- Kelsey Grammer is returning to the titular role in the new season of Frasier, but since the show ended its first run, John Mahoney, who played his father Martin Crane in the show, has passed away.
Kelsey tells us just how hard it was to make the show without his close friend.

I love the reboot 💙. Thank you, Kelsey, for a great show. 👍
We will miss John too.
I watched every show at least 3 times. I will miss John Mahoney. He gave what I called common sense to the two sons. I loved his character, and his acting was superb...
I miss John so much, but the throwbacks of the new series always make me smile.
John’s character almost drives the series. The reflections and call backs are incredible
God I want second season
Such an amazing man, he’s iconic💛 I hope we get a second season with more guest appearances from Cheers&Frasier🔜
Touching interview... to this day, Kelsey Grammer still gets choked up talking about John Mahoney… they must have been really close. But then again, the cast of the Original Frasier was a tight-knit group. I miss Martin too - RIP.
Yeah. They helped Kelsey and persuaded him to get help after he got into some trouble with the law in the 90's.
Love Frasier and kelsey
Great interview.
What a lovely man
I Love You My Buddy Kelsey Grammer. We Need Season 2 Please ☺❤
Kelsey seems like a good guy.
Fraiser is Witty and Fun and Side Show Bob is Hilariously Evil! What More Could You Ask for?❤
Your the best actor
He was also beast in X-men.
The original was so successful and so revered because of every cast member the least of which was Kelsey Grammer.
What on earth are you talking about? He's a remarkable actor and character. You're in a sulky mood? What is it?
John = Marty and Moose = Eddie. Were just as outstanding in the cast, as any of the rest of them. A Million smiles and laughs were repeatedly gifted To ME from both of them . . annnd I'm still in LoVe with Roz Today. I still just can't admit to a 1st Fave. But Raymond, Frazier, Seinfeld, Cheers, Newhart < Larry, Daryl n Daryl, Wings and ( Ted Danson ) as John BECKER, were ALL just Excellent Entertainment years ago. " I Hope FRAZIER 2 Does WELL " as there aren't any GOOD sitcoms made that I'd ever pay for anymore...
Oh yah, IF I ever find the complete 1st DVD Series of Tim Allen with Nancy Travis and their TV 3 daughters sitcom re: the outdoor store. . I'd watch IT More Than a few times over also !!! Check out Many GReat ( miserable Dr. ) ' BECKER ' Episode's here on YT 4 Free !
I wonder what John would have to say about Kelsey's (ongoing) support for the likes of Trump etc
He would support him.
John would know that politic is all theatre, because all the celebs sold out to Satan, as did all the politicians. Adults should know this.
John would be smart enough to realize you don’t hate someone because of their political views.
John would possibly disagree but respect that they life in a free country where each of us have our opinions.
Sad that others don’t respect that.
Why are Leftys so brainwashed to hate anyone who doesn't agree with them 100% of the time as to think they're incapable of human emotions?
It's obvious he loves John (as a surrogate father), and misses him terribly.
When I found out Kelsey Grammer is a big Trump supporter, I decided I don’t want to watch anything he’s in.
" GOOD RIDDANCE " Nobody's Ever gonna miss you - Either DemoCrap !
You can disagree with someone's politics and still respect who they are as a human being. I'm totally opposite political wise from Kelsey but I can recognize a survivor and a fighter when I see one and he most definitely fits the bill. He's risen above unbearable tragedy in his life to be who he is today. And that is more important than political affiliation could ever hope to be.
