I knew they leaned on the authority of the Watchtower but it is eye opening when you know the Apostles said "We should obey God rather than man" and the JWs do the opposite. They have no solid final authority and that is where their doctrine falls apart. If one's final authority is not the Word of God, one hasn't a leg to stand on. I thank God for His Word and His gospel for it is the power of God unto salvation. 😊
You should include that there were 30 different Bible student groups in Russels time there were no Jehovahs Witnesses until 1930 when all the groups split from one another. This is VERY IMPORTANT to tell JWs because they believe Jesus picked them in 1919 after reviewing all religions from 1914 to 1919 but How could Jesus pick them if they didn't even exist yet. What there was were 30 different study groups or ecclesias that governed themselves it wasn't until way after 1919 when Joseph Rutherford started saying things that all the different Bible Student groups did not agree with that the larger of the 30 groups followed Rutherford and in 1931 he named them Jehovahs Witnesses. Not many JWs know about this because they are not allowed to research there religion (I know I was born and raised a JW but left when I was an adult and found out they had been lieing to us the whole time) this is a great way to disprove the Religion. Oh yeah and The Watchtower was just a Legal Corporation in 1919 that printed magazines and Books to help people with there Bible Studies it was not the head of a worldwide organization. The JWs have NO IDEA about this but they wont listen to us EX JWs. They will kind of listen to you if your just a "worldly person" so if you want to preach to a JW tell them about that and to research it if they actually do that just disproved there whole religion. Then, why there were no called Christians during the time of Jesus on earth? Do you know when the disciples of Jesus were called Christians? Can we say that the teachings of Jesus are not true because there was an apostasy and many religions exist apart from the true Christians? I was reading through the book of Matthews today... and I just realized I have a huge log in my eye. I was raised a JW, left JW's for the past 20 years, then recently I found the true God. But I have been criticizing Muslims for their beliefs and their fake prophet... and it just hit me that my JW parents are no different. Yes, the usual JW will look like a dear in headlight at the door if you question a specific topic that is outside of their usual trained responses. But I won't say that all of them will leave to research the answer and never return. There are those few who enjoys studying and will research a topic thoroughly to return for more discussion. And yes, they will be very disappointed if they don't find you home after doing all of that work. But the problem is that their research is only Watchtower's publication and they return only to manipulate the scriptures better and they will tell you that all will be revealed later if they don't find the exact answers. Shortly after that interrogation and research, they will stop coming. And yet after all that frustration and embarrassment, a fully indoctrinated JW still won't dare to research outside the WT publications out of fear, guilt and command as was well reference in this video. I am glad I stopped attending to the Kingdom Hall because so many rules which some of them don't make any sense, like stop talking to former members... that is because some friends I made were disfellowshipped and one of them was still living with her JW family, and I couldn't talk to her nor even saying hello... it was quite difficult. Now I am free and luckily I didn't get baptised. Thanks to internet and the scandal of sexual abuse, false prophecies....

I was taught certain scriptures as a JW, using a book produced by them " Reasoning from the Scriptures ". I suggest finding a copy to look through, it seems that when they stopped using it they were lost. Many don't know how to refute the publics questions, hence their response to the questions or statments. I don’t understand how John would say that YHWH should not be translated as Jehovah. That was how it was believed to be pronounced then. Nowadays people are on the Yahweh bandwagon. Translating as most English Bibles have to LORD was partly because we originally had no idea on how this is to be translated, and the Jewish speakers would have, “the Name”, “Lord”, out of respect and fear of blasphemy.

At the time of Jesus he had many followers and there he chose 12 and he called them apostles (Luke 6: 12-16) . There was even a time when he sent 70 publishers in pairs (Luke 10: 1-24). But why aren't all his disciples with him at last supper? Why only 11 apostles participated in eating and drinking in the emblems? Jehovah's Witnesses claim their false dates came from God, nothing happened (Deut 18:20-22) In the 1930's they used this excuse that God changed his mind in 1914, 1915, 1918, 1920, 1925. They also said these were "slip-ups". Which excuse is it? God changed his mind or slip-ups? They made more claims, 1940's, 1950's, 1960's, 1975, 2000. At some point these excuses for false teachings, false dates might just prove God had/has nothing to do with the JW Organization. That's the evidence we have.

You aren't "In the truth" just because you say you're "in the truth". Mormons think they have the truth, Muslims, Catholics, Christian Science, all think they're living in the truth. The only way to see if you're living what is truth, is using scripture alone. If the Bible disagrees with your doctrine, the Bible isn't wrong, your "truth" is wrong. John what makes witness’s true, not subjectively (based on your own opinion and how you feel) but objectively, ( based on scripture).

We do not need anything but the Holy Spirit, God himself to reveal his word to us. That's why we lean not on our own understanding but let Gods words speak. God does not need man's help. Well, you're not teaching your students right.I'm an Atheist living in California, and two weeks ago, the JW came knocking on my door, and when they started talking about the scriptures, I told them that I was an Atheist and they went off asking me questions about different natural events, and when I asked them about the origin of the JW they didn't have an answer, so sad that people believe everything they are told without even asking questions.
Love that you started with saying that JW's are one of the nicest, devoted most genuine people. They truly try to live up to Biblical standards, they keep their congregation clean and have very high moral standards. However as someone who was raised in the organization (and the majority of my family are still JW's) it is my opinion that it is a cult. And one that deeply harms those who were raised in due to all the limiting beliefs that are unwittingly implanted into our psyche. However it is very good for many people especially those who were raised with no or little moral foundation and who need an Authoritarian religion to help them straighten their life out.

Sorry to say you have the originator wrong. Not an uncommon error yet significant effort has been made to correct this publicly, yet still not universally common knowledge for whatever reason. Initiated and corrected by the Library of Congress many years ago. The man, Charles Russell, (responsible for speaking openly, initially as a resident of Pittsburgh, PA, of what he felt the Bible was about and as a steadfast mentor for the Bible Students religious group...which if looked into closely has NEVER qualified as a cult) was already dead years before the Jehovahs Witness religious group began...of which Judge J. Rutherford was the one who created his own off-shoot group of what the Bible Students had once meant for him, using only bits and pieces of his former beliefs when alongside Charles Russell. Mr. Rutherford is the one who shuffled and distorted whatever Charles Russell once stood for and his 'do not take my word for it, but prove it for yourselves' attitude. So it's easy to see that by having this one skewed 'fact' is enough for what has wrongly set the stage for error. How so much about the Bible Students and their biblically based thinking has been very, very, very misunderstood and misinterpreted. The two groups continue to be very separate faiths.

I knew they leaned on the authority of the Watchtower but it is eye opening when you know the Apostles said "We should obey God rather than man" and the JWs do the opposite. They have no solid final authority and that is where their doctrine falls apart. If one's final authority is not the Word of God, one hasn't a leg to stand on. You should include that there were 30 different Bible student groups in Russels time there were no Jehovahs Witnesses until 1930 when all the groups split from one another. This is VERY IMPORTANT to tell JWs because they believe Jesus picked them in 1919 after reviewing all religions from 1914 to 1919 but How could Jesus pick them if they didn't even exist yet. What there was were 30 different study groups or ecclesias that governed themselves it wasn't until way after 1919 when Joseph Rutherford started saying things that all the different Bible Student groups did not agree with that the larger of the 30 groups followed Rutherford and in 1931 he named them Jehovahs Witnesses. Not many JWs know about this because they are not allowed to research there religion (I know I was born and raised a JW but left when I was an adult and found out they had been lieing to us the whole time) this is a great way to disprove the Religion. I was reading through the book of Matthews today... and I just realized I have a huge log in my eye. I was raised a JW, left JW's for the past 20 years, then recently I found the true God. But I have been criticizing Muslims for their beliefs and their fake prophet... and it just hit me that my JW parents are no different. I have been thinking of a way to talk to them... but this video made me feel more urgency about it.

Yes, the usual JW will look like a dear in headlight at the door if you question a specific topic that is outside of their usual trained responses. But I won't say that all of them will leave to research the answer and never return. There are those few who enjoys studying and will research a topic thoroughly to return for more discussion. And yes, they will be very disappointed if they don't find you home after doing all of that work. But the problem is that their research is only Watchtower's publication and they return only to manipulate the scriptures better and they will tell you that all will be revealed later if they don't find the exact answers. Shortly after that interrogation and research, they will stop coming. And yet after all that frustration and embarrassment, a fully indoctrinated JW still won't dare to research outside the WT publications out of fear, guilt and command as was well reference in this video. I am glad I stopped attending to the Kingdom Hall because so many rules which some of them don't make any sense, like stop talking to former members... that is because some friends I made were disfellowshipped and one of them was still living with her JW family, and I couldn't talk to her nor even saying hello... it was quite difficult.

I don’t understand how John would say that YHWH should not be translated as Jehovah. That was how it was believed to be pronounced then. Nowadays people are on the Yahweh bandwagon. Translating as most English Bibles have to LORD was partly because we originally had no idea on how this is to be translated, and the Jewish speakers would have, “the Name”, “Lord”, out of respect and fear of blasphemy.

Love that you started with saying that JW's are one of the nicest, devoted most genuine people. They truly try to live up to Biblical standards, they keep their congregation clean and have very high moral standards. However as someone who was raised in the organization (and the majority of my family are still JW's) it is my opinion that it is a cult. However it is very good for many people especially those who were raised with no or little moral foundation and who need an Authoritarian religion to help them straighten their life out.

How many times have a form of this cult falsely predicted the Second Coming of Chirst in the last 125 years. Yeshua himself said, "Only the Father knows the hour of Second Coming of the Son of Man. The angels, saints, martyrs and even the Son does not know. Only the Father knows." The best JW repellant is mentioning your Church is 2000 years old. How old is theirs? Would their sect even exist without the original framework of the universal Roman Catholic Church and its abilities to spawn a Protestant Movement that succeeded beyond expectation but still did not weaken the Vatican walls. Sorry to say you have the originator wrong. Not an uncommon error yet significant effort has been made to correct this publicly, yet still not universally common knowledge for whatever reason. Initiated and corrected by the Library of Congress many years ago.
The man, Charles Russell, (responsible for speaking openly, initially as a resident of Pittsburgh, PA, of what he felt the Bible was about and as a steadfast mentor for the Bible Students religious group...which if looked into closely has NEVER qualified as a cult) was already dead years before the Jehovahs Witness religious group began...of which Judge J. Rutherford was the one who created his own off-shoot group of what the Bible Students had once meant for him, using only bits and pieces of his former beliefs when alongside Charles Russell.
Mr. Rutherford is the one who shuffled and distorted whatever Charles Russell once stood for and his 'do not take my word for it, but prove it for yourselves' attitude.
So it's easy to see that by having this one skewed 'fact' is enough for what has wrongly set the stage for error. How so much about the Bible Students and their biblically based thinking has been very, very, very misunderstood and misinterpreted.
The two groups continue to be very separate faiths.
Because most of the people commenting here show no evidence and don't even use the Bible in their reasoning. The teaching of the Bible cannot reconcile with people only in the way of their own thinking and principles that are not from God.

They do love the concept of Jesus and will fully accept the life story of Jesus with the annual memorial being the only and most sacred tradition that they will recognize. And they do close prayer in Jesus name. Yes, WT has covered their butt with the many books and videos depicting christ as leader in the congregation and family. But make no mistake about it, a JW will call on the governing body or give praise to the faithful and discreet slave class first before you ever hear them say "thank you Jesus, lord and salvation". That sounds too church to them and they need to be unique in addressing Jehovah god the most high and the GB who tells them what to read and obey as they have cleverly taken Jesus place in their life. So if you try to dispute a JW about loving Jesus, you won't win the arguement with them b/c of the many references of Jesus.
