Hi. Any idea of the total cost of your conversion please. Would like to do the same conversion to mine. As we don’t want a full kitchen conversion.
Like you more if a day van and occasional 1-2 night sleepover.

Hi John,
It really does depend on how far you go to be honest.
As a ball park figure to simply remove the flooring and replace with laminate wood around three hundred quid, if you sound proof and insulate too maybe another hundred on top.
That’s not necessary to do the conversion but gives you the base to screw into.
The leisure batteries and split charge relay and lights etc maybe three hundred.
The actual benches and table around four hundred.
The main factor is the labour and effort required, do it yourself and it’s very good value, pay someone and I guess the cost could escalate.
I suppose you could do as little or as much as you choose, use cheaper materials too to bring costs down.

Loving the left and videos! I’m looking at one of these along with a t5 for my wife and two kids. Any advice on whether these are worth buying? Know they won’t keep value like a transporter but also won’t be fully converting it either…but you never know haha

Hiya- it really does depend on so many factors!
Value alone, Elgrand will win hands down, most likely almost half the cost.
Much better drive and engine power, less miles to the gallon.
VW have more parts readily available and are slightly bigger.
My advice would be, if you have a healthy budget and want to sleep in it regularly then go VW.
If you want a day van with attitude and a bit quirky then go Nissan.

Love your build how long did it take you to do. where did you start?

Hiya, in all it took me around six months between running and working. I began by stripping it right out and doing the sound deadening, insulation and then flooring and carpet.
I reckon around 20 weekends worth of work.
