House Extension Home Renovation with New Kitchen - Start to Finish, From Ground Work to End Result!

- We are photographers and film makes by trade but love a little bit of DIY and design. This is a short film we created over the 12 or so months we spent renovating and building an extension.
We had professionals involved in all the major parts of the build however did a lot of work ourselves.
The intention was to create a large, open, naturally lit space which house the kitchen and family area.
The space is the heart of our home now, and as a family we spend the majority of our day here. From breakfast, we have a desk and machine set up for those long days working from home, dinner in the evening and then adjust the light for Netflix in the evening.
Lighting is incredibly important to us, I guess this comes with our actual job! We wanted the dining table to have pin lights really highlighting the souls of the kitchen.
Whilst the feature wall has architectural led lighting cascading a soft glow downwards.
All the main ceiling lights are on dimmers, whilst the blue neon sets the tone and adds an electric glow throughout the day.
The windows are designed to give us a view of the garden. Which we landscaped and put further lighting in, extending the view and Colour’s in the evening.
We are delighted with how it’s all turned out and it’s been a blast working in it! Thankfully 2020 gave us a lot of excess time to learn new skills and enjoy the space as it developed. - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต

Cooo. Wait till my ol' man sees this one! We're decided we will have an extension built.....but have zero idea of what we actually want, other than the shape of the extension, and knowing that we really, really must get some more useable/liveable space from it! We'll be relocating the kitchen from the front of the house to the same location as this one: just what we would have, where it would go....we are clueless! We want to creat a much lighter home, so extending and relocating the kitchen has got to be the way to go. We scribble down some ideas, continue watching loads of great vids like this, and take our mish-mash of ideas to a really clever architect to do us some drawings that will make sense of our silly ideas lol! Great job. Loved watching it.

Hi mate how much did this project cost approx? And is it possible to do something similar on a diy basis? I basically want somebody to knock my current walls down and secure them. Foundations and maybe a few other bits and bobs, but the the blockwork, flooring, plastering, carpentry and kitchen fitting I want to do myself. I’m not in a rush so I do not need 5+ people on site at the same time

Hi, would you be able to tell me the rough price of the extension, so like, 20-30k, 30-40k, etc including Windows and doors. Not the kitchen etc. Purely the build costs. Hi Laura. The main builders we used I wouldn’t recommend, we ended up having to a lot of the finishing ourselves. The architect was a friend of my wife’s, I’ll post his details. 👍🏻

Why not use Styrofoam instead of rockwool?

@@KrisMcDonald dont get me wrong, im not saying its incorrect for that building method im just trying to understand the reason behind it.
No gap of 20cm between cooker and worktop,gas safe regulations
