We want to share our passion for efficient, sustainable homesteading that brings the family together. On our homestead we do chemical-free gardening, grass-fed milk and beef, pastured eggs and broiler chickens, and free range children :) We love to go on adventures as a family, so if we're not workin on the farm, we're probably hiking or out getting ice cream. We're all into DIY, and being inventive and creative. We believe in homesteading that's sustainable, not just sustainable homesteading. In other words, we want to show you that homesteading doesn't have to wear you out to the point that you give it up. We've seen it happen, and almost came to that point ourselves. So go ahead and take a whack at that subscribe button if you'd like to join us on this crazy ride. Get ready to learn and be inspired!

Just want to say that I love the burnt lasagna and the dropped bread because these things really happen sometimes! All too often we only see the perfect things online, and it makes us feel like we're doing it wrong. So I love to see the not so perfect things because it reminds me that if I make a mistake, that doesn't mean I failed. ❤

I like how you keep it real. You didn’t edit out the mishaps that happened in real life. Over cooking a lasagna, because life happens. Or the dropping of the fresh loaf of bread.
This validates everyones struggles, and gives them the courage to try.

As always, I really enjoy your videos. As a family medicine provider, I do not recommend Afrin nasal spray to be used regularly as it causes profound rebound congestion. That stated a spray or two during a significant nosebleed stops the bleeding often as well as cautery. Coconut oil applied gently with a Q-tip a few days a week in winter can prevent the nosebleeds from reoccurring.

It is so dry in the winter that I either boil a pan of water on the stove or on the woodstove if I have that going. Helps with the dryness and the static electricity tremendously. Just gotta remember to keep adding water so you don't burn the pan up! More humidity may help with your nose :)

I'm glad Codi is finally getting to do his dream of mead making! I started that same way with beer making. My first batch I let get completely done and I figured if it was good, I would continue. If not, I'd never do it again. Luckily, it was good and 15 years later, and 180ish batches later, I'm still doing it! Now that I'm back home in Upper South (known for many, gray days) all I do to prepare for long winter is force bulbs of Hyacinth to stretch out over winter until I can get into the garden again! 3. Good Morning Codi and Michelle. Lasagna, bread , Mead , and Cheese what a great life ! They all look so tasty. Thank you for your video, just lots of good information. Codi I am excited to share another Utube site called "Simple living Alaska ." These folks keep chickens all winter long in Alaska . Check out two of their recent vids about a small heater they use. It might work for your homestead. Please watch the first vid is called "Let There Be Light! | Heating The Chicken Coup With Diesel Fuel," and the second video is " Heating Chicken Coup For Alaska's Harsh Winter." On another note I recommend a thick rubber water trough so you can flip the ice cube out by flipping the thick rubber container over as the ice does not stick to it. Some big farms use and old tractor tire. They cut the top of the tire off, and seal the rim hole on the bottom of the tire. Depending how big the tire is you can hit the sides with a sledge hammer with out damaging as the rubber tire is pliable. Hope these are useful.

Also, I love that Pampered Chef mixing bowl. That is perfect for sourdough starter! The plastic lid allows the starter to "burp" the fermenting gasses that come off of it. I used to put mine in plastic soup take out containers.

Just found your channel. So great! You two are doing this and it is real. You don't edit everything out to make it look perfect. Your happy to say what has gone wrong or why you still buy from the markets. Thank you so much. From Queensland Australia.

Thanks for the kick in the pants to get things done... watching your videos is inspiring and motivating! Granted, I'm not a homesteader, but I still have chores to do (dishes, laundry, taking care of the dogs, etc) I wanted to sit down and knit, but getting the chores done 1st while listening to you helped ke push through so I can relax and enjoy my knitting time! Thanks again and stay warm 😉

I have this aluminum trivet like disk thing I put under my pan on the stove as well, for more thickness, I even use it under my canner and cold packer. Was my grandma's. I have used distilled and cider vinegar to make my ricotta cheese. I gave my whey to my chickens to drink, they loved it...I try not to waste anything.

Loved this video! I've really been enjoying your channel. To keep our chickens' water from freezing we use old crockpots with a tile or flat stone on top, set them to "warm" and then set the waterer on top. It keeps the water just warm enough to keep from freezing and has been a game charger for winter! We love the Rent-A-Coop waterers.

Neat idea, but not sure if I would feel comfortable with something not made to be waterproof 😬
