  • A talk by the University of Buffalo Scholar in Residence Tricia Matthew, based on her research trip to seven cities in the United Kingdom, this talk focuses on abolition, Josiah Wedgwood, and women as consumers. When we pay attention to the ways that the three intersect, we can better understand Regency-era culture and the rituals it taught women to follow as they participated more fully in public debates.
The video begins with our JASNA meeting and our Jane Austen birthday celebration. The presentation begins at the 00:26 minute mark and is then followed by questions.
