William the Conqueror's Early Battles

Though best known to history for his decisive victory at the Battle of Hastings, William, Duke of Normandy, was already a seasoned military commander long before this.
His early rule as Duke of Normandy had been contested violently from within and without his own domain and it is this turbulent period that is the focus of this video.
Here we chart the rise of the iron-willed young man who would become King William the Conqueror, specifically the Battles of Val-ès-Dunes (1047 AD), Mortemer (1054 AD) and Varaville (1057 AD).
