    Many of these Japanese vans seem to have low skirting to the sides, and ends (sorry if that is the wrong name) I want to go up hills, small roads Wales, Scot then on to France, Spain - to hopefully follow big cycle races. This means pulling over, often riding up banks to pass others, especially during races and when roads busy with holiday makers. How did you find the Elgrand, with banking. Maybe skirting helps long driving on big or windy roads, but there is no point driving all the way wanting to watch some racing, then finding van can't cope there nor up Welsh hills. Or I constantly scrape it, creating corrosion start points. I live in Cornwall, so often have to bank, reverse up road edge with no idea what's there, fingers and legs tightly crossed. Sorry if this is too long. Maybe I should stick with saving for a Mazda Bongo.

      I have to say, Anna, there were a few times I did almost get my Elgrand stuck - especially up in the Scottish highlands! Ride height wasn't as low as it looks for general driving but ground clearance wasn't great when pulling up on verges etc. Any standard height van will be fine - but a slight suspension lift would be welcome on almost any camper in my opinion. Much more flexibility as to where you can go!

    Thanks for the videos, so helpful! Is there any room for a small portable/foldable toliet in the front with the bed down? Just buying an Elgrand and going to start out with the set up like your first video, so hopefully room for a Boginabin type toliet in front of the bed then? but not sure there would be room after you fit a rear unit? Thank you

    • @ctbuilds
      @ctbuilds 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad you’re enjoying! In this setup I’d say the only space for a toilet would be in front of the passenger seat - as the bed fits right up against the backs of the seats. Not tonnes of space here! But always easy to flip the bed up and have one down there. Just not easy in an emergency to access haha. Without the rear unit, plenty of space if just a bed 👍🏼

    Can’t argue with the simplicity 😂 just make sure if you’re going to watch movies in the car you have a jump pack … you’ll need it. Love my Elgrand too, very comfy ride especially compared to my previous Toyota commercial type van. Enjoy.

      @ctbuilds 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey dude! Not got the van anymore but that’s a tricky one.. not impossible but harder - something simple is parking next to walls or big trees if possible to gain natural shelter for then using the back :) Failing that - inside on a little stove with the window open works well as long as the surface is sturdy enough and you have a couple windows open for ventilation! Just be real careful with that option.

    CT Builds excellent video. Living in a rural village we don`t have gas so we cook with LPG also many my age will remember the "Calor Gas Heaters" it proves everything you said regarding ultra low carbon emissions, if I tried heating or cooking indoors with petrol it would quickly poison the atmosphere and me. I`ve just purchased an elgrand, I `m getting LPG as soon as I`ve saved enough to have it fitted - and absolutely recommend it because running a car on petrol is insane! and the more people wake up to the savings the less likely garages will remove it from their forecourts. Well done. PS. The lower octane just means running cooler but less acceleration bit less wear on the engine.

Can you re visit that & drop me a link to exactly what you're using there to achieve that? I know this is obvs to you but I'm 63. Another good video , and you've gained a new subscriber . Look forward to seeing more videos and info , id recommend a awning on the back of van to open the space and it will give a dry space to do your cooking and would be a good area to dry your clothes and some privacy for a shower , just a simple tip . Its what i intend to do with my Elgrand , when i eventually purchase one . I was considering doing a vw caddy van conversion until i looked into a Elgrand conversion . I like your simple idea.

    • @MW6PNW
      @MW6PNW 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It doesnt make any difference at all to road tax. However, you will not be able to take any vehicle fitted with LPG through the Channel Tunnel. Ive no idea why this is as a Gas tank is a lot thicker and sturdyer than a petrol tank and has roughly the same spark point, but thats how it is.

  • @davidmwood560
    @davidmwood560 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've had a few vehicles on lpg., from a Saab 9-5 to a Jeep Grand Cherokee. All ran perfectly except the Saab, which blew a head gasket. This was due to "top-end dry out", the golden rule with lpg seems to be.... Always have the "flash-lube" option fitted. This prevents oil starvation around the valves and cylinder head area; avoiding the massive cost of a replacement head_gasket. Of course, the cost equation has to be the decider. You'll get roughly the same mpg on liquid gas, but at half the cost. Thus, if your vehicle gets around 25mpg on petrol; with lpg, it's like getting 50mpg!

    Hi, Thanks for sharing with us your personal experiences with the Elgrand. My wife and I are in process of looking for own Elgrand. Can I ask you, regarding your particular van, do your rear seats fold down flat as apposed to folding to the sides of the van? If so, what model do you have if you don’t mind me asking?

    I'm removing all the rear seats and fitting a good quality indoor leather sofa bed behind the front seats facing the boot. Its super comfortable for day time, especially with both doors and boot open when it's hot. I've bought a low rear storage bench that sits across the boot space right to the rear. It's about a foot high and holds the split charger leisure battery, inverter, induction hob, charger etc. To one side of the boot I have a low campervan chest fridge that's also a pull out table during the day. I'm not bothering with water/sink etc it's not needed most of the time. I have an android projector with a roll down large screen for cosy movie nights. I'm also a digital artist so I project my art for folks to see when I'm parked, and have actual prints in the windows, good advertising and great blinds 😁. I have a multi coloured and controlled led lighting loop around the whole roof and WiFi. Other than the sofa I got second hand and the electricals it's barely cost me anything. I'll do a video once it's completed but it looks fly af man😉
