Just starting my uterine cancer journey. Your upbeat videos are the perfect positive bedtime story. Thank you for sharing your journey and educating the rest of us!
I had a hysterectomy and removal of ovaries/ fallopian tubes a year ago due to a diagnosis of endometrial cancer. I am so sorry you experienced pain and bowel movement issues, I did not, no pain and no bowel movement issues. I was age 60, perhaps it is because I was well past menopause. I love your videos, thank you for being so honest and real, with fabulous tips! You are appreciated big time!!
Thank you! I love to get another persons perspective! Yes, I certainly had pain that day but thankfully it got better quickly. Now others know they might not have any pain and that is good! I appreciate you sharing and being here! ❤️
@@jacqieustioneverythingsmit5323 Hello - I am happy to say that a little over 2 hears after my surgery, I have still not experienced any bladder issues or pain. And I am still NED. I hope this gives you some peace🙏
As always, THANK YOU for sharing! I’m 1 year out from DMX, 5 months out from chemo and 3 months out from radiation and my dr has said I should give consideration to hysterectomy. This video is helpful.💗
Hi Marina! I can't thank you enough for these videos! I have my hysterectomy/ophrenectomy in 2 weeks and it is such an enormous BLESSING to hear a person's story from a positive point of view! I lost one sister to uterine cancer and have one sister who is a survivor of Ovarian cancer. You will be Blessed for helping me with this surgery walk!! You may have mentioned this but did you do any hormone replacement therapy? I am not planning on doing that so I'd like to hear the reaction of others who made that choice. Thank You!!
Hi! Thank you for being here! It’s a blessing to reach others Ike you that need this perspective. I am not on any hormones since this surgery. My body took time to adjust but I’m doing well. Hot flashes are minimal. I sleep well. Working out helps when you are able. I pray you do well! 🙏🏼❤️
I was 53 when I had a total hysterectomy, due to ovarian cancer, last June 2021.. I thank God I didn't experience any pain nor discomfort, no mood swings nor hot flashes. But, you're right. It does get better. Glad you're doing well. 😊
My primary cancer is ovarian and I had debulking surgery 2 years ago. chemo wrapped up a little over a year ago. My hot flashes are still terrible waterfalls 😅. One thing that helped me was seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist. So worth it. The debulking surgery felt like it mushed stuff down yonder, and I had to get the basics firing again before I could do anything else.
You’re welcome. Yes, this can be a hard surgery to come to terms with. It’s very personal and you don’t know what to expect. I can tell you I’m doing well. I think symptoms can be managed. You have to really weigh your risk to benefit ratio. I personally had a high risk with a genetic mutation.
I had a full hysterectomy with ovary and fallopian tube removal. I had stage 1a ovarian cancer. My surgical team/dr's did a mlre exploratory approach where i was cut from just above my belly button all the way down. The incisions are 3 deep, meaning, i had 3 layers of stitches. The healing from being cut open and everyrhing they had to do was intense! I was laid up for a solid 3 weeks and it wasnt until about 5 weeks where i felt like i was a "normal" person. Hot flashes could be from my rounds of chemo, sleep disturbances here and there but overall im feeling fine. I go on long walks and after my chemo is complete the day after Thanksgiving (yay!!!) and i get my picc line out ill begin lifting again. *My port got injected. Scary!! For anyone reading this, youll be just fine! I juat turned 44 yrs old and wont be doing HRT or anything like that. All we can do is supplement and eat foods to support bone health, heart health and brain health. (I love Dr Gundry products personally).
Thank you so much for sharing your journey, especially as someone my age. As “superfical” as it sounds; looks wise, personality wise, libido wise; do you feel like you are a person you were before chemo and histerectomy?
Hi! I love this question. I think for me personally I am doing well with all of this. It took some time like six months to a year to feel like I had a libido back, energy back, and the strength to be myself again. It’s an evolving process after everything. I know it’s possible to find that new normal and be happy.
Thank you for this video! I appreciate all of the great info you give us! I’m having double mastectomy surgery with reconstruction in a couple months. Im a little nervous and have no idea what to expect after. Do you have a video about this or any helpful info for this type of surgery? Any info from someone who has gone through this first hand would be so very helpful!
Thank you as always for your comments. I have a “breast surgery tips” video that I will link. I hope your surgery goes well! It is a major surgery so plan accordingly with rest, healing and physical therapy afterwards.
Just completed 6 rounds of chemo for my stage 4 ovarian cancer. Scans came back really good, tumors shrunk, dissolved and most are gone. Complete hysterectomy coming my way the end of October. I have read that some women experience bladder leakage. Did you?
During my second round of chemo my chemo nurse said she wanted to check for the tumor that I had found right by my clavicle, it was on a lymph node. I found that lump doing a facial on myself. Talk about luck. Anyway she felt for it and it had either shrunk or was completely gone. But whatever it had done she couldn't find it. My surgery was set for mid November 2022. I did one more scan just before surgery and all tumors including the one on my ovary were gone. During surgery doctor found a tiny pin size tumor, removed it tested it, positive for cancer so I did 3 more rounds of chemo.. Last treatment was last January 2022. Another scan, blood work, remission 🤗.. My only maintenance are scans every 6 months. Blood work and doctor visit every 3 months. February will be 1 year remission. Feeling great.
Hi! I’m sorry! It is hard to accept. The surgery and body transformation is very much a journey. I know I did what was best for me. That doesn’t always make it easy but since I’ve had cancer twice it truly beats the alternative. I pray you find peace and healing when you need to do your surgery! ❤️
Hi Marina, thank you for the video. I’m having ovarian cancer and had total hysterectomy and going through chemo now. I’m really struggling with lack of sleep and hot flashes, so would you advise on something especially about the sleeping?
Hi! Depending how recent your surgery was this could get better. I would advise trying black cohosh at night and cooling sheets. You’re so inspiring and strong 💪🏻 I have a question for you. Why aren’t you on hormone replacement? I too am a BRCA1+ TNBC survivor and I’ve had my breasts and ovaries and tubes removed but I’m on hormone replacement since I’m only 27. Since my cancer wasn’t hormone driven HRT is okay and gives me the cancer benefit of having those high risk organs gone but I also get the various life/health benefits of still getting estrogen. I plan to like you remove my uterus too but I haven’t had kids yet so want to carry the embryos I froze before chemo once I hit the 5 year cancer free mark before removing my uterus☺️
Hi Savannah! Thank you for being here! Good question. I am not on HRT at this time. I don’t feel like I need it right now and since I have had breast cancer twice, that is why they want me to avoid it if possible even though my breast cancer was triple negative. Everyone is unique in their journey. Having doctors you trust and can communicate with is important to figure all this stuff out. I pray you stay cancer free, and are feeling good! ❤️
Hi! I’m sorry to hear that. Personally I try to eat organic fruits, veggies, avoid sugar and less dairy. I diet rich in healthy foods, oils and protein especially plant protein is always good. I fast 12 hours every night. I hear good things about intermittent fasting but you should do your own research. I would find good doctors to help you.
Can you tell me who your oncologist and surgeon is in Phoenix ? What treatment/ hospital did you use? Can you private message me. A friend in your area just got diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma. I'm two years out from invasive lobular and I went to MD Anderson Houston.
Thank you so much for sharing these tips. I've just been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and will be getting a total hysterectomy - this is so helpful!
Sending love ❤️ 🙏🏾
I’m glad this could help you!

Good to know. Congrats on one more chemo! I hope all goes well for you!

Is the ovarian surgery was after the radiation straight forward as I have to but I am still on the radiation
I did my surgery 2 months after my radiation was done.
How long numbness n tinkling will be there after last chemotherapy. Please reply thnks
I would expect some improvement in 3-6 months. There could always be some neuropathy though.
