So instead of purchasing cooking spray, you can actually get a bump based aerosol bottle with a spray nozzle from like pampered chef or possibly amazon and put olive oil in it. You pump the top and then the spray nozzle creates a mist of the olive oil (or other oil you like). We LOVE this thing.
I use one also. It can be annoying to pump often instead of having one fluid spray like an actual aerosol oil can, but it doesn’t mean it’s not worth it.
You guys are very relatable, real, and honest. I hope you never lose that on your channel. Thanks for all your content! My son and i have been learning a lot
What a privilege it is to live like this, freedom, peace, happiness, eating healthy organic food, this is truly a blessing, the best wealth one can ask for, I am currently praying to get this life...
I'm soooo glad to see young people like you living a sustainable life. When the refuse hits the oscillating device, so many people will be lost because they don't know how to grow anything, fix anything, cook anything or ...really DO anything! They'll be coming for our stores and gardens!
My Austrian Grandma made homemade cottage cheese with lemon juice, not with rennet. Also, the milk is brought to a boil first then the heat is reduced to low. The lemon juice is added to the hot milk and slowly and gently stirred as the curd separates until all is fully separated. The curdled milk is then poured over a bowl with linen towel to catch the curd. It is wrung out and then put into a bowl with cold water. Wrung out again and now the curds are separated with a spoon. At the end she added heavy cream to the consistency she would want it to be. Sometimes she added sour cream instead of heavy cream if she needed it that way for a specific recipe. Her Cottage cheese was always super delicious.
As a wanna-be future homesteader, I am really happy to have found your channel as a reference to any and all of my self-sustaining and sustainable gardening desires! Thank you so much for the work and time you put in this channel, and for allowing all of us around the world to utilize your knowledge and resources! I hope you folks have a lovely day, and happy farming! :^) I'll definitely recommend this channel anytime to my farming friends!
It's so encouraging that you and your husband obviously share like minded goals for your life, your family and your farm. That is the foundation of a stable and happy and productive marriage. Your lifestyle reflects your family values. I love your channel!😊😊
❤ I’m drooling over your storage areas!! Also I love your teamwork! You’re lucky to have each other, and your kids are super lucky! God bless you all. 🙏
Loved watching Michelle telling her stories. She is a natural, and I like her idea of getting (her recipe to taste) the actual amounts down on paper. Most great cooks, as she stated cook by taste, and that works for them, but not many are that talented.
Hello there 🕊️ I learn so much on your channel!!!!! 💛 The fresh cheese/cottage cheese looks perfectly fine. Don't forget that the store baught cottage cheese is made with more chemicals which makes the cottage cheese separate. Plus their milk is a lot lower quality than yours. As I know from my grandparents homestead this is perfectly fine fresh cheese, which can be turned into lot of different fresh or aged cheeses. And this kind of cheese gives a super European stile cheesecake. 💛
I learned to use my Black Raspberry leaves instead of buying grape leaves to keep my pickles crisp - loaded with tannin. Raspberry leaf tea is also excellent for respiratory system.
Y'all are doing Amazing!!! Any burden you feel from the homestead community to do something a certain way, throw it off so you can keep running your race well. It's not for you to bear it. ❤️🙌🏼🕊️
Thank you so much 😊 Michelle especially needs to hear that! I’m a little more ok not caring what people think, but Michelle has a harder time with it. She’s doing well, but feels the pressure.
@@morethanfarmersI think everyone wants to share advice and that’s how we all learn. Just keep in mind everyone means well, but things can sometimes come out with a different tone than they meant.
A healthy, beautiful life always begins with appreciation for the land that provides it. Your family looks very happy, balanced & healthy! More people need your knowledge....❤
Many thanks for the elaborately produced video. It is very valuable to me during harvest time. the cottage cheese looks great, the rich yellow from the full-fat milk makes it valuable and nutritious. As a medical nutritionists i can only congratulate you on how well you eat. This is how you all stay healthy and the children grow up in the best circumstances. have one good week, God bless you
I've been scratch cooking forever. I grind all my corn meal and flour. Fresh veggies even in winter, grow lights etc. Plus I live in a condo. So no farm. Grow veggies in grow bags. During covid I was all set.😊😊
My husband and I are disabled and retired. We've done raised bed gardening for the first time. I was very proud of our tomatoes and potatoes. We don't have to have big bed since it's just he and I. I'm 64 years old and I've been canning ever since a child. Every summer vacation I was at Grandma's helping her in the garden and learning and learning how yo preserve food for at least a year. Congratulations on a beautiful home, family and garden. Keep up the good work and teach your little ones well. Love and prayers from Tennessee
There’s so many homesteading channels that I’ve come across since I really started to give this life some serious thought but just came across your channel today. All I can say is Wow! The more I learn, and I’ve learned a lot from you guys already, the more I realize how much there is to consider when planting or growing just about ANYTHING. Haha. My goodness it’s kind of overwhelming. But I know it’s all trial and error and you have to learn and start somewhere. I have 5 acres and I feel like I have the perfect space to start becoming more self sufficient but I struggle with procrastination. Watching more of your videos might just give me the motivation I need. Thanks for sharing your life and process with the rest of us. God bless.
That's so good to hear! Thank you. It can be overwhelming, but especially if you try to take on too much at once. We started out with babies in diapers, building a house, starting a garden, having chickens, and getting a milk cow pretty much all at once 😬 NOT recommended 😂 Take it one step at a time. Maybe start a simple garden one year, then get chickens the next. Get comfortable with that before diving into a milk cow, get good at a few simple garden things before adding more variety, etc. You got this. Have fun too!
We were on a project in Ukraine, and lived next door to an older farming couple. She made cottage cheese for us several times a week. It came out more solid and we broke off chunks of it to eat. It was really good!! A different texture than what we get in USA, but was a wonderful treat for two hungry people. 😉
I really enjoyed this video. The two of you are so real. What you’re providing your kids is a lifetime of good health. We are what we eat. Thank you. New subscriber.
Ghee (homemade) is my fat of choice for cooking, sautéing, greasing pans, etc. It’s a great way to make shelf-stable butter as well. But for toast, butter on bread, hot veges, etc, I still prefer butter.
Oh wow!!! What a dream (for me) to live this lifestyle. It looks so intimidating!! I often think that if I was to do something like this, that I’d need someone to help me through it.
This is definitely one of the best videos you have done. As a family of 7, we have to raise as much food as we can. We also make all of our breads, tortillas, crackers, etc from scratch. We grow much of our own medicine as well. I wish I could hang my herbs, but without air conditioning, it gets super hot here in Oklahoma. We do dry what we harvest in the fall. We also make our own soap and shampoo, lotions(tallow is wonderful for the skin), balms. Our next goals include finishing the root cellar and turning off the electricity completely. Slowly but surely we will get there. Love all that we share in common! It's encouraging to see others live this way. God bless you and your family ❤️
Wow! Sounds like you guys really have it going on! Definitely an inspiration. And I really love that you are slowly working towards your goals rather than trying to do it all at once and burning out and giving up completely!
Great job to see you both so young and on your homestead game. Buttermilk can be easily made to add to your cottage cheese. Mix 1 cup whole milk with 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. This equals one cup of buttermilk. Hope this helps! Keep up the great work! CG in SC
I just found your channel today and really enjoy what you all are doing. Actually I was watching Homestead Heart and your channel came up afterwards titled "Do This to Stay Out of the Grocery Store and Be More Self- Sufficient." I subscribed so that I can watch more. Last year I started growing a few foods in my small backyard of my home but I'm in the city with not much room. You all are young and it's great that you are growing your own and eating most of your own. I'm almost 64 now and wish I had done something like this when I was younger when I had more energy and mobility. Keep up the great work that you all are doing!
I absolutely love how health conscious you guys are... I’ve been anti-seed oils for years and my life improved so much when I did... I had irritable bowel syndrome, I was constantly going from constipated to diarrhoea, since I stopped seed oils, I have been as regular as the sun... same with the packet sauces, etc... living naturally is so much better....
I buy Amish organic cottage cheese and yours looks exactly like what I buy from them. Give yourself a break! You did an amazing job! Thanks for sharing everything you do on your homestead! I so struggle with the tiny 3/4 acre we have and homeschooling our 2 kids as one completely rebelled. If you ever have a free moment can you share how to start your sourdough starter? It would be most helpful. Cody, I so appreciate your testimony as well. Wish you and Michelle lived closer, although Ohio is only an 8hr drive. Thanks for the inspiration! Hoping for a dairy cow someday
Thanks for the support! As for the sourdough starter, I did make one on my own but it wasn't very robust. A friend offered me some of hers and I couldn't believe the difference. I really do believe that starters become more robust over time. So if you know a friend who has one, that would be a great option. You can also order a bit of starter off of Etsy. They aren't expensive at all and will save you a lot of time and grief. Keep dreaming about the dairy cow😉
I make basic cottage cheese with full fat milk and lemon juice. Heat it and put in the lemon juice. When the curds form it’s done. I just drain it and it keeps in the fridge for a week or so. I add salt pepper and herbs and garlic and then use it over pasta
First time watching your channel. You two are so good together. I really enjoyed the content, but more enjoyed how you both are so in to what you are doing. So much information in such a short video.
Michelle needs her own show "Homestead Woman"!! You guys are totally awesome! I so admire everything you do to live such a happy, simple and healthy lifestyle! Btw, are you adopting? 😊
You are SO inspirational!!! I am beyond blessed to have found your channel (I subscribed this morning 😊) My husband and I are wanting to get out of the city and buy a home on some property. We aren’t financially ready for this yet so my dream is on hold. In the meantime I’ve been learning all that I can to be better prepared for that dream. I’ve built two smaller raised beds to surround the porch of our condo so that I can get gardening! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your wealth of knowledge and your willingness to share it with us!! Much love from Michigan!
Sounds like you've got some good stuff going, Danielle! Keep working with what you have. You'd be surprised how profitable small things here and there can be. ❤️
This film was so much fun but also super informative. Thank you so much for sharing this. Hubby and I are retired and eat organic the whole way, from toothpaste to toilet paper and everything I between but I wish I could rewind the clock and go back and give this homesteading life a shot. I know it's a lot of work but IMO it is sooooo worth it. Your children are so blessed to have parents like you who care enough about their health to go the extra mile (100 miles!😂) to insure they have a better life. Good luck in all you do and God bless you!! Lots of love from Texas!❤
Ohhhh waffles 😋😋😋 I ❤how apple mint sounds! I don’t think we have that in the UK. Chocolate mint! Does that taste like chocolate? We have regular mint and spearmint. Sometimes stems are actually toxic in some herbs. Like sorrel for example, take the stems out before eating the leaves. I learnt that one the hard way. I love learning stuff like this. I miss drying herbs for tea and haven’t done it in years. But this is inspiring me to do it again. Never seen tallow be rendered before….interesting! Thanks for all the info. 🤩
That's amazing that you are able to grow and raise so many things on your property! We are on a few acres but within city limits, so we have a lot of restrictions on what we can raise. We have chickens and may get goats, but that will probably be the extent of it! I love how you shared ideas that we could try even without having lots of land. I recently learned sourdough and am hoping to get a second dutch oven to bake more bread at once!
I like you guys ! you teaching people what way they suppose to live healthy & cheap way , this is great lesson for the people have big land like you ! we can live organic way if we all wake up together, we can even live without technology!!!❤❤❤
It is refreshing to see two young people, so knowledgeable about the old ways of doing things. Where do you find women that know how to make cheese, homemade bread, medical, herbal remedies, and this day and time?
That’s exactly how I render my tallow. And I agree with others, your children are definitely blessed! Now that I know, and try to practice all of this, I wish I had known it when I was your age, and my children were young!
Great information about herbs, drying and making teas. Thank you very much. God bless y'all and keep growing. P.S. I have basement envy! ( I grew up in Nebraska and always had a basement, but no basements or root cellars here in TN due to rock and high water levels).
Hello from New Zealand. You two are the best. ❤️ 👨🌾This is how I grew up and how my husband and I mostly live…..eating from our garden and from what I make. I try to stay away from the supermarket too. It’s so lovely how you all work together and your children are so sweet too. We have a wonderful plum tree that fruits in January, our summer, and I like to make sauce, chutney, and bottle/can the fruit for winter desserts. It’s very hot at that time of the year but I do it anyway. And here we are in winter now eating stewed plums for breakfast and desserts .
Just thought I'd tell you guys that I watched one video and I was hooked and I had to binge watch everything except from that point forward and I never miss one of your videos I absolutely love your Channel you guys are such great teachers I cannot believe how much I've learned from you much I have learned from you both keep up the great work❤ love your Channel
I'm not sure if this has been said yet, but the yellow cottage cheese is normal... it's bleached before it goes to the stores. I don't like cottage cheese but I tried baking it once for a boyfriend... I ended up liking it warm (I used milk and vinegar to "curdle" it. It was basically "curds and whey" like in the little miss Moffett nursery rhyme. Great video and I love your storage areas!!
That’s how I remember a goat farmers cottage cheese looked like. Cooked over stove, it curdled and was quite delicious. Don’t remember what they added, but could have been vinegar and some salt.
We may not be able to get to the place where we don’t have to go to the store for anything, but it sure is nice to not have to buy as much, and to have healthier food!
Staying out of the seed oils also makes you much more resistant to sunburn! I have extremely light skin and now I just tan instead of burn then tan every year lol
You guys are so sweet...you look alike ( i mean that in a good way) The kind of parents you are being to your babies is so beautiful and honorable to the gift of parenthood. Well done you teo lovebirds ❤❤❤❤❤
This has fast become one of my favorite youtube channels. I usually watch videos multiple times cuz I can't wait for the next upload. Great job both of you 😊
So wonderful that you’re providing this lifestyle for your children and that they get to learn from you. Did you guys grow up on a homestead/farm? Who taught you all the things you know about gardening and making your own bread, cheese, etc.?
I, Codi, grew up in the country and owned a horse, but I had to learn pretty much everything homesteading when we started 10 years ago. Michelle grew up gardening and her dad raised veal calves 🥴 She had a lot to learn too. All in all we might’ve had a better start than some, but we still had HUGE learning curves. Now we hope we can help others get a better start 😊
I’m so a new subscriber! You guys make me hopeful that homesteading is possible for me and mine. I’m probably really late and you have probably figured it out already, but I make my own cottage cheese because I eat so much! Like 2 big tubs from the wholesale stores in one week. So I do the yogurt boil setting on my instant pot and then after it’s done I put 1/4c lemon juice or white vinegar(as a last resort 😉), 1/4tsp salt into the 1 gallon of milk and let it sit for 20/30minutes. Drain and add a little whipping cream to the batch. That is the closest I have gotten to the store bought ones. We don’t have rennin readily available here in Hawaii and I’m very impatient waiting for things to be shipped.😂 I probably will be binge watching all of your videos tonight. TBH. 🫠
Hi Michelle your such a industrious clever young woman. I just love the way you prepare your bread. Theirs so much thought that goes into everything you do and make. I love that you don't use the expensive gadgets yet. You both are geniuses together without them. I just love your channel. Your both research and you put it to practice. Awesome, that's what I love about you both and I imagine all this knowledge passed down tto your children. Thanks for your vlog.
In spite of excessive heat during the last 2 weeks here in our area of Arizona, I did harvest two cucumbers this morning - I have a tiny garden so am really happy to have now harvested five cucumbers on the one plant (have 2 more cucumber plants but they are not yet bearing). I support the bush cucumber plants using tomato cages and I have found that works fine (the square tall type at Home Depot or Lowes or Tractor Supply, Menards, etc.). Abt. Cottage cheese - most store type have a lot of salt. Don't know if any or how much was used for your home-made scratch cottage cheese. Glad you enjoyed the finished one.
This is great! We are slowly getting into homesteading and your content has been so helpful. Thank you for being professional in your tips and advice and real in what life this way looks like. ❤
Your children are so lucky that you both provide this life for them. I was raised on a dairy farm and it was wonderful!
I want THIS for my kids so bad!
Hopefully in the next 5 years
Awesome please adopt me , i'm 62, lol
We get all of our dairy /meat from a farm … we gotta start somewhere
Couldn’t have said it better !

I bought a freeze dryer 2 years ago. Basically I use it for eggs and fruit but it was a luxury purchase that I would not make again.
How did you at such a young age learn so much about preserving and cooking, and so much about plants? I admire all your knowledge
Michelle grew up learning and practicing those skills and we have been homesteading together for 10+ years.
I wish your home was a boarding school so I can just learn from you for a month😊❤❤❤❤❤

They aren't expensive at all and will save you a lot of time and grief. Keep dreaming about the dairy cow😉
THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR WISDOM AND SKILLS. GOD BLESS YOU
You're welcome 😁
You guys are awesome! I love how clean you guys are eating ❤ love your videos
I make basic cottage cheese with full fat milk and lemon juice. Heat it and put in the lemon juice. When the curds form it’s done. I just drain it and it keeps in the fridge for a week or so. I add salt pepper and herbs and garlic and then use it over pasta
That’s really cool!
First time watching your channel. You two are so good together. I really enjoyed the content, but more enjoyed how you both are so in to what you are doing. So much information in such a short video.
Thank you 😊 Glad you enjoyed!
Michelle needs her own show "Homestead Woman"!! You guys are totally awesome! I so admire everything you do to live such a happy, simple and healthy lifestyle! Btw, are you adopting? 😊
Same, are they adopting from another country? hah
Thank you! And no...we have no plans to adopt at this point😊
@@morethanfarmers, darn, I was hoping you'd wanna adopt me so I can learn how to homestead correctly. You guys are amazing!! 👏
@@ajrichardson3871 me same
Your wife is awesome and the way your doing this together is commendable keep up the good work
Thank you! Will do!
You are SO inspirational!!! I am beyond blessed to have found your channel (I subscribed this morning 😊)
My husband and I are wanting to get out of the city and buy a home on some property.
Thanks for doing what you’re doing educating the world
Wishing you the best what a beautiful family.
Thank you so much!
Its great watching young down to earth hard working couple as you are !!.Well done.
Thank you so much! ❤️
Fantastic video!! That drying rack is 🔥🔥🔥 😄 We hope to be like you when we grow up. 😊
Haha...Thank you!
First time viewer, and I love this content so much!
Awesome! Glad you're here 😊
I love how one of the kids was scooping cottage cheese out of the bowl!! Lol You guys are awesome!! I glad I found your channel!!
You guys are so cute. Love watching your videos.
Michelle, please teach us how to make sourdough starter and how to make things with it. 😊
Ohhhh waffles 😋😋😋
I ❤how apple mint sounds!
🤩
You're welcome, Jessie!
Your drying racks are awesome. Your Homesteading video is jam-packed with great information.
Awesome! Thank you!
Chickens, goats, and gardens.. sounds like pretty solid homestead to me! Maybe you could also do sheep and rabbits for meat.
I like you guys ! you teaching people what way they suppose to live healthy & cheap way , this is great lesson for the people have big land like you ! we can live organic way if we all wake up together, we can even live without technology!!!❤❤❤
This is my new favorite channel. This is really important information to share. Thank you for putting it out there.
Good to hear 😊 You’re very welcome!
It is refreshing to see two young people, so knowledgeable about the old ways of doing things. Where do you find women that know how to make cheese, homemade bread, medical, herbal remedies, and this day and time?
Few and far between for sure! 😁
That’s exactly how I render my tallow. And I agree with others, your children are definitely blessed! Now that I know, and try to practice all of this, I wish I had known it when I was your age, and my children were young!
There’s a lot of things we wish we knew sooner 😏 Keep moving forward!
Great information about herbs, drying and making teas. Thank you very much. God bless y'all and keep growing. P.S. I have basement envy! ( I grew up in Nebraska and always had a basement, but no basements or root cellars here in TN due to rock and high water levels).
Your bread looks awesome!
Pls. show how the drying rack was made.
Will try to do that!
Sounds wonderful!
So good to hear! Hope you continue to enjoy 😊
You both are great parents, it’s great to see and learn the way other people do things in life and why, I think it’s fascinate it. Great video.
Awesome, thanks!
That’s how I remember a goat farmers cottage cheese looked like. Cooked over stove, it curdled and was quite delicious. Don’t remember what they added, but could have been vinegar and some salt.
Watching you reminded me by my parents and grandparents homesteads. Good Ole Days, happy, healthy full of laughter and learning
That drying rack 👌😍
Brb.. going to find a jobsite with leftover screens 🤣
😂
Just came across your channel. You guys are enjoyable and informative. Also, so happy to hear not everyone thinks you need a freeze dryer. 🙂
Haha...awesome! and welcome to the community!
Yes to that!
I’m praying I can get to this point to where I don’t need to go to the store for anything. I can make it at home where it’s safer and healthier.
We may not be able to get to the place where we don’t have to go to the store for anything, but it sure is nice to not have to buy as much, and to have healthier food!
Safer for sure in so many ways.
I’d love to see how you manage your sourdough starter and then the official recipe you made in this video 🤩
We’ll try to get that in a video sometime!
Staying out of the seed oils also makes you much more resistant to sunburn! I have extremely light skin and now I just tan instead of burn then tan every year lol
I've noticed that I don't sunburn as easily but I didn't know it was the lack of seed oils - very interesting!
You guys are so sweet...you look alike ( i mean that in a good way) The kind of parents you are being to your babies is so beautiful and honorable to the gift of parenthood. Well done you teo lovebirds ❤❤❤❤❤
Well thank you 😊
This has fast become one of my favorite youtube channels. I usually watch videos multiple times cuz I can't wait for the next upload. Great job both of you 😊
Wow, thanks! So glad you're enjoying it!
So nice to see such a young couple truly living this life. ❤
The herb drying rack is genius! Loved this video, thank you for being an inspiration ✨
Thank you so much!!
TBH. 🫠
Thanks for the tip! So glad you’re here. I hope you can find your way to homesteading, and I’m glad we get to be a part of it!
Just found your channel ! You are lovely ! So genuine and adorable ❤
Thank you so much!!
Great video. I agree that avoiding the grocery store and all of its additives is so much better for our health. 😊
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoy 😊
Thank you all very much. My wife and I enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. God bless y’all.
Love this !!!❤
Thanks for this info. I have been slowly replacing ALL store bought products for years. Taste much better and healthier.
That’s great! Keep at it!
Awesome! Thank you!
Your children are lucky to have parents like you.
Congratulations on your success.
Doing a great benefit to your kids!👍👍👍
Thanks Jorge!
