Not often do I watch Salmon Fishing. But sort of glad I did. I did a lot of Salmon a good while back. Same sort of river. Have the same rod. When ever I used the spinners, I always fished up stream. But I would choose the spinner depending on the amount of water. Flying c was a favourite. But used mepps silver and blue most. Heavy water bigger. I hardly ever spun. Instead it would be rod tip high and keep the tension on the line. The spinner would flutter down deep and come down with the flow. The amount of Salmon doing this was unreal. Ok your going to loose the odd spinner. But the rewards were so great. Oh hook ups was far greater. Great to watch, brings back great memories. Take care. Shaun.
Glad you enjoyed it, maybe it’s just a local thing to me but never been that productive for me spinning up stream I do far better casting across and slowing it down with my rod it. Plenty of people do spin upstream round me and they do get them as well.
@@Onlyanangler Only difference is I was trotting the spinner not spinning. Can I ask one thing. Did you find 2024 a much better run of Salmon. The boys here in west wales had an exceptional year in comparison.
Salmon fishing is easy when you know what you're doing. I live in the Highlands and have caught more salmon in 50 years of fishing than I care to mention. I actually prefer sea trout to eat and have caught goodness knows how many of those in fresh and salt water. It's like everything else when you know how to do it it's easy.👍🏴
Cracking fish on that wee river has similar features to my local river a few miles up from you great to see you getting good numbers of fish this season. Some rivers on west have had more fish in them this year than for a while let’s hope they are coming back a bit. 👌
Good fishing my mate, I use a Diawa whisker 8ft, cant get on with braid though, and I use brass Devon minnows, find they scrape the bottom were the fishing are lying, same size rivers, little spate rivers, good videos, keep up the good work. Tight lines.
@@PhilipMullis great rods ain’t they I’ve had mine probably 10 years and still got many more years left in it I am sure. Never really gave the Devon’s ago locally one the flying c came out it killed all the other lures here.
