    I have a Z1 with about 50 miles on it. I'm 5'10, about 200lbs with my backpack and all my stuff. I can get about 10 miles of range on mine before I'm out of juice. My area is rather hilly, but not like San Francisco hilly. I can GPS log it at 20mph and it stays there til my dash light turns red. Really debating about this mod vs just upgrading to an RX or even a Sur Ron. The weight is fine and I can carry it up and down from my 3rd story apartment without any issues. Also, I equate pedalling to being a little harder than a BMX bike. I've heard of larger people riding the Z1 but I wouldn't recommend it and that's the main reason I'm debating about going for the RX or Sur Ron. Overall, stellar build and thanks.

      I recently bought a z1 on their Black Friday deal. I ended up saving about $465 with the shipping paid for and an additional coupon $100off they on top of that I was never charged tax at checkout! That being said I bought this as a bike for my daughter that I could also use whenever needed. I’m 5’10” 225lbs and I’m actually surprised that it will get me up any hill much less a steep one. But to my surprise with some peddling it does a pretty fair job. I too run the “RIDE” app and to my surprise I’m getting around 17mpc! My daughter who 5’ 110lbs gets about 22mpc! We do pedal some but it’s mostly throttle riding. I think I may have been one of the fortunate ones to get a decent battery. With all that being said if I hadn’t gotten that deal I’d feel pretty ripped off! For $1500 you can get 3x the bike elsewhere. You might not get the coolness factor but most likely you will end up with a better bike in the end. I still bought the z1 because I knew I could upgrade this bike better than the zx for the same amount of money. Something interesting though is I also have a rad mini and the stock z1 is faster and somehow gets me up the hills easier??? Not sure how a 36v 500w motor is beating out the 48v 750w on the rad mini? Wondering if it has something to do with the pedal assist?

    At 10:35, your screen shows about 20 miles and 25% of battery remaining. Were those 20 miles done on one trip? If so, would you agree that maybe 20 miles of range is expected if you are going to ride the bike hard?

    • @RunPlayBack
      @RunPlayBack  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Bill! That's a good question, honestly I can't remember as I've been doing that same route every day so all these rides start blending in. :) However, it could also be around the time I was testing power monitoring settings which may have been a little off. That's something I need to take a closer look on calibrating. A more accurate reading would be the voltage which is roughly 52v full charge and 40v cutoff. I wouldn't recommend riding until cutoff to increase longevity of the battery. Yeah my best guess is around 20 miles range riding it hard. Honestly, my days are pretty full I just haven't had the time or need to ride far enough and long enough for me to test that as I live right near downtown. I will try soon though!

      I think it's the battery level damping setting. Like a way to calibrate your battery voltage display. It seemed to work fine at 0 for my battery.

      Would it be alot of trouble to install a larger Hub motor?

    • @RunPlayBack
      @RunPlayBack  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chrisMc1972 not really...you could probably find more powerful hub motors that would fit the dropouts. The issue is pushing 48v into it. You'll probably get lower battery life and more voltage sag. 500 or 750w seems like the right size for this build.

      @RunPlayBack  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mattrussell8958 That's fair. Those parts came in after the first video so it was more of an overview than a complete install. But for the solid state switch you basically just connect it between the controller and battery - super simple. The lighting is using a 12v step down and I'm using a Y splitter from the solid state into the step down and I just run positive/negative connections into the lights.
