Hi Ricard, this is a great and interesting explanation of, what's actually happen in the old Contax IIa / IIIa, your camera look's very good after the repair. It have give me inspiration to go much deeper into my old Contax's IIa and IIIa, they need some care. Keep up your good work :-) Best regard's from Kenneth
The best explanation that I could see on the web, I have my contax IIIa disassembled on the operating table trying to solve a problem if you admit questions about this, I would like to ask you something congratulations on your video
Mr. Haw! Excellent video on the IIa. I am following your guide for the repair of my Contax II right now. I am running into issues resetting the shutter correctly, and it will not wind completely, only about halfway by resetting the shutter how youve described in your website. Any advice on what I am missing? Help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Richard, thanks for the fantastic video. And I CLA my contax IIa camera and adjust the shutter,But I have a problem:The 1/1250 speed is missing after I CLA my camera,The shutter can move but it can not open when its work by 1/1250 speed. Best regards
Very informative, thank you! So, if I understand well, with the screw below in the film compartment you tension the spring governing shutter slag? My Contaxes all sound different, those never opened a very silent, almost like an Leica M, whereas those which obviously have been tinkered with sound like air guns. Have you got any explanation for this by chance?
Richard, thanks for the fantastic video explaining the shutter's inner workings. I have just finished my 4th Contax IIa/IIIa overhaul and this video allowed me to get to the best result yet. Question of the adjustment of the speeds: I have found that after a thorough Clean & Lubricate and correct setting of the Shutter tension (lowest tension with no shading at 1/1250), trying to adjust the positions of the slow speed cam and high speed cam on the 2nd curtain, just made things worse and brought only very marginal changes in the measured speeds. Is this your experience too or am I doing something wrong? Marco
Hi Richard, please allow me a question, is there any spring inside the top curtain drum? in my camera when I load the superoor drum does not pick up the curtain it is left wrinkling as it goes up, so I ask the question
@@richardhaw9757 very well, thanks for the answer, I wonder why then my upper pickup roller during loading does not wind the curtain, that is the point where I am stuck, because the loading force is only on the right conical wheel but not I see nothing dragging that drum during pickup, i have learning a lot of contax rangefinders , but its not enought evidentemente

Richard, do you have a source for the shutter cords for this camera?

i dont think so. its just a roller.

Hi Richard ,can you all so share how to adjust the image of viewfinder.
Hi Richard, thanks for the great vid. Can you demonstrate how the B and T mode works? My iiia shutter refuses to stay open at B mode. Thanks a lot,
You have to press the shutter button half way down. Mine was like that
Very good.
