The only thing he wouldn't share is what talks he and Pat Riley have had on where things stand.

The path is clear after this year:
- Jimmy turns down his player option
- Duncan either turns down his player option or is traded
- Terry's team option is declined
That gives us $50 mil under that cap to splash on a big star (Brandon Ingram). We then use the rest to re-sign Jimmy and Terry and have a starting 5 of Herro/Ingram/Jimmy/Niko/Bam and keep ALL of our assets and young players.

@Noah-tu2nw Terry has a team option for $26mil. Duncan has a player option for $20mil next year. If he picks it up, that's his choice, but we should trade him if he does.
Pat Riley coached and or GM'd the Heat to 3 rings and the best record in the East in the last 28 years (1270+ wins). Jimmy has been here 6 successful years including the only times he's ever been to the finals. People keep bringing up what Jimmy has done the last 6 years while talking greezy about Pat like he hasn't held it down for the Heat for almost 3 decades. I'd prefer not to choose sides in this one, but I watched the Heat win 17 games back in 88' so if Jimmy has to walk or be traded to get his money and the team has to rebuild then so be it. With that being said, Pat, it's probably time to hang it up because these players are super emo and clearly dealing with that isn't in your wheelhouse, especially if it involves extensions for aging stars.

Yup totally agree. The front office playing hardball with Jimmy is wrong after what he’s shown these past 5 years. For as much as they preach culture and winning it seems to be more about saving money. At that point get out of sports and run a different business. Cheap ass crybaby owners continue to ruin sports when they put nothing into it but usually undeserved/stolen money. Give him a fair payday and try to spend a lil more to get someone in.

Jimmy & Bernie are playing checkers & Pat is playing Chess. Jimmy & his camp tried to force a trade in the "nicest" / "sneakiest" way possible & Pat came out & hit the checkmate on those clowns by publically stating that the Heat are NOT trading Jimmy. Poor little Jimmy now has to play up to his contract this year or come out, make a stink & simply demand a trade. Wich is not a good look at this point. The Heat will only trade him to the team that offers the best package & dont have to listen to Jimmys "preferred" destination. The Heat is also very aware that Jimmy could opt out of his extension for next year & lose him for "nothing"....except nobody in the league has the cap space to sign Jimmy. So if Jimmy doesn't get traded before the deadline, it's either sign for max money in Brooklyn (if they even want to offer him that) or pick up his player option in Miami for next year for what Miami & Pat think is his worth. Theres levels to this ladies & gentlemen & Pat is not to be played with. I've been saying to get Jimmy out & let the young kids run up & down the court. Everyone hates a "rebuild," but I believe thats whats best for the franchise at this moment.

I hate the fake Miami Heat fans. Jimmy Butler has worn a heroes cape for this team and has literally put the team on his back so many years and you all want him traded. He gets the NBA finals and has some of the greatest triple double performances in history while his two best players are injured and it’s against LeBron James and the superstar stud Lakers. He wins two games there by himself and I literally mean by himself.
The entire world was shocked when he took an 8th seed team full of undrafted rookies to the NBA finals with a hurt Herro and once again, a very underperforming Bam. Jimmy Butler solo’d Milwaukee, and New York. You have to call it solo because no one else was averaging 20 points a game and he was hurt twice and both of those series.
The whole world thought he was the best player on the planet because no one else could willfully will a team with undrafted rookies and hurt players to the finals like that.
They only lose to the Nuggets because he is mad injured from carrying the team on his back that far and having absolutely no one who can help.

I agree with you Tobin. I do not believe there is a deal out there that the Heat would accept to trade Jimmy Butler away right now. If they cannot find a good deal by the trade deadline, then they will probably either just let him walk in the offseason or find a common ground with him on a reasonable deal once the season is over. I am more prone to believe they will simply let him walk, which would give him the freedom as a free agent to sign with whomever he feels will give him the best chance to win a NBA Title. I know it came out that he said he would prefer a trade to either the Suns, Warriors or Mavericks. However, I believe he will add more teams to his list during the offseason. I tell you this, I could see Milwaukee either moving on from Kris Middleton or restructuring his contract in order to sign Jimmy Butler there because they still remember how Jimmy used to cook them in the playoffs. Now on a more serious note, based on Jimmy's comments, I do get the impression Miami is ready to move on from him by getting younger with Tyler and Bam as the faces of the franchise and building around them. This explains why Jimmy made the comment of the NBA being a business and the Heat doing what they feel is best for them. This is perhaps the reason why he said it does feels good to be wanted because he knows the Heat is looking at moving on from him.

Let me get this straight, Bulls, Wolves and 76ers didn't want to give him the max, but the Miami Heat gave him the max twice already. Pat said show up to work if you want another extension.
