Great video and welcome to the neighborhood, I also live in Lake Denham and have been here a little over a year. But I recently retired and single so now I am starting to get out and trying to figure out what I want to do. I love living here because it's so beautiful and there are a lot of places to walk around and explore with nature.
Thanks so much for your encouraging comment and we appreciate your warm welcome. Congrats on your retirement and it sounds like you are in that transition phase of getting use to what life is like being retired. We know that well and we can truly relate and it sounds like you are well on your way to finding your new path. We totally agree about our area being beautiful; we really like our network of walking trails. Hope to see you soon and thanks again.
Hi guys, we watch you from Germany . We are planning a lifestyle visit next year. We really enjoy watching your informative videos. We are looking forward to experiencing the village lifestyle as well as the other activities. We agree it is important to keep all options open regarding other 55+ communities. . Especially since this move is our final move. Hopefully! Nevertheless our hearts are set on the villages it seems they have the most to offer. So thanks for your valuable information. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Germany Thomas and Jutta
Thanks so much for watching as well as your encouraging comments. We are so glad that our videos are helpful; part of our mission is to help dispel the mystery of what the experience of moving here is all about. So excited that you will be visiting next year and moving here will definitely be a more significant move than for most. Part of moving here is definitely managing the expectations and the opportunities, but it sounds like you all are doing your research and what we have found is that time and many sources help you get clarity. Keep us updated on when you come, we would love to meet you guys. Have a great week.
Great video. I'm 99.9% sure this is where we want to be. Having 6 children and grandchildren, I'm ready to do some life things for me. Love the active lifestyle and friendly people.
Thanks so much and we fully understand the feeling being ready to do some life things for ourselves. And I can imagine your family will love visiting you and joining the fun. We see so many extended families here having a great time. Our daughter and her boyfriend visited recently and had a wonderful visit. I recognize your name but was wondering if you have visited yet. If not we highly recommend you do so. Thanks again for your encouraging comment and see you soon!
There are 1 bedroom and 1 bath Patio Villas as well. There are townhomes is Spanish Springs that have HOA cuz The Villages takes care of 100% of the outside of the townhomes- the roof, the painting, the landscaping. The manufactured homes in the historic area can cost $175K and up and can be torn down and people can build their own home. Some of those are on the golf course or the water and much bigger lots.
Great intro and shout out, it was great talking with you at Brownwood. We Hope to run into you guys again before we leave, Thanks for all the great villages info.
Thanks so much and it was so great to meet you all in person. April is out of town until next Monday so maybe next week, if you are still here, we might meet for ice cream or coffee. Hope you guys are having a great visit!
We currently belong to both Costco and Sam's. In Virginia, we're about 10 minutes from the Costco and it'll be about the same when the one in Buffalo Ridge Plaza opens. I heard fall of 2025. We do go over to the Sam's on 27/441. That's not that far either.
Thanks for your comment and I was surprised that they chose to put the Costco so far up North, but we still go up that way often. We let our Sam's Club membership expire, and we find most all that we need at BJ's, plus it is much less crowded. I am sure that we will get a Costco membership once they arrive because we are more use to them. When we lived in Hawaii Costco was great and we came to really depend on it. Again, we wish it were going to be further South but we understand and we only visit those type stores a few times a month. It sounds like you will be positioned very well and that is awesome. Thanks again for your great comment.
So......is the villages like college; you gain the freshman 15? (aka:"Newcomer 15"😅). Whaaat activites?????....nope Chaplain get your butt out of bed meet at the park for pushs-ups, sit-ups, and a 2 mile run. If you still draw breath, there is still some 18 year old you have to show who is in charge😅😅😅😅😅!!! After retirement, my dad maintained the PT program for himself and added swim and golf. He is pretty fast for an 89 yr old wounded combat Vietnam vet! Thanks for sharing!
Ok…well, I’m tired just ready your message! No Newcomer 15 yet, thank God! I was out this morning doing my power walk for 3 miles so not sure if that counts. You do raise a significant issue and it is transitioning to retirement and what does an active lifestyle look like. Kudos to your Dad for his discipline, but I haven’t seen too many gatherings of people hitting like that here but it would be interesting. I do see a lot of folks walking, running and biking, and we have contemplated joining the Fit Club. Maybe when you get here you can start that Army PT Club!? Thanks for your…motivating comment! See you soon?
Best you tube channel for the villages ❤

Excellent observations and thanks so much for pointing those out. The variety of homes and home situations here are very diverse as you describe.
