    This made me pretty sad just because Native people are so underrepresented (as well as misrepresented) and underappreciated, but I'm really glad to know her family is trying to preserve their language and culture. Native culture is sacred and beautiful and we must ALL protect it so it isn't further wiped out. We cannot forget that we are all living on Native land, we must respect it and learn.

    This family had always worked hard for their tribe. Every year they would have a camp for kids to help learn the ways of native living. I remember being excited every year just for camp! Wonderful family. Truly they are. I would have never been able to get through school if it wasn't for this Family. Much love guys! I'm so excited for you all. Can't wait to have our own copy Of the kalapuya dictionary in our house!!

    After recent events in the world, it baffles me why we aren't teaching this in schools more. Their culture is so peaceful and beautiful.

      Cause they’d rather teach that Christopher Columbus “discovered” America😒🙄

      Ya, Honestly coming from someone that knows alot about history there should be more, and not about races, more about the cultures, because we are all humans but we all have different cultures

    • @Meliuni
      @Meliuni 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean we are not so different so i dont get why schools are trying to force kids to learn that people are different we are all humans with different lifes

    • @VaBarbie187
      @VaBarbie187 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Meliuni We are different though. We are different races with different cultures. My race isn’t the same as your race or the race of someone else. Schools should teach about different races and the struggles and triumphs of those races.
      While we are all human, our races and cultures are far different.

    • @Meliuni
      @Meliuni 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean some gods in culture might be different but it really is the same god in idea tho just different teaching of the god, i mean i think race should just be human since techinally speaking soon theres gonna be martians

    Buzzfeed, TY is not enough, but our tribal hearts are most humble n grateful for taking the initiative towards preserving our ancestors history forevermore. I may be from a different tribe, but collectively as one, it is still breathtaking to see good causes come back to this world fulfilled.

    I absolutely love this! I’m so proud to have gotten to know this family.. They have always been grounded in their ancestral roots and never losing sight of how important preserving culture is.
    Especially throughout all these small communities on the Oregon coast. Many are directly named for tribes originally settled in that area.
    Our local history and our family history are so important to understanding ourselves and our place in the world. I’m so glad this project is getting the attention it deserves.

    My grandmother was one of less than a thousand people to speak her language. It pains me that I never asked her to teach it to me, but I didn't understand at the time because I was young. Really cool that they're conserving the language, but I hope their American accent doesn't kill the natural sound of the language.

    Woow woow woow. Language is the people and people is the language. A country like the USA will never support native people and their language to proserve them. They are disappearing and most of them will be lost for sure. In order to protect and develop or adapt a culture and language in the modern they you need autonom power or at least status in state institutions. These people need modern cities that they can run every institution in their language with its documents and records.
