bastion is MUCH bigger and has like, twice as many guns.

Unkn0wn_G It makes me really sad that people still hate on Dice’s Battlefront 2. The game is actually really good at its core and ever since EA pulled the microtransactions out of the game (which they did at launch), Dice has been pouring their hearts into it trying to make it the best Star Wars game they could. And they definitely succeeded. If you haven’t played the game since it’s early days or even at all, I highly recommend you do so because it’s totally worth it!
@@CaptainLegend I played it on my brother's PS4 since its free there. Maybe it's decent or something if you've never played the original. The biggest disappointment by far is that they don't have Galactic Conquest, I loved that mix of turn based strategy and FPS combat. It doesn't have a good story which actually make you care about characters, like the original 2005 game did with the 501 clone army. The space battles aren't even close as epic as in the old game, you had 2 mothers ships with separate weak spots and targets like shields/bridge/engine/sensor etc, 4 big friggats covering the flanks of the mothership and you could literally fly inside of the enemy ship and destroy it as infantery from within and take some mates with you in a transport ship. It's sad that a 15 year old PS2 game has more content then this new AAA Battlefront.
@@vatu well yeah, og bf2 has some better quirks, but new bf2 has its own quirks, with how hero's lightsavwe combaf worka, class customization, and it's fycking gorgeous.
@@phantomxpotato3184 As far as I saw the lightsaber combate is the same but they made the heroes have much more HP, literal bullet sponges, witch is frustrating to play against imo. Yeah, the class costomization is nice I guess

It still looks beautiful. For a 2012 game, the ultra settings still look better than some 2015-2020 games.

As a Planetside vet it makes me so happy that people still play it and reccomend it. Been playing it since 2014 and still love it. As for the P2W it's very mild at the best of times. Newcomers say it is P2W because you can buy all the guns with MTX, but since all the guns are sidegrades anyway, it doesn't matter. The starter loadout is the most versatile one.
There's also the implants (perks) which you can craft with in-game resources gained over time or get them in lootboxes. They are the most P2W aspect, but even that is very mild as the bonuses they give aren't really gamechanging and you need to be quite experienced to take full advantage of them.
Cert farming is also pretty easy if you know what you're doing. I managed to scrounge up enough certs to buy an AA missile launcher just by sticking with my squad as a medic for at few hours. I'm sure there's more efficient ways, but that's one of the easier methods that are easily accesible by players.

I still prefer Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad over RO/Rising Storm: Vietnam, especially for the gunplay.
But both are great.
gunplay in RS2 feels better imo but the cover system in RO2 was pretty interesting and I still play it occasionally because few multiplayer FPS games nail the atmosphere as well as RO2.

First of all, thank you for talking about Planetside 2. There's certain points you touched I would like to add to: PS2 isn't pay to win, I can't talk about how it used to be but right now you get enough currency to get about 60% of the upgrades for a certain class (out of six) and at level 15 you get an option to refund almost all you purchases so you can invest them on the class(es) you enjoyed the most. Yes, you can buy guns with real money but non-default weapons are sidegrades, they specialize in a certain area but are worse in others; the most well-rounded weapons are actually the default ones! I made a new character a couple days ago an at level 14 I have already gotten (but now completely) upgraded everything a meta Heavy Assault needs.
Now, the developers of PS2 weren't bought. If I remember correctly they just separated from the company they belonged to.
If anyone who is considering trying it out in the NA server, I would love to help you with you first hours, just tell me here :)

Halo's Big Team Battle game mode is alot of fun, its only 8v8 but the maps make sure you are always in combat.
Insurgency is not an easy to jump into game. Maybe for a Squad vétéran it is, but the game has an incredibly well developed meta and the learning curve on competitive gamemodes is steep. The team death match mode is quite similar to the TDM from Battlefield 4 though in that they’re both fantastic fun.
Yes, Planetside2 is on the list, I am glad at least a few prominent TH-camrs give that game some credit, because after years there's still nothing like it.

Squad isn't "easy" to get into in my humble opinion.
It's extremely to get into Squad.
But if the team does nothing then the game is just boring and uninteresting.
I wouldn't say it's hard, just takes time to learn. You can't just jump in and be a squad leader in your first game. For a players first match I'd say he only needs to do 2 things: pick medic and stick with your squad.

Would love to play squad on XSX, I know the amount of commands would make games like Squad and Arma3 difficult but I also think that in that case a secondary “controller” or mini keyboard device or a wheel system could be cool to allow the port to be easy.

Love how you added Battlefront 2 in this. I still play that game to this day but in only the Heros VS. Villians mode. the other modes are sadly dead. Hopefully a Battlefront 3 comes out and is as good as this.

Thanks for putting planetside 2. And about that "they got bought out" part, let me clarify. The developers were being handheld by the corporate structure and the other corporate game ideas failed and planetside 2 was still going strong, so they decided to give them a different name without having to be under the corporate staff direction all the time making them try to drag updates out in favor of cash grabs. So yeah... rogue planet games is the same daybreak team just more expanded since they're finally getting support to the game since planetside arena flopped, and the other games that daybreak keeps putting out aren't as popular. So now planetside 2 is getting consistent updates again for the first time since 2011 or so, and we're getting some every month or two with LOTS of content compared to the past years of updates just being a new weapon every few months.
Unfortunately, the PS4 updates are lacking. Hope the PS5 version is being worked on.
Ps5 might suck, i am getting a new PC instead, anyway ps4 handles high-graphic games kind of bad.

Thank god a big name is throwing Planetside 2 out there. We all know it's one of those games nobody's heard of and wishes they'd heard of it sooner. Everyone I've told about it is absolutely stunned warfare of this scale was possible in a game.

My way to play planetside 2 is to gear out the stealth class for as much invisibility as possible, change keybinds so lm is knife and sneak around enemy bases shanking people. Had some crazy cinematic moments sneaking through enemy convoys planting explosives and such

Planetside a pay to win? I never paid and everytime i play i'm on a rampage.
Fak A Yu well to be fair the way PS2 progression works makes the base kit a viable choice for all three factions, and most of the guns are usually sidegrades rather than upgrades. Vehicles are a bit different though.

You can skip 6 months grind with as little as £20. Having instant access to lock on launcher and AP rounds for your tank give you an advantage over the other newbies.
Blue Slush Like I said, vehicles are a different story. That being said, for 20$ at least it’s a good upgrade, and technically you don’t exactly win every single fight now that you have lock on AA or AP rounds.
Blue Slush it’s not that big of an advantage. All of the purchasable content is reasonably priced. You start off with balanced class abilities from the beginning. People who think it’s pay to win are just too broke to afford the content that gives them a little boost or too lazy to grind for a couple weeks to get the same crap. I unlocked all jet abilities to level 5 by grinding. You just have to play objective. There are plenty of objectives and challenges to complete for more currency.
Rising storm 2 Vietnam was just on sale on steam so there have been a ton of new players.
Rising Storm Red Orchestra was one of the first PC games my brother let me play. Some of my fondest gaming moments come from RSRO
ive played planetside 2 and my favorite moment is when me and a squad of 50 or so people had to fend of atleast 100 enemies, we ended up losing man after man but put up a good fight
We had a similar scenario where me and my friends and about half of our team (new conglomerates) were holding this one spot in the middle of indar holding off the vanu from the East and the other faction from the west. It was the most fun I have ever had
I love and still play Planetside 2! It’s recently been optimized even further to run a lot better and had a huge increase in players! Would definitely recommend and plus.... it’s free!

Planetside 2 is on PS4, but yeah, most of this list is unfortunately PC. Plus the PS4 release of Planetside 2 isn’t completely stable and can blue screen from time to time, which sucks, because it runs surprisingly well on my 2014 PS4 to this day

Nick A no a proper WW2 Battlefield would have bolstered the franchise. Instead they shoehorned an SJW agenda into the game making it a revisionist version of history. That’s what truly killed the franchise, nobody wants politics in their Battlefield

I think as a far stretch you should have included project reality and just explain what it is and how different it is from Squad especially since it is free and with its recent update included WW2 combat in as well.
Agreed. Dated graphics aside, PR and PR:WW2 still more than hold their own against new games. And free....

@@damienmb2365 I'd argue that the game doesn't really have many flaws in itself, other than the low inactivity. Definitely a little archaic at first, but the game is very playable and enjoyable, hosting some of my favorite moments while playing any game... ever.

I'm a pretty big ww2 nerd and I collect old firearms from ww2 and I can say after playing post scriptum the devs were very faithful to the weaponry and gear, I have all sorts of ww2 guns but my favorite is the M1 garand and everytime I use it in post scriptum I wanna drive to my local range and pop off a few rounds. I love when games are faithful to history to the extent someone like me can geek out over something as small as a reload or uniform designs

OWI (developers of squad) have also come out with beyond the wire on top of Post scriptum and Squad. Beyond the wire is a ww1 verson of squad and post scriptum
One big difference with hell let loose is that there is a progression system. You unlock class sets and cosmetics as you grind different classes. So if you play the game you can spot the veterancy of a player in his role off the bat. Plus a level system to see the overall veterancy.
I've been playing BF3 and BF4 for almost a decade... Games still slap. BF3 aftermath with the earthquakes and dusty old Phoenix, Rhino, XBow.. shit is so fun to play.

I’ve been playing Project Reality for a few weeks now and it quickly became my favorite. It’s free to play, has 100 player servers, land sea air, and it’s very light weight (runs well on low end pc). If graphic isn’t a deal breaker for you, it’s definitely worth a shot.

I have never had as much fun and fulfillment in a game as being a Transport Pilot in RS2 and being the first Huey to touch down on the beach of Resort (and usually, by extension, capture the objective instantly because people *still* somehow don't realise that all you have to do to win as the defending team on that map is SIT ON THE DAMNED BEACH).
I have more fun in my Huey than as infantry, as long as I actually get passengers. that's not to say infantry or attack helo gameplay isn't fun; they're all certainly very fun, and I've had some crazy intense firefights on the ground, but I just love my Huey.
something about being in control of the South's biggest mobility advantage is just immensely cool. landing a squad on an objective and getting back in the air just in time to miss Nguyen's RPG fire only to do the same thing halfway across the map in the span of just a couple dozen seconds is immensely satisfying, and nothing makes you feel quite as badass as when you get your tail boom shot off and have to fly some 800m around a mountain in order to get back to a helipad to get the bird fixed--*and successfully completing that flight.* something something, _you spin me right round baby, right round, like a record baby, right round, round, round,_ aaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllll the way back to base.
and don't even get me started on when you're flying a squad to an objective near the end of the game and someone in your Huey is blasting Fortunate Son, Flight of the Valkyries, or Napalm Sticks to Kids. _absolutely wonderful._

I really like Rising Storm 2 Vietnam. Its so raw and intense even without vehicles (except for the helicopters). And for me personally its also a good balance between too realistic/hardcore like Squad or Arma and too casual like CoD or Battlefield.
There is no other game that gets me as excited as this one when rushing with teammates through the jungle while artillery fire is raining down on you and you start shooting every single bush that slightly moves in case there is someone hiding. Rising Storm 2 makes spray and pray fun and intense.

Honestly I agree with your opinion with squad in regards to player count it kinda feels empty without being in the very front line of the battles
Planetside 2 is one of the greatest games I have ever played. I have seen a 1500 person battle. No game before or since has done that. Its more pay to honk than pay to win. If you team up with a buddy, and be smart about what you use, it's super easy to get certs quickly.

rs2 is by far the best casual/hardcore shooter for a person to get into if theyre just getting into realistic games, the community welcomes fngs but despises them at the same time.
