Hey man I have the same exact ski and just got a top end on the cylinder what was the break in process??? Do I let it idol for a while first? Whole connected to water? I try to hit the gas and it stalls out after idoling for a few second
Thanks for sharing this video I have a similar motor in my sportster boat 2004 After sitting 2 years I went to start it up and go figure it’s locked up. Left hand cylinder was rusted. Unfortunately I didn’t know till after I tried to start it. Maybe I’ll attempt to take cover off head and see how bad it is. I really appreciate you showing what it takes. Thank you sir.
Cool Video, I'm finding that there is not a lot of shops that work on these old ones anymore. I may have to start working on them myself! I have a 2003 GTX DI
friend, I did the same work on my 2002 gtx di and I also got the same result with good compression in the cylinders, reaching more than 6300 rpm out of the water, but when it's in the water it doesn't go above 3360 rpm and 13mph, do you have any idea what what could it be?
I am getting ready to order an SBT cylinder reman kit, I noticed that hull is the old hull, my hull is much bigger, it is a 2002. The opening is much bigger and there is a lot more space around the engine. I have installed plenty of pistons and cylinders in Yamaha Waverunners, but this is my first Seadoo top end. It appears you installed the pistons in the cylinders first and then attached them to the rods? I have more room, if that is the case I should be able to do that easily. Yamahas have separate cylinders and you have to put the piston on the rod first.
I have a 1999 GSX Limited and the exhaust hose cracked due to overheating and the ski started to sink. Luckily it never went completely under but I can't figure out why it started to sink. Back left side where the exhaust valve is located is where the ski took on the water...would that be because the exhaust hose cracked (and crumbled if I'm being honest)? I wonder if there is something else that could've gone wrong when it overheated. Is there another hose/pipe I should look at? I've tried to find a mechanic and they all absolutely despise my model!
Awesome video. My gtx di has no compression in one cylinder and 60 in the other. What do you think caused the power valves to fail? Or are they the root cause?
Awesome video ! I just watch your video , Man you motivate me , I have a 2002 GTX DI won’t rev more than 4,800 rpm and won’t run over 38mph I got frustrated and finished up putting aside but after watching ur video I decide to retake it and give another try , I’m planning to start today with cleaning the Rave valves . Man please any suggestions are welcome , anyways I will let u know any progress .
Would like to start and say thank you for great video have bought same ski and turns out to have the exact same piston cylinder issue. How and what do you use to remove and re install the wrist pins with the crankcase still fitted in the ski? thanks to anyone who can help with this
Where do u get your parts/rebuilt engines from?! mines been broken for 2 years can’t find an engine anywhere so wondering if i should rebuild? Not sure where to get the parts from as i’m from canada but willing to ship from the states.
Hey man I have a seadoo Gtx DI 2001 and I’ve had to remove engine and replace start motor and put engine back in but I’m struggling to find where a cable goes you might be able to help? The solenoid valve the pipes coming out the side which Ts off I don’t know where that goes on the engine any chance you might be able to help? Cheers Marc
Pls help!!! I HAVE THE SAME EXACT jetski and I just got the front cylinder top end rebuilt...what is the proper break in process? Everytime I try to hit the gas it stalls out right away!! Thanks
This is my seadoo and I just got it off the lake and it’s never ran better!! Thanks for a great rebuild man!!!!

Yeah hardly any shops will touch the 2 strokes anymore
is that rattling noise a normal factor of these engines? if so then what is it?

Hey what did you use to get the circlips installed I’m having a hell of time getting them installed.
I usually use a smaller flat head screwdriver
Absolutely must remove the exhaust?? Or just for more room??
Good video
I had that 951 in my RX. That motor pulls hard with a worx intake and solas impeller. Mine was non di version tho.
Yeah they are powerful motors! I've heard the carb version is a bit faster tho.
@@LotLizardDiesel I only had mine for 6 months before it was stolen out of my yard

I just purchased a 2000 and a 2002 GTX bombardier. Both need to be rebuilt. Where is the best place to get rebuild kits for these?
Awesome video. My gtx di has no compression in one cylinder and 60 in the other. What do you think caused the power valves to fail? Or are they the root cause?
They are vacuum powered, but electrically activated. Pull them out and inspect for piston contact and shaft wear of RAVE valves.
the piston swelled from heat causing it to make contact with the valve

Did you ever fix it?

I usually use a socket and tap them out with a small hammer
@@LotLizardDiesel Thanks a lot took your advice and worked great. Struggling to get new pistons into cylinders

If you could provide pictures then I might be able to help. Send them to @lotlizarddiesel facebook or instagram
How many hours were on this ski ?
I believe it was around 108
@@LotLizardDiesel in your opinion, a 2003 GTX 951 DI... same ski but it has 150 hours for 4400... is that a good buy or dangerous buy?
If it runs good, I wouldn't be afraid of it. Check compression
Pls help!!! I HAVE THE SAME EXACT jetski and I just got the front cylinder top end rebuilt...what is the proper break in process? Everytime I try to hit the gas it stalls out right away!! Thanks
That would be another issue not related to break in.. possibly a fuel issue
You have a piston seadoo 951 DI Or not
My piston burns
size87.88
Where I can get a 951 wire harness?
I'd check ebay
