    Jacques. Thanks so much for taking the time to post this. I watched your FX3 video over and over when you released it and loved seeing the BTS for that video... great reminder that people can accomplish amazing things with small crews and small budgets with the right tools and right story. You guys crushed it with such a small crew on both videos, so kudos to you and thanks for the inspiration.

    Dude, I just found this video and I think it's super-valuable because you are breaking down commercial setups, pre-production planning, and execution. I'm only a stills photographer but really want to create the videos like yours for fashion and brands. I love the fact your rig was small, the crew was minimal, story and direction were clear and simple. I would love to learn more so I can one day shoot something like this. If you were in the US, I would seriously request a workshop to practice shooting a campaign video with you for a hands-on experience. Thumbs up and Subscribed.

    Hey Jacques, this was great! I’ve deeply appreciated both of these launch videos since they were released. I have both saved and watch them every now and then. Breaking down why they were so successful is huge! I think for me it’s showcasing the personality and action of models effectively that really makes things captivating. The natural lighting is huge in making the films feel real too!

    • @jacques_crafford
      @jacques_crafford  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jonathan! Thanks man so grateful for your feedback. That's a really good point about the models, we tried to give each model an action that they felt most comfortable with and with the A7sIII we filmed athletes doing what they love so that also keeps things authentic.

    Awesome work as always Jacques. I have a question. The Sony 4K XAVC-I codec kills my PC (i7, RTX 3070, 64gigs ram, 2tb NVME drive) I get very sluggish performance and jittery playback. I think Premiere needs time to work on better updates & drivers. Anyways - I see you work off a Mac Mini (assume its the new M1) Want to know. 1. You cutting in Final Cut or Premiere? 2. Does the Mac Mini handle a full timeline with the XAVC-I codec like a hot knife through butter? Would be great to hear about your workflow? Not many videos out there explaining workarounds sluggish performance on PC's from the codec.

      Thanks so much for the kind words! You’re right I’m using the M1 Mac Mini and it’s amazing 😭 I’m editing on DaVinci Resolve which is also optimized for it but the performance is amazing. On a big timeline with full effects it can still lag sometimes but when it does I do an optimization render which the M1 does really quickly then it edits like butter for sure! 25p and 50p works super smooth without any transcoding but 100p might need some optimization. I think Adobe will catch up soon with the next update.

    This video was legit my man! Sheesh crazy to see an inside scoop as to what goes into these type of short films. I am starting the journey of getting into videography - something that has been a small passion of mine for a few years but I have eventually decided to actually start looking at getting into it more seriously. This video was inspiring and super keen to check your future videos too! I believe I am going to for sure learn a lot from a fellow South African! P.S. Love the fact that you plugged FOM in your video. Those okes are legit. Cheers mate!

    WOW ! WHAT TRUTH - Kept in context (you said it right there - TRUTH) because now we are living in post CV & INDUSTRY CHANGE is happening whether we like it or not. High end productions, smaller budgets, less crew - being intuitively creative. THIS IS INDEED THE FUTURE OF FILM MAKING. 🎥💪🏼👍🏻💪🏼💪🏼🎥

    • @jacques_crafford
      @jacques_crafford  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Philippe! I'd say 90% of the gimbal shots didn't need any stablisation, but some were done in Post using DaVinci Resolve's Built-in Stabiliser
