And both are the newest Jasper models, so they are the least to red ring Edit: The normal white Jasper 360 has a eject disc issue, which is super common with these original models; it was also opened due to the warranty sticker being sliced in half. The black one works fine, but it's very noisy and was never opened, which is why I am watching this video.

Got the Ring of Death in the first year I had my 360 and sent it in on warranty. that was 14 years ago. it's lasted until today. Got the RRoD again while playing Fable 2 (Game I bought the 360 for). It was the dreaded 3 rings... I was desperately hoping it was just an overheat and not a motherboard warp. Followed you video and it was WAY WAY easier than when I tore apart my PS3 (pos...). Cleaned it up inside and out. Crossed fingers and... Revived and working great! Thanks for the video!
JerryRigEverything I get to the point where you have to push in the back clips and they don't click and open. I lift up the front ones perfectly fine but it's just the back ones that give me a hard time
Ive watched your videos for a while, so imagine my surprise when i look up a video for xbox 360 disassembly (needed to clean it), click the first one, hear the voice, and check the creator name.
@@jinxxedbyu that and it wouldn’t read discs anymore kept saying open tray. Wouldn’t even try to read a disc. As soon as it closed it would say open disc tray. So I used this video to open my 360 and replace the disc drive with a new one I had gotten from another 360 console.
@@XENON2028 it worked yes. It has nothing to do with dvd keys. It’s about power. All 3 versions of the Xbox 360 all have different power units and therefore all output power throughout the system differently. More power in some models less power in others. Curiously, my swap was successful. I tried to put the faulty disc drive in the old 360 shell I swapped from and it plugged in but is giving an error for low power output.
First I couldn't get the pins to press down (1:29) So I preyed it open front the front. Then I didn't have the screwdriver (2:00). I I preyed it open again. Snapping the screws off . Then 90% of my motherboard was rusted/brown because 10+ years ago I poured water down it. Sad days we live in.
Thanks for this! My xbox wasn't reading my favorite game for a few years then the other day it wouldn't read ANY discs. I took it apart, blew all the dust out, and now it's like new!
N0skillx 0verkill ik but there’s no way 14 pounds of dust can be in there when I cleaned mine after about 7 years it had about 5-14 oz of dust so when I read his comment about it being 14 pounds of dust I didn’t believe it
Glad I finally got round to cleaning out my RGH 360 with the help of this video as there were thick clumps of dust around the top vents and dust around the fan housing and blades
So i learned today crackdown 1 & 2 is retroplayable, and after bying crackdown 3 and being so disappointed. I figured I'd play the old ones on the xbox one. But the 360 ate my crackdown 1, and your video helped me get the very first game id ever bought and played. Thank you, now i just need to wait for the games to get installed.

I found an old Xbox 360 in the back of a barn during a garage sale and it seems to be working fine but the disc tray doesn't want to come out all the time and I don't particularly want to buy a new one so I'm going to try to fix that and pray it works
Push in and down a bit with something in the shape like a ID card. Just NEVER hit it to open the tray or that scanner thing will move and no more reading your discs unless open to fix it.
The little clip thing for the fans is a pain in the arse. I snapped mine but hay ho...now I can fit a 3 pin fan splitter. Thanks for the fan link. I'm in the middle of restoring one and I'm looking to mod it as well. So thank you for your help.

A Torx Miniature Screwdriver will come and handy for the “Pushing the Backside Pins inward” when before pulling the Outer Plastic Shells apart from each other.
The back clips I couldn’t get apart so not caring for the present case I’m pulling until I have the covers apart…….it worked great plastic went flying everywhere and I had a empty case with gears of war 2 theme on the console case It’s all snapped back together ❤now I haven’t Xbox with gears painted on it.
Got one in pieces and this has helped me put it back together...I understand everything except where the 3 tiny black hex screws go...I'm sure I'll figure it out but it's a little odd and irritating since it means whoever's had mine here was diving deeper than you did SOMEWHERE and I shudder to think of what they were up too.
@@timoarrg totally forgot about this...I believe you are correct...I got everything back together and it turns out it had a different hardware issue than I thought so apart from the practical knowledge and teardown familiarity I otherwise kinda wasted my time. When changing out the DVD drive you can't just swap it out for the same model, the motherboard has a set key, and if the DVD drive key doesn't match then it will not read disks, you use a computer and a program to obtain your DVD key from your old DVD drive then use any Xbox 360 DVD drive and load that key with the firmware and it will play on that Xbox, as long as the key matches the motherboard any 360 drive will work, as for lite-on 360 drives, another tool is needed to obtain the DVD key. You don't need it, but it is extremely hard to obtain the key without it.

btw 2 red rings is overheat, 3 red rings is dead gpu (probably, press the sync and eject buttons four times and tell me what it says)
