I'm glad you mentioned that I couldn't tell in this particular song when he let go how much he truly sounded like John WOW! He sounded like a freaking Beatle!!! 😳
John realised towards the end of his life he had been a terrible father to Julian and was really trying to bond with his son. He began phoning him more often (he actually played the whole Double Fantasy album to Julian down the phone before it was released and wanted Julian's opinion and thoughts on it), for his 17th birthday he wanted to give the gift of a painting of the two of them. Near his death he told Julian to look out for a white feather whenever he would pass away and Julian would know his dad is fine and he's looking out for him. Julian was presented with a white feather by a tribe and he believes it really was a sign from his father like John said all those years ago, so Julian created a charity and called it the white feather foundation. Also, John was writing diaries in the mid 70s onwards and he told his personal assistant Fred Seaman in Bermuda 1980 that if anything was to happen to himself in the near future then he'd want Julian to have his diaries as he felt they could help Julian get to know his father better and John felt Julian deserved to know more about him. When John did die, Fred tried taking the diaries back to England to give them to Julian as John wanted but Yoko got him arrested for stealing property and Yoko got them back. Julian has never seen those diaries, even though it was what John wanted. A quote from John in 1980 is: "I hadn't seen my first son grow up and now here's a 17 year old man on thd phone talking about motorbikes. I was not there for his childhood at all. I was on tour, I don't know how the game works, but there's a price to pay for innattention to childen. And if I don't give him attention from zero to five, then i'm damn well gonna have to give it to him from sixteen to twenty, because it's owed. It's like the law of the universe." Also, Julian said in 1988 in an interview for a documentary called Imagine about John he said "There was no wall facing us anymore, but it had been knocked down and we could actually (pretends to be on the phone) 'hi dad I'd like to come and see you is that okay?' 'Yeah'. It's hard to explain emotions in dealing with that situation especially when we were getting so close."

Elvis started Rockabilly by mixing the two ..Chuck Berry was influenced by white music especially country and so was Fats Domino who was into Country and Western ...you can hear it in their music...so your statement about who the architects is to one sided ..without Elvis rock and roll would not have had the mainstream impact that it did.
It`s a great great shame nobody "looked" after Julian Lennon in this period! Julian was a great talent. Hey. When a "dude"/legend like Chuck Berry recognised Julians talent, there must been something to it. Julian really was great a talent. With better friends etc he would have made it!!

This performance is so filled with joy and exuberance and fun!! It's actually so different from that strained toneless performance from John when he had the chance to play with his idol but his significant other upstaged him (not in a good way). Julian is the man!
I love how humble John is to his own personal musical heroes. A lot of famous people can become arrogant and simply consider themselves better than those who influenced them, but every single Beatle were fans of somebody and when they got to meet them in the flesh they fanboyed just as we would fanboy if we had the chance to meet the beatles. Best part is, they always sent their idols praise in the public eye and to me, that's great.
Yoko Ono you may have destroyed a home and a legend (John Lennon), but you sure could have never destroyed destiny... Julian Lennon was definitly destined to inherit John's genes/talent.
You have the Beatles for me where the best group in the whole world and having Julian and Danny Harrison it's just awesome for me and for the whole world I hope
duru uzun thank you! I agree. Yoko didn’t destroyed his previous marriage, John wasn’t a good husband to Cynthia and wasn’t a good father to Julian either. And Yoko has anything to do with it. She didn’t even destroyed The Beatles

I was delighted to see him perform with the legendary Chuck Berry and singing Johnny B Goode. That performance gave me goosebumps and made me happy. You go Julian 💞💞💞💞. Bravo buddy.....
I think that Chuck Berry said John at the end because Chuck really like John and missed seeing him and when he son his son Julian he reminded Chuck of John. Great video :)

I mean, how arrogant is it that a white guy is declared the "King" of black music???!! No disrespect to Elvis, though. He didn't declare himself the king! White racists dreamed that up!!! We are the experts in Afro American music!!!! No one else!!! Let's stop this shit!!! Chuck Berry, and Little Richard are the KING and Queen of Rock n Roll!!! Let's not allow the world to forget this!!!! Respect, the truth!!! Thanks! Birdlegg, the Hardest Working Man in the Blues! Austin,Texas, USA!
Gene Pittman I agree completely! But I may be a bit biased since I wasn't alive to see Elvis' rise.
Rock and Roll was a combination of R and B with Country music elements.
Atomicflash500 then The Beatles come around
Well at least you're not bitter.
So sad to hear that Chuck Berry passed away.
He was the true King of Rock & Roll.
pachma surely missed and cherished. his music keeps his soul alive.
Don't forget about Elvis
More like the forefather
"John... Julian Lennon." I love this man!
Even though it was his song he let Julian shine chuck berry is an absolute icon
It`s a great great shame nobody "looked" after Julian Lennon in this period! Julian was a great talent. Hey. When a "dude"/legend like Chuck Berry recognised Julians talent, there must been something to it.
Julian really was great a talent. With better friends etc he would have made it!!
Check out julianlennon.com to checkout what Julian is up to Now.
Don't worry, he made it
he did make it
to think this kid literally has one of the best songs of all time written for him
its hey jude btw
Mario Mestre No that was for sean.

Mark Chapman was a low IQ prick who was chosen for MK Ultra mind-programming to perform a duty for the States. John had recently defeated repeated attempts by the US to prevent him living there or obtaining a Green Card. John's people won and you must know that the good ole U S A can't be seen to lose........fuck them
Damn right he is Chuck
+Stewart Nicol as BILLY CONNOLLY Not even worth mentioning his name.
It’s been over 30 years since I heard this performance. Now as then I am struck by the intensity of Julian’s vocals & the affection between Julian & Chuck Berry.
Julian sang this with Chuck far better than John did.
John Hylton I agree!
Julian ought to have covered "Leave My Kitten Alone" around that same time....
truth.
Nah
I agree, I thought John was actually cringey to hear singing with Chuck Berry in this
It is so cool, that a man who Invented Rock-N-Roll, could be so generous, to so many young performers. Chuck Berry is not only the King of Rock-N-Roll, but one more great Human Being. It's hard to comprehend that he is almost 90 years old! Long live Chuck Berry and long live Rock-N-Roll!
david burns well technically Ike Turner wrote the first Rock and Roll song, "Rocket 88". But Chuck Berry was definitely one of the forefathers and mastered the art.
But he liked to watch women maka toilet.
dead now
omG.... he's got a bit of that Lennon scream 😨
i started tearing up at first... my sons also lost their Dad at a young age, the pain is horrendous... im so glad Mr. Berry did this with julian, its fantastic
How did YOUR sons lose their dad if you're still here?

Damn! Julian Lennon, Chuck Berry and Keith Richards together playing and singing an hymn of rock & roll, they're awesome! 🤘
This was so beautiful. Chuck really cared about this young man. RIP Mr. Berry.
THE GOD FATHER OF ROCK & ROLL
CHUCK BERRY
I didn't know Julian can sing that good! He's awesome!
Francisco Julian Lennon rocks
Julian Lennon is the greatest bestest Rockstar
Julian had a couple of albums out with a couple of pretty popular songs ... he is a good musician and has a great voice.
He killed it!!! Awesome
He’s ass wym
This is the first time I’ve heard Julian’s singing, and I was absolutely mesmerized.
Julian Lennon and Dhani Harrison both look and sound like their father...
Edit (Again): Wow now we're in the thousands of likes. Many more thank you's!
And James couldn't be more different than Paul
James actually looks pretty similar to paul imo
They could make the one and only ultimate Beatles coverband
@@Ryan23H James looks like a mixture of his mom and dad, unfortunately not the best physical characteristics of either. Not his fault, though.
Julian looks like John because Cynthia kind of looked like John, too(especially in earlier pictures).
Bloody hell he's got his Da's voice as well as his looks .
Chuck berry “Tell Papa hello”
Julian “I will”
Chuck berry “ I’ll tell you what he says..”
then I think he says Ima see him before you
Mario 11 You just made me cry.
😭
What is that mean?
@@papawanker1554 this is 6 years after John’s assassination and chuck is implying that he’s old and will see John in the after life before Julian
This made me cry
Chuck's just happy Julian didn't drag Yoko onto stage, too! 😂
😂😂😂
Above all 😂😂😂😂that
This just makes me smile ear to ear.
I have to admit that I was expecting for Julian to pick up a guitar as well.
Johnny is good
At least Yoko didn’t do her breeding call.
LMAO

A heavily underrated comment...
O NO

He really looks like his dad!
Robert King He sounds even more like his dad!
Sounds like him too!
Like Chuck Berry said in his song: "You never can tell". Ask Ronan Farrow!
I've never seen Chuck Berry's dad, but I'll take your word for it!
You missed the point. With 'Chuck Berry said in his song: "You never can tell"' I meant you never can tell who your real father is. Ask Ronan Farrow (Mia Farrow's and Woody Allen's son who is a Frank Sinatra lookalike!)
This was excellent. Chuck Berry and Julian Lennon together performing one of the great rock and roll songs. Chuck was definitely the leader of rock and roll and was the pathfinder for everyone who came after.
Wow, the cinematography is absolutely amazing, from time to time it looks like this is straight out of a feature film.
Yes, it was straight out of a feature film called "Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll"!
OMG Julian Lennon = John Lennon in Quarrymens.
When julian sings " go johnny go go", he sounds like john did in Hamburg!!👍👍💖💕💓😊😁
Oh yes ^^

The affection & chemistry here is amazing. What a big heart Chuck Berry had.
By The Way - Julian's vocal chords are an exact DNA match to John's. I love Julian!
Chuck Berry king of rock n roll. You having a laugh😃😃. You mean Buddy Holly don't you?
He is a literal twin of his father. I really wish the remaining Beatles would get Julian and Dhani to do a tribute show!
jnixa1010 thatd be such a dream! with zak starkey on drums!
Chick was transported back in time - he called Julian John. You can see in Julian's face he felt emotional right then.
That was awesome! What a thrill that must’ve been for Julian. He did a great job and even nailed Chuck’s trademark duck walk❤️🙏
Hello 👋 Joan. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I'm Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado, where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
2:17. it was at this moment that he knew. he forgot the lyrics
Julian is so cute and can sing right along with Chuck Berry holding his own. He's so amazing and I love him
This made me feel so good! the accolades that Chuck showed Julian.Julian was definitely positive and happy in response. It was almost fatherly. Loved it.
King Leonard this isn't normal but on meth it is. Cool down and grab a beer...
Anyone else find it hilarious how Julian's voice meshes so so much better with Chuck's than John's ever did (at least in the performance we saw between the two)?
Yeah Julian and chuck berry sound great together
Probably because unlike the John and Chuck performance they actually rehearsed for this one
He even duplicated John’s famous raspy Beatle scream in parts of the song!
It's just gold 🤩
It was epic!
We ll never forget U, Chuck!
Julian is amazing like his father

Thank you Chuck Berry for this beautiful tribute to John Lennon with his son Julian ☺️
1:15 "LOOK AT HIM... AIN'T HE LIKE HIS PA, YEAH!!!"

You could also see the love Chuck felt with Julian being there
Sweet Writer39 lots to be proud of.
If John gave two fucks about julian he wouldn'tve left him
@@alencia7203 one reply in a comment thread explains how the bond was fixed
Yeah he would be so proud of the son he abused and abandoned
Hey Jules,
You don’t have to be good.
You’re already the best.
Chuck Berry looks godly on stage it's totally incredible
An astounding performance by Julian Lennon- sounds just his dad but better! The resemblance is uncanny. And what Chuck says at the end of this remarkable performance is loving and heartbreaking.
Hello Kristi,
How're you doing?
Thank you for your love and support and also for being an amazing fan.
It's nice meeting you here 🌹

Chuck Berry was the "Mark Twain of Rock 'n' Roll". Julian's daddy would've been so proud to see this great performance. He's not resting on John's accomplishments. Julian is really singing with heart & soul!
Wrong! Chuck Berry was the king of rock and roll. That Mark Twain thing maybe was Elvis. LOL
Chuck performed with the two greatest Lennons!
WalkingBlueRaven Cook sean lennon is pretty damn good
Hello Walking, how are you doing?
That was so touching to hear the legendary Chuck Berry pay tribute to another fellow legend and to see the love and giving way he treated Julian! Those were the legends! Today--let's kill the other guy and the masses are enthralled by those behaviors! Blows one's mind!
GREAT performance!!!. Julian did it, EXCELLENT!!!. Julian looks a lot like John, and his voice is similar to his father. I LOVED IT!!!. RIP in Heaven, John Lennon and Chuck Berry. I miss you sooo much, my lovely John!. ❤

being the son of the greatest musician who ever lived is hard to live up to, but I think he pulls it off.
@Boston Rotten It is!
He isn't David Bowie's son, wdym?
The greatest musician? come on dude the biggest pop star yes, greatest musician not even close.
@@evangelicae_rationis XD No offense to David Bowie but no.
" Tell Papa i say hello " at the end is very sweet. Chuck Berry, Keith Richards & Julian Lennon. Good stuff. Chuck is the master of course.... Long live rock n roll.......
A little awkward, since John was long dead.
You sure he didn’t say,” tell mama hello.” Or, was about to say pa and realized he meant ma 🤔
It's almost the complete opposite if today's climate
And Keith Richards certainly has too about Chuck Berry.
Norma Salazar Yoko did everything to keep him from inheriting his dads estate tho. Sad but true. He has been buying his dads memorbilia for years .
Julian Lennon is an artist and has a great voice which you never can find in Sean Ono.
She didn't do anything to John. He was an adult, and he destroyed HIMSELF. I don't like Yoko to, but she is not a destroyer. Deal with it
duru uzun thank you! I agree. Yoko didn’t destroyed his previous marriage, John wasn’t a good husband to Cynthia and wasn’t a good father to Julian either. And Yoko has anything to do with it. She didn’t even destroyed The Beatles
GOOSEBUMPS ALL THE TIME-when Julian singing GO JOHNNY B GOOD:))) Sounds like father!
i know, huh?!? 😏
I just saw the video of John singing with Chuck, and yeah. Exactly the same!
I'd even say Julian is better that John. He definitely had more of an electric style.
Julian Lennon is a remarkably talented in his own right. He may be John Lennon's son but does not live in his father's shadow.
It could go both ways: Julian's full name is John Charles Julian Lennon.
Gina Miller yea i thought he called him John by mistake but now I've watched it a few times I'm pretty sure he called him John as a kind of compliment to Julian.
nah, his name is John Julian Lennon
I think he said it because it's his fucking name.
They also sang "Johhny" a lot which is why I think he slipped up.
Julian is sooo amazing ! & KEITH seems to ALWAYS be there when some amazing R&R is happening ;) LOVE THIS!
+donna stitz Agreed! So sad Julian was badly supported after this. In the midd 80`s. Listening to the words of the legend Mr Chuck Berry!! My(your) God!! So sad Julian was "outed" He was the greatest talent of the Beatles children. Rest is history
Julian looks like his Dad at that age when John was in The Quarrymen 👍
This is what happens when you shoot on high quality film. The light gets preserved and travels between the grain better than any digital camera ever could.
I feel really bad for Julian here. You can tell he feels trapped in his dads shadow
