I think by the time they figure out their big bad Thanos-type villain for the future of the DCU, they would start adapting aspects of the MCU style of things. Despite this, I think this is good for a DCU thats starting to build itself up after the DCEU.
Yes they will Adapt the MCU way in the future…For now they’re focused on standalone projects with a little bit of some events which may lead to other projects. Like some events from creatures commandos may lead to events of the Lantern series and Peacemaker season 2.
Also James Gunn way of DCU is to allow new watchers to able to pick a certain project from DCU and watch it without going through many projects just to understand that particular project of The watcher’s choosing.
As a Marvel fan, this sounds great for the DCU. It stands out on it's own as a shared universe. If it did the same exact thing as the MCU, it would just be "Oh another MCU but with their own superheroes. How boring." Than a "DCU"
Another difference is that when the MCU started, it started with everyone's origin stories. How Tony Stark became Iron Man, how thor became a hero, and how the Avengers were formed. But with the DCU, everything is already set up. The Justice League already exists, as well as the teen titans, the suicide squad, and the bat-family.
Tbf that's the best approach for DC. Unlike Marvel where the characters were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby with the intention of having them interact, DC characters were created by different people at different times.
@@AhabweArthur That doesn't mean that having them interact Is a bad idea. It's Honestly way more interesting than with Marvel, since DC characters were created by different people. I do respect this more unique approach James Gunn is going for with how he plans to expand the DCU as it does separate themselves from the MCU's structure format. I may have some concerns but overall Id say I happy with this more laid back approach since James Gunn has made it very clear they want to focus on the story above all else and while Im sure they have plans for the long term and a possible big bad like Darkseid, Nekron or whatever, Id say the DCU is still in its baby steps and needs time to grow before truly flourishing. This is something other connected universes struggle with after the MCU came: they all want a fully connected universe instantly, yet forget to build it up.
Way I see it, back in the DCEU after Snyder was out (Aquaman, The Batman, Joker, Birds of Prey and TSS), people stated the main strength of the films in that period were how they were more self contained and didn’t require an overarching narrative to be coherent and quality. Because one way or another, them rushing it came off as them blatantly trying and failing to copy Marvel. But now it’s flipped. Marvel tried to go back to more self contained stories with easter eggs in Phase 4 and it got to be too much with an increase in just mediocre content on top of it. This could be where the DCU actually gains strength in, especially if Gunn’s prioritizing a quality script and director first and foremost.
@@dylansharp8471 It's true because over the past 23 years , CW ruined DC brand very badly and the pervious WB regime and the old DC administration cancelled 12 live action DC tv shows that never came to fruition at CW namely Aquaman , Justice League Dark , Amazon , Wonder Woman , Pain Killer , Justice U , The Question , Project XIII , Hourman , Wonder Girl , Deadman and Green Arrow and Black Canaries

Kevin Feige: We could have the opportunity to change our world. And you chose to destroy it. Just like Snyder. You have betrayed Superherotron and its people, and you have betrayed me. You are banished...from Hollywood. Go, take the Low Guard and leave. James Gunn: This isnt over, FEIGE.
Just because the stories will be self-centered doesn't mean there will be subtle clues to set up the big event. Gunn did mention that the Lanterns series will have hints to the identity of the big bad for chapter one.
The thing that some people don't understand is that Marvel mostly exists in one area. Most heroes are in New York, with a few set in LA, space, or whatever. DC for the most part has heroes working in their own towns/cities. They were never going to be as connected as the MCU. Sure, they'd share the same universe and have a few team ups here and there, but making it more like Star Wars where the projects are their own thing and loosely acknowledge the events of other stuff on occasion makes perfect sense.
And besides, in the old DCEU, some of its best movies and one show were doing their own thing and not trying to be a big crossover like the bad ones. So I see this as James Gunn following the formula that works best for DC Projects
I'm pretty sure they will eventually do a connect universe, it's just that it won't happen for a long time until they've got their main roster sorted for the justice league
I think there will still be alot of crossover and reference they just mean that you won't have to do homework to understand each project. Which is the right way to go 🔥
I kinda get James Gunn's vision for expanding it's universe a bit because we hardly have any Superheroes on the screen as of right now. Major heavy hitters are yet to debut along with the JL forming first and foremost. I hope they make canon Batman a bit more like the Brave and bold but still sticking to the grim and fantastical theme of his.
I definitely prefer this cause a lot of MCU movies suffer from unsatisfactory conclusions cause they build up to something, Ant man 3, Captain Marvel 1, etc
I’d prefer if it did have an overarching big bad or at least for each character but this still sounds fun. Even the DCAU had some big team up vs big bad moments
I love what I’m hearing from Gunn , I’m tired of the connected universe & im a big MCU fan but it should’ve died a hero at endgame & rebooted however it has definitely lived long enough now to see itself become the villain

Focus on more single stories at first but then get the crossovers coming in. Lanterns will have hints to the overarching story of the DCU and we will hopefully get a Justice League movie
I mean this is what you are supposed to do for STARTING a universe. MCU did the exact same thing. When I was new to superhero movies, I watched the first 2.5 phases of MCU in the most disorganised pattern but I never lost track or missed a subtle reference
I honestly think this sounds good, some of the characters that will be used in the dcu honestly would not make the best combination, the characters are like different ingredients the mcu makes a good new combination soup while the dc characters make a very weird tasting soup, that is why the dceu didnt work they tried to change tones to fit a story like that.
This also seems easier for a casual viewer to just jump in and watch whatever they want without feeling like they have to watch y he other movies to understand the storyline
Feel like this could work but the stakes can’t be too high in a lot of projects because if it’s world ending stakes people gonna ask where’s the justice league where is Superman or Batman or any other hero. They can’t have world ending stakes every movie or show they need to be low enough that it doesn’t have us asking where the other hero’s are but high enough for us to care like daredevil did. I can't wait for James Gunn's new DCEU here's hoping to be better than the original DCEU which I heard Wasn't all that good but I kind of enjoyed the movies
Finally DC not copying MCU. That has always been the problem. This new plan makes sense for elseworld projects too. They all are separate yet exist under one hood like comics
You know if this is true, the MCU might be cooked for sure. Unless they take note of this, especially since it was hinted at that "Avengers: Secret Wars" (2027) is set to soft reboot it (similar to how "The Flash" did with the DCEU and will be using the DC Animated Universe and Young Justice as heavy inspiration for the DCU and use the DCAU as a blueprint for it too here) So, maybe Marvel could take heavy inspiration from animated Marvel shows like; "The Spectacular Spider-Man, The Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes, X-Men '97," and "Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur" and use EMH as a blueprint for a possible future MCU soft reboot and give us that classic Marvel Universe we all grew up with *EVERY* character home in it after getting the distribution rights back after selling them away due issues of going into bankruptcy before at the time. Especially since their "Multiverse Saga" has had a few problems after "The Infinity Saga" ended with "Avengers: Endgame" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home" as an epilogue for it too here
The DC fanboys need to chill, it’s cool to be excited, but I see some comments talking bout how DC will be peak and shit. Superman is not even out yet. This whole thing could be trash if done wrong. Idk why people be celebrating too early.
Speaking of which, I do hear that 2027's "Avengers: Secret Wars" might potentially possibly soft reboot the MCU and give us that more properly unified classic Marvel Universe we all grew up with *EVERY* character in it before here. As I heard was hinted at before here

The rest of the franchise doesn’t
Wait so is there gonna be a new peace maker season and when
Will the DCU be better than the DCAMU?
Captain America brave new world is doing reshoots as we speak
Bro, If they want a main villain for every Justice League Movie in The Trilogy just like the MCU did, I choose:
Justice League: Lex Luthor
Justice League Part 2: Braniac
Justice League Part 3: Darkseid
I can't wait for James Gunn's new DCEU here's hoping to be better than the original DCEU which I heard Wasn't all that good but I kind of enjoyed the movies
Finally DC not copying MCU. That has always been the problem. This new plan makes sense for elseworld projects too. They all are separate yet exist under one hood like comics
I’m watching the Cleveland show
I just want a perfect batman in dcu.
Especially since their "Multiverse Saga" has had a few problems after "The Infinity Saga" ended with "Avengers: Endgame" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home" as an epilogue for it too here
They Give Booster Gold and The Authority but not a BATMAN BEYOND MOVIE?
I hope the movies are just good tbh
The DC fanboys need to chill, it’s cool to be excited, but I see some comments talking bout how DC will be peak and shit. Superman is not even out yet. This whole thing could be trash if done wrong. Idk why people be celebrating too early.
They are literally giving Amanda Waller a movie instead of making a proper Flash Movie
All I want is a good flash LA movie out of the new dcu nothing else
I think this is what DC movies desperately need. Movies/shows that explore and show the characters full story, not just fights.
I feel like this is what the MCU is turning into now. Not everything we watch is important for secret wars.
Then again not everything we watched was important to Infinity War or Endgame, you didn’t need to see any of the shows or GOTG Vol 2 to understand it
Speaking of which, I do hear that 2027's "Avengers: Secret Wars" might potentially possibly soft reboot the MCU and give us that more properly unified classic Marvel Universe we all grew up with *EVERY* character in it before here. As I heard was hinted at before here
Star Wars is goated
Cool
Like comic runs lol
Interesting🤓
