    My name is Bill Miller , I actually worked on that school in 1973 and 1974 for a small heating and cooling company out of Greenwood. Solder lady and her daughter were going to move in there.We were putting the furnaces in at that time. I’ve passed that place a million times over the years and wondered what they did to the inside. Glad to see your fixing it up.

    I have lived in Mooresville,Indiana all my life and have noticed that there are alot of abandoned structures like this. They usually get demolished for new construction because people do not want to take the extra time to rebuild these precious time pieces of history. Kudos to your family for taking the time and spending the money to save this school for the landfill.

    The old brick, combined with painted walls will be absolutely beautiful! I'm so happy for you, that you were able to save so much brick and hardwood flooring. I know it's five times harder to "remodel" old spaces, than to just build from scratch. The fact that you are able to save the school, will make all those who attended in the past, very happy!

The fact you are taking the time to not only do this enormous project, but record and post it, more then doubles your efforts. The amazing part about that is you will have all this footage of where you started to where you end. That will be worth everything!! This is going to be the coolest house ever to live in. Plus you are saving a part of IN history that, most likely, would have otherwise been lost.

    Beautiful renovations. I just don't understand, with over 4,000 square feet, the kids bedrooms are so small...why?

    • @FearsomeWarrior
      @FearsomeWarrior 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I believe it is because bedrooms are for sleeping and do not need to be big. Likely utility related choice because controlling temperature there is more important for comfortable sleepy time. Just a guess. Also kind of a struggle once you start expanding the rooms because the four large rooms in the corners. They are divided to make the bedrooms and you’d end up having one bedroom somewhere else or smaller.

    • @FearsomeWarrior
      @FearsomeWarrior 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I found a bedroom shot in a more recent video. There was a DeWalt hole auger case that I also own. It is 26 inches wide. I used a dimension finding website and laid in the known length of the case. The bedrooms looked small but they’re larger than they looked on the floor plans. When a man was standing in there you could see the scale of the space. If the bedroom had a large bed on it we’d see how big they really are in reality. Online image dimension thing gave me rough dimensions that were really big in the width at 15 feet and that was the short distance. The long dimension is low 20 or even 39 feet but with a chunk taken by the walk-in closet. The camera angle and room had hidden area. Making estimating futile or speculative at best.

Doesn’t really matter I’m liking your idea of the design.

    I had a friend who lived in a similar sized and age school house i loved staying there overnight ! To say it was haunted is an understatement, but a happy haunting, the sprits seemed to romp thru out the school house, crazy sounds of footfalls as if children were playing especially at night but sometimes even during the day...always had a warm happy feeling when i experienced the phenominon. I think Kurt Vonnegot wrote somewhere that his idea of heaven was that you got to choose a certain time and age of your life as your heaven, and that always came to mind...

    I went to a high school in rural Illinois in the early 70's that was a tad bigger than this with 2 floors above a basement. I think it was built in the late 1800s', so about the same generation of builders, I suppose. I always thought it was really cool and it looked a lot like your new home with those TALL ceilings and windows. It was destroyed by a tornado some years after I graduated, and I wish now I'd gone back to see it before that happened. I drove by it several times when visiting my folks who lived there till the 90's, but I wish I'd gone back inside for a quick walk-thru. I found myself smiling at the drone video of the outside and then many of the inside shots as well. I know your new home will serve you well, and it will be a great place to raise your kids, too. Congratulations and thanks for the video!

I was thinking... seeing that your bedroom closet is so tall, it would be very cool to incorporate a chain and pulley arrangement to raise and lower a shirt rack/bar or shoe rack to add functionality and character to the space? There might be other areas in the house where something like this could add the cool factor too?

    It is so nice to see a young Dr and his family doing something ambitious like this! My husband has been gone for 11 years, but he was an oncologist from the university of Florida. We were in practice in Maine and never had a chance to do anything like you're doing But I do admire your ambition. How fortunate to be in your hometown and have parents nearby. I'm sure they have been a big help as sounding boards and stepping in with help with the children when necessary. Keep us posted as I'd love to see what it looks like as you get it finished would like to suggest muted quiet, neutral colors in your rooms, two brighter color, the tracks from the antique architecture of the school building. This puts the emphasis on the walls in the windows and the flooring, which I would assume is what you would like to emphasize. bright cheerful colors help raise the mood of the family particularly in the winter. I know the temperatures can be everything from awful to wonderful. I went to school in Terre Haute for both junior high and later to the HOSPITAL school of nursing. I have a great grandchildren now, but none are ambitious enough to even look at doing what you are doing. I wish you lots of success with your venture. I'm sure someday it gets you down, but it will soon be over and you will always have the memories in your children in the middle of this crazy world of your school house home! love to you all Betty in Southern Ohio now! ❤ 😂 👋🏼

    *Wow!* It's come such a long way. When the drywall goes up, it's always a milestone!
    About the paint on the ceiling: your drywaller is correct, but there is one thing that can mitigate the appearance of ripples on the ceiling. Be sure to choose an *absolute flat* finish instead of eggshell, matte or semi-gloss. A dark, flat paint will absorb light, so it's always the finish of choice if there are imperfections in the ceiling. You could always try to paint a small part of the ceiling in a flat paint and live with it for a few weeks, observing how it looks at different times of the day.

    I used to live in Indiana I used to live in Warsaw Indiana I’ve also lived in Indianapolis as well as Bloomington Indiana but anyway that’s neither here or there 12:10 I’m glad it wasn’t painted grain it kind of worked out because even though in a previous video you show us a picture of your inspiration on why you wanted it to be half green I thought that was a horrid ideal and that it would look tatty… so the fact that the ceilings had all of these waves and unnatural curves and dips it’s kind of a blessing because to me personally it wouldn’t look good now I know this is your home and renovation and probably your forever home and you’re doing what looks best for you but that would’ve made it look I don’t know it just doesn’t the vision wasn’t giving what you thought it was going to give it wasn’t giving to me at all what it needed to give for that ideal to come together the exposed brick is beautiful even the drywall the exposed brings it together in a more elegant more natural and beautiful way that’s just my opinions perfectly but I am enjoying your renovation and seeing the ideals and nuances that you guys play with to create this finish product I’m not gonna lie your channel and the most recent video popped up in my recommended and after a couple of seconds I decided to go back and watch your older videos and make my way up to your current videos so I don’t miss anything with that being said it is interesting I wish it would have been more renovating that we would’ve seen instead of you coming back here and there in certain videos where things are already completed but I am still very much intrigued and enjoying the process of observing I think so far you’re doing a great job even though you rambled on a lot and reiterate things over and over instead of just displaying updated projects it’s still very entertaining and intriguing and speaking of Indiana I lived in Indiana for about seven years before I just recently moved out to Virginia I hate it out here in Virginia Beach lol I didn’t care for Indiana but I liked it a hell of a lot better than what I do now I am people take the chance to do what they want to do I’ve always dreamed of having my own little Homestead where I have chickens and goats and sheep and my own fresh fruits and vegetables and live off of the land I love projects like when people built their own RV #VanLife or #BusConversion even tiny homes when people just take unique things and create a whole Nother purpose out of it it’s great

It’s just too far gone unfortunately it was really cheap when we looked at it. Six months ago idea for your slightly wavy ceilings stilluse something like one by threes or fours on the ceiling purposely cut so that they make a rolling effect on the ceiling kind of like thin on one of the board and wider at the other and have them change directions every so often

    I’m so excited for you I can only imagine your own excitement. It is looking amazing. I too have exposed brick in my home and love it especially in my kitchen. I love the way it invites warmth and character.

    Awesome, so glad you’re repurposing this nice old building. I’m sure there are a few folks still left in the area who attended it. They’d love to see the inside when finished.

    I hope you keep the wall and ceiling colors more neutral to keep it light and airy. It's such a beautiful space, would hate to see it over powered by oversaturated colors. Leave that for the decor and furnishings. Love these videos!

    Hello, Love following your journey. Just a tip I thought I'd pass along take off the stickers on you new windows, because if they get cooked on by the sun they will be so very hard to get off, trust me I know. It seems like a small thing but it will make your life so much easier if you do it now. Take Care

    This is amazing. I 💕 love your vision. I can't imagine how labor intensive it is to do that much drywall. It is looking so nice and yes like a home.

    I went to school in a building like this. I would love to have one of those old coat racks where we put our books and coats with the cubby holes. reminiscent of my elementary days

    Keep your eye out for a duster on an extra-long pole to get spider webs off the corners of those high ceilings. It's gonna look great!

    Wow this is so exciting to see. Come together. The room height is soooo lush. Wow those kids are going to have soooo much fun! So glad you are working with the old colours. I love the white really as it's so bright but bits of coloured walls with original colour, green with pink stripe at the top would be sooo lush. And the blue in the kids area on that one wall would be so nice ❤
