So all of their children (Barbara, Euginia & Thomas Lightwood, Anna & Christopher Lightwood and Jesse and Grace Blackthorn) are cousins. Gabriel is married to Cecily Herondale, the sister of Will Herondale, so Anna and Christopher are also cousins with James and Lucie Herondale.

Warning-Spoilers!! Does anyone know what the significance of the bracelet is, the one that Grace gives James by the gates of the Blackthorn property? I remember when Grace confesses she dosen’t love James, she rips it free from his wrist, but then puts it back on when he is recovering from his injuries sustained during the battle with his demon grandfather. She apologizes when she does this, but I don’t understand why. Is the bracelet some sort of enchantment that possesses James? Is that why he can’t truly love Cordelia? If anyone has interpreted this scene differently, please leave comments. I just finished the book and need to know.
The bracelet is an enchantment that makes James love Grace even though he really doesn't, that explains why he wasn't so affected with their break up because he wasn't wearing the bracelet anymore and he can feel his affection for Cordelia more clearly now. In the epilogue, Belial mentioned to Tatiana that James wasn't wearing it when he came to the shadow realm. With that, I think the bracelet makes James command whatever Belial/Grace (in that matter) wishes for him to do. Belial didn't succeed with his plans for James because the bracelet wasn't worn by him + Cordelia saved him.
as dome others have said it,the bracelet is the only reason that makes James think he loves Grace. This clouded his feelings for Cordelia.The reason James could kiss Cordelia so freely in The Whispering Room is that the bracelet was off,and he could think straight,about his feelings for Cordelia.

I read chain of gold without knowing any other shadow Hunter books existed and found out when I finished it 😬 I was abit upset but it made sense and i really enjoyed it and look forward to reading the rest in a sensible order
I’m the biggest fan of TID but stopped reading due to being too busy. I’m so glad this book came out, I feel like it will help me get back into reading. I love love love the Victorian Era so this is super exciting to me. Might have to reread TID because I read it when it released which was years ago. I remember the story but forgot most details, so I feel like I need to reread it just to get back into it though I’m NOT looking forward to Will (don’t wanna spoil it) because wow, it was so sad! Literally just got the collectors first edition of Chain Of Gold and I’m so excited as I’ve been reading shadowhunters since I was 14 or so (I’m about to be 20 this year so it’s been a bloody journey)! I was supposed to reread the series before it came out however, uni is really making me its bitch right now so, thanks for this video it was so helpful.
I've been to 5 different bookstores in my country but I've yet to find this book :( I've been waiting for this book for 4 years and now that it's finally out I'm dying to get my hands on it!!!!
I actually took notes when she explained the family relations because I read the first chapter and I didn't remember much from the Infernal Devices and I was like "WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE". So thanks hahaha

I received a sample of Chain of Gold in my owlcrate, but I've never read any books by CC, and now I am nervous bc you named so many characters with so many names 😂but this was actually very helpful and makes me want to pick it up!
I read city of glass out loud to my granda and we finished it the night before he died with plans to continue the next morning. I lay on the floor that night just chatting away to him and i fell asleep at 5am at 520am my alarm went off so i could go to work and he was gone.He will be gone 6 years this year. I love when the new books come out but it also breaks my heart all over again that he cant continue in the shadow hunter world with me.
I’m so sad. I got Chain of Gold today only to take it out of the box and find the front pages badly crumpled and folded with weird stains on it. Going to have to get another copy tomorrow.
I had a snow day yesterday and I legit spent 4-5 hours creating a big shadowhunter family tree because I just started ghosts of the shadowhunter market and I’m VERY confused 😂😂
