    Ever thought of having your gray and black tanks power flushed out? "Why would you?" you might be asking. Well, why you think your tanks are clean, they surely do build up "crud" over time that sticks and does not come up with normal flushing and cleaning.

    Hey I just met Todd last week, he did a wash on our rig. Great guy! We were in Fountain Hills AZ. He told me he was flushing someone's tanks and I had never heard of that. Thanx for showing this as I will have this done soon.

    After watching this video I bought a jetter line and head for my 3100psi pressure washer and did mine. Boy was I amazed ! ..now I can do my own when ever I want and for sure at the end of every season. Well worth the small investment.

      LOL... I did the same. :) Even bought a "clean out" connector (I am shocked people actually think that can work!!!) and drill out the part where you would connect a hose so I could then put the pressure washer hose though it. (Keeping that part UP so the bad water can flow down.) One of these... amzn.to/2WRwezv (Guessing that is what you did also.)

    I second the recommendation for TankTeckRX. No more odor in the black or gray tanks in our travel trailer. You can actually open the toilet with the vent fan going and not get gagged out.I had 1/4 tank (14 or so) in the black and Half a tank (apx 28 gal) in the grey when we first put it in right after a trip. I didn't dump out. Instead, I totally filled both tanks with water and a double the dose of TankTechRX and let them sit for two weeks. When I dumped, you could visibly see a huge difference in the way all the stuff came out. I left the recommended one inch in the bottom and it's been good so far. Also, one of the grey tank sensors that had been intermittent works again.I'll be a repeat customer.

    I have often thought that it would be nice to run one of those drain cam's up into the tank after a normal clean out to see what is the condition. I think you're the guy that could make that happen. I quit using my rv power clean out because after using it, I then cleaned it with the old fashioned wand and still got stuff our.

    Check Amazon for sewer cleaning hoses for pressure washers. I just got on for $40 that connects to my electric pressure washer, plus I purchased the elbow tank connector for around $30 so I can do this myself for a lot less than the pro; I hope it works a well your your video. Fill it up with piping hot water and bleach and let it site for a day then dump it. Then when you go camping again put a toilet packet in the sink drain and let it dissolve away. Leave the water in as long as you can do the enzymes or chemicals have a chance to eat away at the crud in the tank.

    Hi David, One thing I haven't really found an answer to. What do you do for the black and grey tanks when you are in an area where there is no such substructure to empty them out and they need to be emptied?

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      One should never put themselves in that type of issue as you know you have X amount of tank space and this you know you will need to dump at some point. Thus planing is the key.

    Wow, really thought tanks were getting pretty well cleaned out. I wonder if you could get away with a similar set up that you could have on board, maybe not as much pressure but more than the rinse. Was this the first time you've done something like this David? Great video as always, and entertaining as well.

    • @starttherebellion9146
      @starttherebellion9146 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, in addition to your black tank flush you could get an inexpensive "swizzle stick". I think Camco makes it. You attach your hose and feed it in through the toilet directly and it will spray 360 degrees at all angles you tilt it. That would get areas of the tank that the built in black tank flush probably doesn't. -- As for the gray tank, you could flush it out, and then close it off and fill with warm water, detergent, and a high concentration of bleach leaving it over night for a good sanitation and then flushing it all out in the morning.

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Had one of those for our other coach. As far as the stick goes, on these coaches the toilet is automated and thus closed the trap. I am not aware of a way to be able to leave it open. Also the issue is that they only can reach right there by the tank and not into the tank. Thanks you though.

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, as mentioned in the blog post that goes with it, it was the first clean out. Glad you like the videos. ;) www.outsideourbubble.com/gray-and-black-rv-tank-flush-out-service

    • @starttherebellion9146
      @starttherebellion9146 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess all rigs are different. I can get mine to stay open and can feed the hose and swizzle stick in far enough to reach the whole tank, all the way to the bottom, and by wiggling the hose it swings the stick all around letting the spinning jets on the end reach a lot areas my regular black tank flush does not. -- I'm sure the pressure wash service you're showcasing here in this video is probably superior, but the OP was asking about something he could keep on board that would be "not as much pressure but more than the rinse".

    • @starttherebellion9146
      @starttherebellion9146 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jeffrey DeRoche - So, compare mine and David's comments and see if you can keep your toilet open before considering the swizzle stick. Also, consider whether or not your tank is positioned like mine, right below the toilet to where you could reach the swizzle stick all the way into the tank.

    I don't own an RV but I get confused. Is it half full or half empty? Does the tank indicator mean water that's drained or does it mean tank water that hasn't been drained?

    • @lauravictorious4670
      @lauravictorious4670 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tank indicator is to let you know how full the tank is. If you've emptied the tanks and the indicator says 1/2 then the sensor is off, which is usually debris causing that.

    I own a Tiffin as well and still wonder why the manufacturers don't put a rinse hookup on the grey tank like they do for the black tank side. Is there some design problem ( multiple drains?) with this? Seems like a simple fix for the same issue......rinsing a holding tank. IMHO

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No design issue that I can see. It really is just cost related as most people would look to flush out a black tank but not a gray. We keep our gray tank closed all the time and dump when it fills. We do this to help keep get the solid items out the best we can with the pull of the tank being emptied. Most people don't do they and leave the gray open which then makes it more prone to build up. This is one reason we put in the electric dump valves so we are not always needing to go outside to empty the gray but instead just push a button. :)

    RVs has been in the US for centuries and still they use hoses manually. With the technology today...come on...there has to be an alternative to this. Why not have the rv campground septictank hole placed under where the RV parks. RVs then should have guiding pipe systems like jet fighters getting fuel and locate the hole. Then dump everything. Instead of buying a hose guard to align the hoses straight, the clear tank indicator. This way gravity drops the feces and urine directly vertically without any waste. Directly from the RV and no need for hose.

    It's not a question of "if you gotta ask you can't afford it," everyone has there own reasons for living in a MoHo, Mine is: I rather live in my Newmar London Aire than pay 16K in property taxes every yr, especially after I've paid for my house 3 times over. I find it's still cheaper for me to full time it (again) than spend 16K a yr, for something that affords me no amusement or benefits or happiness/satisfaction. So pls, post some prices.

      The jetter nozzle that is used is not a cutting nozzle. So you're not getting that full force of 4000 PSI. It's a spread out stream that is meant to knock things off the plastic walls and clean out the bottom of the tank. Should not be an issue at all. At least I would not think so. But don't put a cutting nozzle on there. Lol
