I'm wondering why I need to use Win32 Disk Imager and zzBlank.img to format the MicroSD Card. Indeed, when I tried formatting it directly using Windows, it became unusable. However, I'm curious to know why this happens.
I perhaps know the cause. I use WinHex to open them and find that the correctly formatted one only has an exFAT filesystem, while the one formatted by Windows includes an MBR partition at position 0.
Ugh., I have the same issue right now you did, that once you put the new card in the Vita to format, all the home-brew apps and tools disappear, since they're on the OLD sd card. But I seem to be in the minority of people modding their Vita on a Mac, so I don't have these Windows tools lol... How can I format this new card on my Mac?
@@IDreamOfGaming So I ended up getting through it A-OK on my Mac though it was a little scary; I had to use the Terminal app (sorta like a windows DOS prompt) to format the card in a very specific way. Then I copied my files over and it worked like a champ!
Brilliant, i was dreading doing this, but your video got me thru it, its not actually that difficult, just needs doing correctly!
Yes it just needs doing a certain way

I use 010editor to examine exactly what zzBlank.img is, and I find that it consists entirely of hex 00 bytes.

How do I set clusters?
Shouldnt it be a 64k cluster when you format the card? (And yes, exFAT not FAT)
Depends on the size of the card
I will be upgrading myy card in a bit. I will be following your guide. Hope it works. Going from 128gb to 512gb.
Good luck!
@@IDreamOfGaming worked flawlessly. Took forever to copy 114gb. But it's done. Thanks!
@@Lillickypit glad it worked

It needs formatting and blanking correctly
