Recently decided to pull the trigger on a home-gym, and was going through a lot of Coop's videos for help. But I have to say, your videos have offered me that next level of insight that helps overanalyzer's like me actually make a decision. You do a great job of seeing every ingredient that goes into the pot, and explaining how you boil decisions down to a simple "Look if this is what's important to you, then cut back there and splurge here." Also, your jokes land a solid 85% of the time, which is way more than I would've guessed.
Good options. I'm not sure if you want to include stuff like this because it changes over time, but Rogue has a $75 shipping cap if you buy a power rack right now. That makes the Rogue stuff way cheaper if you are buying a rack and other stuff at the same time.
That is an issue with those types of things. Honestly the video kept getting longer and longer so I had to cut out a ton of things like storage etc but it's as complete as I think you'll find out there atm
Where some people perceive (that cost averaging against a shipping cap) makes stuff "way cheaper", cheap bastards like me think "not nearly as expensive".
I've never seen a video on building a home gym without a rack of some kind. The best advice I got from a mate of mine when I was considering leaving a commercial gym ( which was a big part of my life 30 plus years) was just get a couple of kettlebells and go from there. He also gave me a website to go (I'm in Australia) was something similar to Rogue. This opened my eyes to a lot of functional training equipment such as steel clubs, heavy slam balls, bulgarian bags, sand bags, maces. This was 8 years ago and to this day I still don't own a rack but I am considering a Yoke. My point is there's so much more out there and I never see these mentioned in any home gym build and at a fraction of the cost.
Also for those who don't have space for a rack but would store things in a wardrobe or cupboard. So much could be done with adjustable dumbbells, a pull up bar, rings, bands and a decent stand up adjustable bench. GGR has more recently put a video out about minimalist home gym equipment which is helpful for those with non rack set ups. I think sand bags feature
Fitness gear pro half rack from Dicks goes for $450 dollars comes with spotter arms , j cups ,pull up bar , dips made with 1 inch holes and 3x3 heavy duty 11 gauge steel !!! I’m currently squatting 450lb with it and have no issues I also bench 300lbs and the spotter arms are awesome for both squat and bench and hold up well , this rack comes with plate storage on the back and takes up very little space ! I’ve owned it 2 years now and can’t believe people still recommend rogue or REP over this.
I’m now specing my own home gym for roughly $5k. Would you recommend waiting two months for Black Friday sales? Companies like rogue offer free shipping above $5k and it seems like the 2019 sale was mostly on shipping.
Hopefully they bring their sale back but even if not many others will. Seems like the sales are starting to come back and more often. Rogue (and others) are making more then they ever have so it'll be interesting to see what they do this year. I'm waiting myself and saving up (for big things) but I also buy and aquire a lot along the way.
Wow, quick reply! :-). I’m buying many of what you listed here, do you think it would be several hundred dollars cheaper on Black Friday? Or is the free shipping on $5k saving the majority of a Black Friday deal? If it’s a couple hundred dollars, I’ll wait. Just don’t want the sale to be “5 items ship for $5”. I know you don’t know for certain, just looking for a gut check.
Another decent to good quality option is Omni Fitness out of Minnesota. I have a nice set of their competition bumpers and have been very happy with them. I got lucky and stopped in when they had a shipment of "blems" in. $1.25/lb and the blem was the hub was coated but it looks almost rusty instead of the black it was supposed to be.
I have a rogue monster rack. Surprisingly rogue bars suck when using rogue racks due to the extra width. Texas Power Bars however are actually perfect because they have a larger space between the bar sleeves AND the sleeve collars are wider. Completely eliminates the problem
I have to say that this is really a great video for building a home gym. Thank you for the great content you brought us, I think this is very useful for friends who want to quickly set up a home gym.
Sml 1 Rogue echo bar and plates 4 pieces of horse stall mats A punching bag A set of adjustable dumbbells Adjustable bench IMO, all you need for home gym.
Fun fact: the power blocks you showed on rogue's website are actually made in China. Red lever on the side are imported and red lever top are USA made. My only issue with adjustable dumbbell handles are you need 4 of everything. So if you want to go up 10lbs/hand you need four 5lb weights. Personally I have power blocks because I didn't want to deal with a bunch of change plates.
@@GlucksGymI feel these plates deserve more attention. I see no reviews of them. I have had them for close to 2 years and they have held up well. But I understand you cutting them out, no one wants to watch a 30 minute video filled with bad puns and innuendo, lol.
Do you think the 1 inch holes will be the standard and they will eventually stop producing stuff for the old standard 5/8 inch? If you want everything to match and love Rogue, go for it, but if you don't care and don't mind doing a little more work to make sure you can get things to fit (and don't need 125125125 attachments) the Rep rack is a very good rack. They have but interestingly enough I've noticed a lot of Rep stuff is cheaper when comparing the 2500 and 1k videos to this. But, in looking at a ton of stuff all the companies have gone up, my Rogue Ohio Power bar is a good chunk more than it was.
@@GlucksGym Rep does have free shipping now and did not when I bought my bench. Shipping was $43.32 for a total of $222.32, so at $209 and free shipping, it is actually less expensive now than when I bought it.
I was trying to tell people that before but there's people that just hate on companies no matter what! In my 2500 video basically everything is now cheaper which is crazy when every company's prices are flying up
Well, I just "coincidentally" ordered almost $5,000 worth of REP equipment using your link. LOL.
That's big for us! Thank you so much
Rumors Fringe is coming out with a 3x3 rack also
I'm gonna have to get to 100k subs to keep up with all these companies
It’s not really out there yet I just know because they reached out to me and asked if I could measure 📐 my monster rack dimensions and hold spacing.
You a fancy boy now!
The road to 5000. Next stop 🛑 GluckVille!
Getting closer!
Rack? I got a pair of weightlifting stands for $70.
I do want a yolk-rack tho.
Those things always scare me
@@GlucksGym haven’t had an issue so far, been about 4.5 years, they’ve held over 5 plates no issues.
I don't understand bar collectors, I bought cheapest from Amazon, and it just works
I suppose it's like collecting anything right? I can't play all my video games just as a car collector can't drive all their cars.
I really hope it's not the bar I'm thinking of because we did a review on one and I'd argue with that bar there a clear difference between it and others.
Who is ever gonna have just 1 barbell? I started with 1, now i'm at 3 power bars, 2 deadlift bars, 2 axles, kabuki transformer bar, log, trapbar, curlbar, multigrip bench bar.... And yes you only need 1, its an addiction for sure.
Haha exactly right! You've got quite the collection
@@GlucksGym I will probably get more aswell. Kinda want to finish my collection of kabuki bars at some point.
Those things are very nice but wooo the prices
@@GlucksGym especially with shipping over to norway. So far its just a dream.
I have a habit of talking myself into them, adding them to my cart, and then staring at the price when the shipping is added on
Hey I got a gym for under 5k! Watching now :)
Follow my advice and you'll be broke and well over 5k before you know it!
@@GlucksGym just finished the part where you said “all the toys in the bedroom” 😂😂 I’m dead
I clearly mean matchbox cars and stuff!
@@GlucksGymLOL SURE😂😂😂😂
I'm at $4000 already and I can't even work out in my home gym yet 🤣
Sounds like you're doing great! It's more for looking at and talking about
@@GlucksGym it's basically a cross between a premium equipment showroom and a badass selfie studio lol
Living the American dream
@@GlucksGym and doing it in Canada!
Hmmm maybe it's the Canadian way?
Your snarkiness would give Tony Stark a run for his money
Hahaha I love this comment
$5000? Wow, that may just be enough for a pair of 45s
Don't shoot so high with your goals, a single 45 is fine
Does he reply?
I tend to, until I'm so big I can ignore people and forget where I came from... someday... *looks to the sky longingly
My budget was $2,000… I spent $4,000 🤦♂️
You did it! You've joined us all in missing our budgets
Who pays off student loans?
Who has only 6 barbells? 🤷🏻♂️
Counting hex bars it's up to 30 bars
Him: 5000$ budget
Me: i spent 900$ on my home gym I even build my squat rack to save on cash cause I'm 16 I don't have very much of it.
Hey now! There's a 1k and 2500 video too haha. Idc what you spend as long as you're happy with it! I started with a free gym and slowly worked up through extra jobs so I get it
@@GlucksGym not that I am bashing your video like I still watched and found information and funny.
@@strengthrelated1205 no worries I didn't take it that way
“Building a gym for eight and a half years worth of gym memberships that still isn’t as good as those gyms”
Home gym =/= budget
Titan has a horrible Hack Squat. $1200 and its simply poorly designed.
creepy old man! lol
Rogue sucks! Overpriced 😂😂😂
