I love German Shepherds. They are so chill yet very protective. Their intelligence is off the charts. I’d like to get a Dutch Shepherd, but from what I’ve read they need a lot of activity to keep them out of trouble.
I'm a big fan of the Dutch Shepherd. They're super trainable and loyal as long as adequate exercise is provided. German Shepherds are also amazing dogs, I just have that special place in my heart for the Dutch.
A Dutch is my next dog because they are savage when it comes to bite work. And Athletics..even though I feel this GSD I have nothing can compare to his protection instincts. No breed bottom line..
I found my girl in our local humane society. She came from a hoarder/bavkyard breeder situation. They got one litter of puppies from her before their entire operation was found. She's 1.4 yrs. Before her I'd never even heard of dutch Shepherd. I love her and she's such a goofy, smart dog.
When my wife and I adopted our Shepherd. We were told it was a German Shepherd but upon getting the DNA test we found out it's actually a Dutch. She's an amazing dog though!
Seems like the creator liked the German Shepherd better and weighted towards that. From experience the Dutchies not only live longer and are healthier they are much much faster on the ground. They bite harder and have a better work ethic.
I have had German Shepherds my whole life and I can’t imagine not having at least one shepherd at any time. Currently I have two German Shepherds and a Newfie😛
The German is by far the most intelligent and naturally protective bread I've ever owned. They also become your best friend, I couldn't imagine not having my boy.

@@jayclutch6533 I'm no expert, but probably the German Shepherd if given the right training consistently from early age, but I doubt the Dutch is actually any more aggressive, just more energetic. Of course this can differ from individual to individual.
Found a dutch shepherd pup on the streets and took her in. She's the best dog ever and so easy to train. The key is to play with her till she gets tired and takes a nap. All she wants is to play and be trained. She is a very great dog.
I have a beautiful dutch shepard who I rescued from the pound. She is only 2 and so incredibly playful and absolutely loves her toys and lots of cuddles. When I come home from shopping she is like a child looking in my bags to see if there is anything for her. I take her for her walks or should I say run 😁 3 times a day. She lives inside, but can go outside whenever she likes. She's my girl and I wouldn't have it any other way. Such a beautiful blessing in my life 😊😊😊
My husband and I started out with a German Shepherd 15yrs ago, and we still have one she's going to be 10 years old in a couple of weeks. We had to put our first shepherd down 3yrs ago and our 2nd GSD was depressed because she looked upto our first GSD as her mother so we got what we thought was a black GSD but on her 1st Vermont visit our vet walked in to the room with a huge smile on his face and said you have a Dutch Shepherd we never heard of a Dutchie. Well let me tell you after having a Dutchie for 3yrs now and having a GSD's for one thing both breeds are extremely comical 😂😂. Both of the breeds test your knowledge 😊 I Love both breeds but if I had to choose 1 breed it would be the Dutchie a black one like our MidNight Star don't get me wrong I absolutely Love Love the German Shepher but there is something about the Dutch Shepherd 😊
I have owned both and i LOVE the GSD.. sadly their health is getting so bad i di dnot want to go trough loosig another dog at the age of 8 again... my oldest GSD was 11 and she was sick from the age of 9... So i can not have my heart broken again... i just got a Dutchie,,, she is lovely but i am still recovering from my loss - i had to put down BOTH my GSD this year. The last one only 12 weeks ago.. and the other 10 weeks before that.. Cancer and horrible back problems. . they were both 8,5 years old..RIP Levo and Inka. .Looking forward to have a healthy dog now ... Cherokee of Goldbite.
I love my Dutch Shepherd often people pull over to ask me what type of dog she is. Due to her colouring some even think she looks like a hyena. 😅 She has a beautiful soul but is not good with kids. She is overly protective of me and doesn’t want anyone coming to visit. Female Dutch Shepherds can take a long time to warm up to people. She can also be very stubborn. She gets walked 2 hours a day BUT even with that there has to be a time of hard play BUT even with that she still can give you the stink eye as she chomps on your favourite piece of furniture. I bought her because she was suppose to be a rare low energy Dutchie. My Vet said that was a huge lie.🙀 Still I love my bipolar and ADHD Dutch Shepherd.😊
There are three hair variations of Dutch Shepherd dog; short, long and rough. The rough one is most rare and the shorthair is most popular. This video talks only about shorthaireds and those absolutely do not need grooming weekly. None of the hair variations needs! I have owned longhaired Dutch Shepherd Dogs since 1992, bred ten litters and imported over 25 dogs (to Finland where I live) and this video is the first time I hear about any anesthetic problems. That must come of the fact that in USA most of the shorthaireds have a mixbreed pedigree and the problem comes from other breeds. Otherwise this video is quite nice, but I wanted to correct these facts.
Is it true the short hair Dutch shepherd sheds less then a German shepherd? I read that online. And no I’m not lazy about shedding I have a dyson vacuum a shark vacuum and brushes all kinds of tools. My grandma seems to have had mild allergies with certain dogs this is why I ask about it. Also I live in a hot climate and it makes me upset seeing my neighbors husky who he doesn’t even groom. Poor thing looks so hot 😢. I don’t want any dog of mine to be uncomfortable. I had a shorthair blue heeler in the past and she seem fine when the weather was hot but she was always with me 24 7 and I made sure she drank plenty of water
German Shepards comes in two completely different types Working line and a showline It's the showline that has been inbred with a lower back, hence the hip issues Also consider the climate you live in The longer fur will be better in cold temperatures vs the shorter coat
In the world championships in Germany every year the top dogs are Malinowski followed by GSD. The police and military use GSD and Malinois. Maybe you know more and can help them out.
Dutchies are more used in all the other country's But germans dont like to use dutchies because they need more atention and can be playful a dutchie is more of a alround dog and a german is good at one task i have both and both great dogs
Maybe he does know more and maybe he will help them out. Gsds suffering from bad breeding practices, Malinois can be overly hyper and the Dutchie are just ✅.
