  • Welcome back everyone, from Scotland! In this video, I give an updated tour around my 2006 Nissan Elgrand 'Stealth' Camper Van.
    Since uploading my first video to this channel almost a month ago, I have been busy upgrading the van with additional features to improve the general usability and comfort of the van.
    While this video is a quick update, I thought it may hold some useful tips for anyone watching who is in the process of building their own camper van or even converting their MPV for use as a camper!
    Please feel free to ask me any questions in the comments, as always, and I'll get back to you as quickly as I can. As I'm sure you can tell, I filmed this video 1/2 way through a 7 day trip up to the highlands of Scotland, which was an amazing trip.

    The kitchen at the back is great. Definitely makes me want to go for something with a tailgate rather than barn doors

      Cheers! Oh tailgate all the way 100%.. so many more options and a natural shelter / awning for extended outdoor dry space 🙌

    Am watching this from Kenya and I am wowed! That's some ingenuity and loads of fun. A self contained mobile home. Imagine taking a roadtrip in one of these over the Christmas holidays. Delightful.

    Another good video , and you've gained a new subscriber . Look forward to seeing more videos and info , id recommend a awning on the back of van to open the space and it will give a dry space to do your cooking and would be a good area to dry your clothes and some privacy for a shower , just a simple tip . Its what i intend to do with my Elgrand , when i eventually purchase one . I was considering doing a vw caddy van conversion until i looked into a Elgrand conversion . I like your simple idea.

    Keep ‘em coming, getting lots of inspiration from you. I’ve removed the middle row of seats, left with the runners though, still thinking on it and wondering if I should have removed the back row of seats instead. Planning on using the seats to make a bed set up something like yours. Also saving for a Yeti cool box, check them out, could be useful to you too. I converted to LPG when I bought the van, just before prices increased, still works out lots better although is never going to feel cheap. I use the train for commuting more these days, still worth it to be able to keep the Elgrand!

    Great stuff !
    Particularly like the DIY rear kitchen unit.
    Am just starting out with an E51
    Rider aiming to create an economical, luxury, stealth 'campering' van - modest spend and leaving the interior intact.
    Share kitchen unit plans / would your Dad make to order ? 😁
    Keep up the inspiring work !

    Those little USB desk fans are great!
    Try it plugged into a solar panel for daytimes. I can run my 3 speed one at all 3 speeds from my ipad sized solar panel (28W - 4 separate panels and it'll run from just one on a decent day!).

    i am suggesting an agm car battery, you can reuse all your car components like lamp, fan, usb, tv, radio and use a 12v fridge via the cigarette port. with solar panel and solar controller you probably can wired it to charge the battery when it is not charge by the car alternator.

    • @ctbuilds

      Definitely a good idea ! My next upgrade for sure will be increasing the power system’s capability. For now I just kept it simple - but that’ll happen in the future for sure 😁

    Thanks for the videos, so helpful! Is there any room for a small portable/foldable toliet in the front with the bed down? Just buying an Elgrand and going to start out with the set up like your first video, so hopefully room for a Boginabin type toliet in front of the bed then? but not sure there would be room after you fit a rear unit? Thank you

    • @ctbuilds
      @ctbuilds  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad you’re enjoying! In this setup
      I’d say the only space for a toilet would be in front of the passenger seat - as the bed fits right up against the backs of the seats. Not tonnes of space here! But always easy to flip the bed up and have one down there. Just not easy in an emergency to access haha. Without the rear unit, plenty of space if just a bed 👍🏼

    Hi mate, How do you cook when its windy or raining?

    • @ctbuilds
      @ctbuilds  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey dude! Not got the van anymore but that’s a tricky one.. not impossible but harder - something simple is parking next to walls or big trees if possible to gain natural shelter for then using the back :)
      Failing that - inside on a little stove with the window open works well as long as the surface is sturdy enough and you have a couple windows open for ventilation! Just be real careful with that option.

    How did you fix the unit to the floor ?

    • @ctbuilds
      @ctbuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! Hope this makes sense.. so basically I slotted bolts with t shaped ends into the stock seat channels. I used those to fit a sacrificial piece of plywood to the floor. I then screwed the unit down to that piece of wood!
      Definitely could’ve mounted it more securely, but as it’s fitted so tightly and has weight to it it really didn’t need much fastening. Hope that Makes sense !

    Hello
    Do you carry a spare wheel ?

    • @ctbuilds
      @ctbuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey ! I don’t always, no. As the lpg tank is fixed now where the stock spare wheel was mounted. If I have space Inside then I Chuck it in but I don’t always.. Bit of a risk but I plan to find a solution soon! 😁

      Muraad Juma not at all! The tank is the same height as the spare wheel was so I have plenty of ground clearance even going slightly off road & down big ramps !
