    I just wish you would have played the same part of the song, maybe for a little bit longer. Of time as well so the sound quality difference would be more distinct

    Spend a little more for the Pioneer vsxlx505 or the Onkyo RZ50. They held their own against my Arcam AVR5 at $2000

    i find it interesting to hear the difference in sound. but it clearly was way too short, not the same parts of the song on all receivers etc. but i can agree on denon. i went from onkyo to denon and i instantly noticed how much treble it has, its not plesent. i personally love pioneer, but cant make a decision since its such a big investment. might become an option soon once we completely solved all hdmi 2.1 and earc issues coming with the products.

      Glad you find this useful. Based on your location plenty of sales on Onkyo/pioneer 305/7100 for around $550. At that price with Dirac you can’t go wrong with them. Also the dialog enhancement on Onkyo/pioneer is also pretty solid.

      Pioneer is too muffled in sound

    • @SimplyTechReviews

      Not muffled but warm with not a lot of separation at higher frequencies. So pleasant, clear and warm is how I will describe it. But yeah compared to Denon you hear less instruments.

    Nice review. I have a Denon X1500h, and sound signature fits your description. I hear more instruments but overall I find the sound boring. I actually prefer the pioneer sound in your review. I hope u can do a review on Onkyo TX NR 7100 and Onkyo TX RZ 50.

      Thanks for the feedback. I have recently got my hands on Sony AN1000 and this small little amp is better sounding then all receivers tested here. Will put up a review next week.

      Also Onkyo 7100 will be almost identical to the Pioneer Lx305 reviewed here apart from the fact that pioneer doesn’t allow individual crossovers for speakers.

  • @jordansjournal3077

    Didn’t hear anyone mention the Onkyo having the best sound. Actually the Pioneer and Onkyo are now the same parent company and virtually identical sound signature.
    The Onkyo 6050, as mentioned, is way less money. Nice warm mids compared to the Denon, which is sterile. Instrument separation is good on the Denon, but pretty sterile sound with no warmth in the midrange. The Marantz is way more money and, to me, does not sound better

    • @SimplyTechReviews

      Try Sony as well it will surprise you with the sound.

    • @jordansjournal3077

      Yeah, I hear Sony is amazing with an even larger soundstage, in particular. I am used to Onkyo now, though. And because I have Klipsch speakers I would not go back to Denon due to lack of mid bass warmth. Klipsch are already treble and upper mid forward and Onkyo tones them down nicely.
      Great analysis btw. Thanks for posting. I agree with you.

    • @SimplyTechReviews

      @jordansjournal3077 I totally agree with Klipsch and Denon both being a bit forward. I returned my Klipsch as I found them too bright for my Sonic preferences.

    Will it be a good upgrade if i buy pioneer lx-305? currently using marantz sr5011

    • @SimplyTechReviews

      Depends on what you are planning to do, are you planning to upgrade for 4K/120 or adding more speakers? If not, you wont see much different although I haven't tested the SR5011

    • @ajmalalipa

      @SimplyTechReviews I have no plan to go for 4K 120HZ at the moment as I have a high end PC and monitor; so not looking to buy a PS5. Instead I would like to have Imax enhanced and HDR10+ passthrough. Currently I set up speakers in 5.1.2 configuration. I also read lx-305 doesn't have individual cross overs for individual speakers instead Universal crossover for all the speakers. I guess it will be problematic

    • @SimplyTechReviews

      The crossover for pioneer are indeed not very tunable but most speakers have a passive crossover. If you set Pioneer at 80hz you should be good, but Onkyo 7100 with same hardware has more tunable crossovers.

    Why using the ls50 with poor bass? why not e.g. R3 or Elac ubr62?

    • @MiccaPhone

      Also the placing of the ls50 so near back and side walls is inadequate. Use the ubr62 if you are restricted in your speaker placements.
      (But I suppose product placement trumps speaker placement in this video ;-) )

    Helping my buddy out here. Searching youtube.
    Got a lg c1.
    These where the one's with all hdmi 2.1 connections. . We only guess 8k means hdmi 2.1 right? future proof
    The others i saw have half hdmi 2.0 4k and other half hdmi 2.1. what gives.

    • @SimplyTechReviews

      None of these are future proof as the new TVs can support 4K 144hz but receivers here max out at 4K 120hz. Good enough for console gaming for current gen, but eventually all of these would need to be replaced in 3-4 years.

    • @Deltax5

      @@SimplyTechReviews he ended up getting the lg c1. that has all the hdmi 2.1 connections.
      The receivers are getting a headach to find.
      c1 is 2 years old now.

      the more expensive models now are getting all hdmi 2.1 8k connection.

    I just picked up the 305 for $500 new open box from ebay. Personally I am kind of a Pioneer head. Pioneer was just the go to system for cars when I was growing up and they have always made decent products. I still have my pioneer elite vsx-56txi. That is a very old receiver but it still sounds incredible. Will hate to let it go with it's 110W per channel it just shines when it comes to sound but it's time to upgrade because it's missing a lot of modern features and doen't even have an HDMI lol. I have it connected to my TV via optical cable. Yeah the thing's just ancient but in all honesty it sounds incredible even today. Owell it's time to move on hope the 305 won't disappoint.

    Its weird , I have a Onkyo TX-DS898 and he have better specs thann them all. 125 watt for 8 ohms and 150 w for 6ohms , 7.1 channel. Frequency response of 10 hz to 100Khz , total harmonic distortion of 0.08% etc... the receivers over the years are less good than in the start of the 2000 . really weird

    What are your thoughts on the AVR's reliability and availability of spare parts?

    • @SimplyTechReviews

      It varies market to market. Yamaha has the best reliability on some models that are made in Japan. I would go with one with best warranty.

    As your review Pioneer has the best sound, Marantz is good also and unfortunately worst is Denon.

    • @SimplyTechReviews

      Adding to this Sony has the best sound but many quirks, Pioneer/Onkyo are good but a bit warm sounding… Marantz is more neutral and depending on your taste better or equal to Pioneer/Onkyo and Denon is brighter but has most features for its price.
