- Have you ever wanted to hear someone ramble about and analyse the fathers of Ninten, Ness, Jeff, Duster and more? Well look no further! WARNING: This video contains major spoilers for EarthBound Beginnings, EarthBound and MOTHER 3. Please only watch this video if you have completed those games.
NOTE: When I say “Giygas” in the context of Mother 1, I an indeed referring to “Giugue”, his name from EarthBound Beginnings. For the sake of brevity, I use his Mother 2/EarthBound SNES name since they’re the same character.

I find Paula's dad to be the best in the series caring so much you could argue he was overprotective. While Paula's Mom was pretty calm about her going missing. It was a funny role reversal of the usual mother father tropes the series has.
Her father also seems kind of gay. So………………….
George is the "absent father" to Giugue.
Even though Flint was the best father due to more screen time, I find it very interesting what is hidden beneath the layers!
It's heartbreaking when you learn that Wess is the reason behind Duster's limp, but what are they gonna do? They don't have anyone else, and they're father and son. I need to replay Mother 3, it's been a while.
Off topic, but I really would like some Mother 3 AUs exploring the idea of Fassad being a father figure for Claus as Masked man, instead of bluntly making them hate each other or Fassad doing awful things to the child; Fassad being like... Idk Bambi's father..?
While I don't want to say that George had a duty to be a loving father to this alien kid he didn't really care about, I do think it's important to point out that if he did choose to support his Wife's desire to be a family with Giegue then the entire chain of events that leads to the conflicts and tragedies of the series wouldn't have happened
it's pretty cool sering how the mother series potray fathers, Especially wess and ninten and ness's father
as someone with a mostly absent father during childhood just like ness and niten it was cool
Even though my situation weren't the same, far from it even, i can understand how it feels to have an absent father.
I wonder how ness’s and ninten’s dad even got to “have fun” with their mothers if some fans think they are literal phones
Great vid! I'm surprised though that there wasn't a mention of Aloysius Minch though! Your argument for why Andoughnuts is a bad father is compelling and I agree, but would you consider Porky's father worse? On one hand, he clearly had his priorities of generosity and honesty rather backwards, and people are easily and understandably critical towards his discipline methods to Porky and Picky, but on the other hand if there's one thing he did take seriously it seemed to be himself and his sons' well being. Keeping his drinking secret from his wife does seem slippery but it's unclear how damaging that is to his sons' relationship with him, it seems to be worse for the marriage, and you could argue screwed up marriage= screwed up family, but I wager the relationship was rocky from the get go since Lardna wasted no time finding another man. Picky seemed like a good kid, and sometimes you can do all the right things with parenting and still have a screwed up kid, we can't even say he saw Porky through his whole childhood either. It's unclear how to rate him for me, but what he certainly wasn't was a perfect dad.

HOLD IT!!! Wasn’t Dr. Andonauts Kidnapped and Forced to work for Porky? I would hold the evil deeds he’s done against him, he had no choice. Not defending his parenting, but I would excuse him from leaving given Porky’s Time Shenanigans and likely kidnapping him since he’s smart enough to help him pull off his evil plans.
And I doubt that Dr. Andonauts wasn’t Timenapped, because Porky is Old in Mother 3 so Andonauts would’ve been way older than him if he was simply alive through everything. (Likely Dead)

We don't know much about Porky father, but well, it's obvious he was not a great father to Porky and his young brother, at least he is still better compared to dr andonuts.
I really don't understand how you can think Dr Andonuts is worse than Wess, but oh well

Yeah he did say that. Porky propably kidnapped him, and just like every other person or creature that doesn't originate from the Nowhere Islands, possibly brainwashed him and brought him there to continue terrorizing this reality.
