I thought what you call here the paralax move is actually called a Dolly Zoom or the Vertigo shot, effect. Because Hitchcock first used it in his movie Psycho..

Hi, I am Moosa a film maker from Kenya. I love your content and i have been watching them from the first show reels. I am 100% transitioning to sony. Thank you Jacques Crafford.
It's so crazy how you always release the exact video/tutorial that I need at the exact moment! Love how simple but impactful your teaching methods are👌🏼. Great video as always!
Def the best channel out here for film makers, I learn something new every video even if it’s a topic I’m already familiar with. Keep it up brotha, I want to see you hit 1M this year!
🔴 This is my 2nd time looking at this video. The first I looked at it, I am not sure but I stopped watching it. I think something came up and I just forgot to return to it. Jacques, I viewed it in full today. This was a truly great video, that for making and taking the time to show. I quite like your deconstruct which you hardly see or at least I have not seen too much on this channel. I do have questions to ask you but honestly with exception of Hugh Brownstone at "Three Blind Men and An Elephant" no one have ever responded to a question so I just don't ask. Continued success! Very nice work.
Yet another amazing video, Jacques! Seriously so helpful for anyone trying to wrap their head around planning shots. Looking forward to the next one! ✌

Thanks for the tips. Any ideas on getting these kind of shots when you're a one-man band (i.e., the camera person and the talent)?? That would be a nice video!! Subbed.
You're welcome Sean! Most of these shots are do-able as a one-man band you just need reliable Autofocus. I'll see if I can make a video where the focus is solo operation. Cheers!
You sir are the new cherif in town, simple, straight forward and objective informative content is what we need. For this one you earned my notification bell🙏
Hey, Just some film history the 'parallax zoom' is called the 'contra-zoom' and originates from vertigo from alfred hitcock in 1958. Alot of movies have used it as inspiration! including Jaws but Vertigo made it famous and popular amongst filmmakers!
Love your content sir. I am a wedding photographer but I've done some wedding videography as well and your content is giving me so much idea on how to improve my style. Thank you very much!!!
Thank you, you are a machine, a video of how you expose backlighting, camera angles, filters, samples of your backlit videos would be nice, I love filming against backlighting and it would be great to learn from a guy like you, thank you so much.

Of course Jacques Crafford, the parallax zoom with "Jaws" and Martin Brody (Body...) on the beach, but for info years before Welles in "Citizen Kane" with Kane in his famous political speach's climax ! As for me the fact is that we always have to find the well (Wells...) integration of the technical shot within the idea of the shot and the scene. Those movies are exemples of course : one idea per shot = what idea at first and then what kind of shot ? Now it also happens that the reverse is possible, namely that a plan can give a good idea - happy accidents are to be seized 🙂 So let's jump into mise en scene 🤠 Thanks for your tutorials it's really nice 🍻
Yann! Thanks so much for your feedback. I've never seen Citizen Kane but it looks like there's a gap in my education. I'm going to try and watch it soon but it looks epic.
