I feel it is a beautiful and functional addition to the city, and I hope to see Govan grow from this. I believe there are also big plans for the waste ground next to the Museum, that also will benefit both sides of the river. Great video you captured the spirit of that magical day.

Wow 29.5 million pounds and one of the longest pedestrian bridge in Europe! And very impressive. Designed to open and swing for ships to pass. And the engineering is insane indeed. Govan side was very much about showing off what it had tk offer with the Govan Stones, teaching music to young people and various initiatives self funded for an array of things. A few months before there was a new pedestrian bridge completed in Warsaw, Poland, which is 452 m long so 4x the lenght of this one. Btw: it cost exactly the same amount :)

Just like the rotating tower upstream no doubt it will break down shortly! Also, a brand new bridge and ScotRail cant even fix the lifts at partickhill station, a bloody joke 😊!
They are testing it out just to make sure. Let's just stay optimistic about this bridge. Scotrail are a whole other kettle of fish from somebody that does have some concerns about their duty and service. That could be a whole other video but fear once I started it would be an hour or 2 long with all the issues they have 🤦♂️🤣👍😀

Three flights of steps at Pollokshaws West station are a careful struggle enough enough for me with my bicycle.. It's all well and good having an electric bus to take folk for free to Pollok hose and the Burrell but the folk who really need a bus to get them through the park are the very ones who will struggle getting down (and up!) those stairs. I've mentioned it to the ScotRail (?) planning people who indicated there were problems about land ownership and ramp provision.

Yes I do agree my friend, but a country that could build the greatest ships in the world, and once had the greatest bridge builder, Thomas Telford, that we now have to go over seas 😢. Walked over when she opened, a wonderful happy day with a great atmosphere on both sides. Have walked her every few days since and love it.

@gerrystuart9808 There is always something that money could be spent on but sometimes a simple bridge can bring people to areas they hadn't see before and who knows maybe sides will flourish with jobs and new places to eat and drink and maybe even gentrify it a bit and then the homes and businesses will do well.
