    On my LEXUS GX470 (SAME System) I prefer and used the red grease, now I use the synthetic green grease on the universal joints because red and green grease are designed to work best on higher speeds. Inside the universal joints rollers move back and forth at very high speeds.
    For the front and rear yokes I use the moly grease (dark gray with graphite), design for slower moving parts with higher torque.

    The point of the manual instructing you to fill it until you see the old grease slip past the seal is to get the old grease OUT of the cavity. The oil and soap separate and breakdown, no longer giving you the lubrication properties you need.

    great video dude, how many ton jacks u got? is it correct ppl get 6ton cuz 20" and not maxed out vs the 3ton jacks. plus.. 6ton safer lol rated 3ton per 1 jack

    looks like your rear tailshaft is installed back to front. the slip yoke is meant to be at the transfer case end, not the diff

Before I watch some body video, and I put until grease come out, now I think it’s too much, every time I drive it comes out, and the grease hit the muffler, and I smell burn, I afraid drive long distance, can it get on fire? Can you please help me, how to get it out? Thank you

    Helpful video; thanks. Just curious, at the beginning did you jack the rear diff to place your jack stands?

    Good shots. Does this help with the thumping sound when going from reverse to drive or vice versa?

    • @BeginnersLuckGarage
      @BeginnersLuckGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That might be more of a transmission noise. Mine made a thumping noise everytime i shifted into reverse. I made a video on how to change the trans fluid and once i changed it the clunk went away. Now if it clunks or thumps on aceleration or deceration then its probably the one of the drive shafts and greasing them should help this. Although if you read through the ih8mud forums a lot of people have the drive shaft thump and say its normal and they have always had it. Not sure i agree with that as i doubt lexus would be able to sell a $60K suv that clunks

      inigo@ it will eliminate that thumping sound once you grease your propeller shaft properly. Also pump grease till you see fresh grease coming out of seals. Then you’ll know there is no more old grease in there. People who don’t know what they’re doing shouldn’t be making videos.

    Great vid! Can you make one about rebooting CV Axles?

    • @BeginnersLuckGarage
      @BeginnersLuckGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually have a torn CV boot so I will eventually do that. although I've done this on a few other cars and it is really a PITA at the end of the day i always wished I just bought a manufactured one for $80-90

    • @Blankspace3313
      @Blankspace3313 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where do you buy that?

    • @BeginnersLuckGarage
      @BeginnersLuckGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a tough one. I know Cardone makes Re manufactured ones and I have heard of a few people on forums having good results with them. A brand new one from Lexus is around $400 so i would give the Reman ones a try.

    Does it honestly matter if I use Lucas Red N Tacky grease for the slip yoke and universal joints...

    • @BeginnersLuckGarage
      @BeginnersLuckGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Moly grease is generally used for the Yoke because of the good lubrication under compression. That said, you'll likely be fine with Lucas Red N Tacky.

    Lot of rust down there. Is that what happens in the snowy winter? I live in CA and wouldn’t know.

      Old post, but it's not the snow. It's the salt they used to melt the snow.

    I appreciate you doing this video. But whatever editing you did to cut out frames is way too aggressive... it makes the experience almost nauseating... like it makes me feel somewhere between motion sickness and vertigo lol. Dial it down a little haha.

    Did you use the whole 14oz grease tube? The universal joints required very little. I pumped the rest into the slip joints and still didn't see any grease coming out. Should I pump another tube into the slip joints until grease comes out? This is the first lube on my 00 LX470 with 170K. Thanks for the reminder and info!

    • @BeginnersLuckGarage
      @BeginnersLuckGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Duc only use about 10 pumps into the slip yoke. You dont want to over fill it as it could lead to hydraulic lock situation. If your shaft hasn't moved that's fine I wouldn't go more that 10 pumps in the future

    • @d_nguy
      @d_nguy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      BeginnersLuckGarage thanks for the reply! So I did pump more than 3/4 of the 14 oz grease tube into the two slip joints without jacking up the vehicle therefore I couldn't tell whether the differential had moved. What do you mean by hydraulic lock situation? Thanks

      Check this thread. Over greasing seems to be the consensus: forum.ih8mud.com/threads/the-official-clunk-thunk-driveshaft-thread.401590/

    Grease burning o exhaust freaked me out in the 1st till i figured it out. Bro. Would it hsrm if normsl grease had been injected. Coz i think it has been done to my car & if its not ok should i be replacing it immediately?

    • @BeginnersLuckGarage
      @BeginnersLuckGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should probably replace the drive shaft if normal grease was used... lol. I am totally JOKING!!! you'll be fine. just make sure you use molly the next time you do it. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

    Always grease till the old grease comes out and new grease shows up.
