In August 1994 I visited Lisbon, Portugal and while I was walking around the city I was listening to this song at full volume on my walkman.

@DJ AJ Yes. I always find that when I'm listening to full albums, some of the unreleased songs sound better than some of their famous top 40 songs.
@AJ Remixes Mushroom was her label in some countries but PWL was her label in the UK where Kylie’s music career is based in. Mushroom & Geffen were just labels that licensed PWL albums to be distributed and marketed in continents other than Europe. So PWL had the say in what became her singles because her music contracts were signed in Europe. Or something like that. I just know PWL had the rights to total control over her music career for her first 3 albums.

I always thought "Enjoy Yourself" and "Nothing to Lose" were hidden gems on this album. I would have swapped these two with "Wouldn't Change a Thing" and "Never Too Late" as single releases, as I've never really cared for WCAT or NTL even though they were hits.

I've read numerous comments that Kylie wanted this released as the 3rd single of the album but over-ruled by Pete Waterman in favour of Never Too Late. We'll never knew if it would have done better though!

This song was indeed intended to be the _third_ single released from the Enjoy Yourself album. It isn't an urban myth. Music Week ran an article on this, and Smash Hits replied to a readers letter, stating that when the Enjoy Yourself album cover went to print, it was just before Kylie's new song, the more club-orientated, "Wouldn't Change A Thing", was released as a 7" single. Convinced it would debut at number 1, when it peaked at number 2, Pete Waterman panicked, and decided immediately to change direction with Kylie - this led to Never Too Late, a song more befitting to her actual teenage girl fanbase than a nightclub, being released instead of the house infused, Enjoy Yourself, the release of which as a single, was cancelled entirely.
This sudden strategy change also created a problem with the sequencing of the new album. Pete Waterman's desire to have a number 1 song open the album meant that Wouldn't Change A Thing could no longer be track 1 where it was originally sequenced. Enjoy Yourself was also no longer scheduled to be the third single either, so Waterman completely rearranged the track listing to what was actually released - contradicting entirely the track listing on the artwork (although the label itself did list the songs in the correct order). Never Too Late was moved from being the first track on Side 2 (track 6) to the third track where Enjoy Yourself was originally sequenced. That song now closed the album instead...which, fittingly, led nicely into her 1990 album Rhythm of Love which is considered Kylie's first clubby album, yet it all started here with the fabulous "single that never was", Enjoy Yourself.

Actually to answer my own question, Kylie wanted to release it, but SAW saw never to late was a safe bet so it was never to be. It was the can't get you out of my head of the day, or guess we'll never know what could have been.
