It is against flesh and blood.
The figure of speech used is called an ellipsis. Many misunderstand writings in general if you ignore the usage of figures of speech.
We rather obviously wrestle against flesh and blood. But the emphasis here is on the latter and not the former.

    • @MindForgedManacle
      @MindForgedManacle 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

@brien5 Except that the "Not against flesh and blood" is, in context, saying that the enemy in that case is "principalities and powers", which is why it juxtaposes them. That is, it's not about human rulers.
You're ignoring the context to argue about something unrelated.

@GoodieWhiteHat I think it's even more significant to show humility. I grew up a 6-day creationist until I neared by mid-20s and opposed to marriage equality until my mid-30s. Nowadays I consider both incompatible with my faith and/or the evidence provided in the Bible and the world around me.
I've been wrong frequently and passionately enough that I am immediately suspicious of people who talk with a sense of superiority.

Angels can do other things besides being a messenger.
In Revelation, one angel was given power over the Sun to scorch people with heat.
In Daniel, it required 2 angels to deal with the prince of Persia because he was delaying one of them. Pretty sure they weren't talking about a heated debate.
      Then you have:
-the angel that was gonna kill Balaam
-the angel who killed a whole army in one night
-the angel YHWH sent to cause pestilence on Jerusalem
There's no reason to believe angels can't be royalty. In fact, some scholars believe that the passage in Daniel implies the prince of Persia was an angel himself!

As a woman- this is why women should NOT try to decipher, explain, assume, or interpret from “their point of view”. We women are highly emotional creatures who get our emotional thinking ahead of our logical thinking. This is why Eve was targeted by the serpent. Eve got her assumptions and feelings ahead of the logical commands from God who gave it to Adam who gave it to Eve. We cannot be deceived by believing the “they said” from internet people. Jesus said to “Watch out that no one deceives you. Many will come in my name, claiming “I am the Messiah”, and will deceive many.” Matthew 24:4. This also means to watch out for false “Gods word”. Not all “bibles” are Gods word. History is so incredibly important to carefully study. Deep dive into the important facts is essential! And have a Godly man who has wisdom and understanding to be there to lead.

The Apostle Paul - Mentions the Way of Salvation
Paul did not detest the Law of Moses. Paul actually believed in The Law,
but did not understand that God was going to bring in the grace. It had
to first be a sacrifice - and that sacrifice was Jesus Christ.
Paul did not detest The Law but quoted from Moses and explained what Moses
could not explain back then, because it wasn't time yet.
Moses means "drawn out" - and God used Moses to 'draw out' Israel from Egypt. The Hebrews spent scores of years in Egypt, and it was time to
    move on.
The word 'Church' means "Called Out" - by Christ, the Church was called out
of the world to make a people for God.
In the epistles written by Paul, especially Romans and Galatians he explained the purpose of the church.
In The Law in Deuteronomy 32 - God had Moses teach Joshua and the Children
of Israel a song. This song was going to attest what the Children of Israel
was going to do, including turning their back on God.
But... in the end, God would bring Israel back. In that chapter, the Church was foretold due to Israel's idolatry which caused jealousy from God. For
that reason God used a people that were not a people to cause Israel to jealousy. The Apostle Paul explains this in Romans 9, 10, and 11.
    Acts 13:38,39
38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:
39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

This dude sound brilliant with is spawn s-shirt on. Guys do you remember who spawn is? Jesus said know them by their fruits. Its Clear that this youtuber left out on purpose the wycliffe Bible translation dated 1382 that also supports what is written in the Geneva Bible written in the early 1500s concerning Ephesians 6:12 . Now before you read it remember it was translated into old English. This is what the Wycliffe Bible says in its translations of Ephesians 6:12"For whi stryuyng is not to vs ayens fleisch and blood, but ayens princis and potestatis, ayens gouernours of the world of these derknessis, ayens spiritual thingis of wickidnesse, in heuenli thingis."
Now I know the youtuber mentioned words inserted and cosmic world ya ya ya. But you must remember demons are evil spirits the same spirits that possessed and manipulated the Pharisees , the people in the times of Jesus and the governments governors to kill him. Again It was finally though the governments was Jesus death accomplished by Satan by use of a governor named Pilot. If this happened to Jesus and all of his disciples people do you think we are exempt especially when the book of revelation reveals its the rise Government that would eventually rule many to death. Therefore are we fighting normal men and women? the answer is No. On the surface if appears that way. This is what we know a natural man cannot kill it take a demonic spirit to influence and possess to kill and this task becomes especially easier when a government or governors in the government is involved.

Look at an annotated version of Shakespeare's plays - better yet, try reading a couple without footnotes.
It's very rough going, since not only has the language changed *a lot,* but the cultural context is very different and many of the allusions or jokes - which come thick & fast - are completely lost on us now.
Now go back another 1400+ years for the earliest New Testament books, written for a minority sect of Judaism initially struggling for acceptance in that culture, later moving around the Mediterranean and changing its audience and goals...
I find it very hard to imagine how a single translation could cover all that territory well, without having 10× more footnotes than text, and without enraging people who believe their current Bible is the One True Bible, written in English as God intended.
And then there's the Old Testament...

So, I am pretty sure that the ancient greeks were not very much into science fiction, so how do we know that "κοσμοκράτωρ" does refer to cosmic entities, and not the physical rulers of the physical world? What I mean is: which non biblical ancient greek texts do we have to clarify that this word refers to non-worldly entities?
Basically, what's the origin of the word?

  • @wolfewispr
    @wolfewispr 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

but tyndale and coverdale didn't translate into greek. they translated into latin and english. so worldly would have those definitions. and since no one is allowed to read the original greek and hebrew (and some aramaic) including YOU... we cannot verify that the greek word kosmokratoras was the correct word used. Eramus' translation is still a translation, it is not the original text.. The original source would be needed to verify accurately. BUT we do know that "principalities, against powers would establish a spiritual warfare, so... there's no sense repeating that with the word "cosmic" in the same verse since it has already been established. therefore "worldly governors" means exactly what it says as it was translated into latin and english. nice try though. As far as "we wrestle not against flesh and blood" you would be wrestling against the power given to the worldly governors so that is accurate. so it is not in contradiction with the scripture. The problem we run into with translations is they can be as seriously flawed as the king james because humans are translating them. erasmus could have also thrown in cosmic because like the pope he wanted to change it, the reader has no way of knowing. The catholic church removed 14 books of the bible and changed or left out scriptures to suit the catholic ideology. which in its self is a grossly flawed teaching which directly contradicts Gods' word. and it's no wonder why they deleted "worldly governors" as the pope wanted the scripture to say the pope had complete authority over the people and king james wanted it to say the king had complete authority over the people. And you just can't do that with Gods' word saying we wrestle against worldly governors.

0:26-0:31 It was probably Marcion’s epistle to the laodiceans that he wrote in the mid-second century CE that was referred to in the muratorian canon. Like “Luke,” the epistle was likely doctored by orthodox scribes to sound more orthodox (basically whatever tertullian said, but the exact opposite).

A King James-only apologist once gave me an article as to why only the KJV was the word of God. It's sole reasoning was that the preface to the KJV claimed it was written in "the language of the Holy Spirit". That was it. This article literally claimed that the KJV was inspired in a way that the earlier Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic and Latin texts weren't, and even went so far as to claim that God had no regard for "the originals" because now we have the KJV.

The authors of the KJV and the time period the authors lived in is not something that will ever be replicated. They were the literature Einsteins of the time.
While I won’t defend the kjv to the point where I would say it’s 100% perfect, I will say that modern versions are corrupted being that they are copyrighted (unlike crown copyright the KJV holds, theirs is about making money). How many editions is the NIV on? So this is the word of God. No wait next year now this one is buy this one. No wait next year how about this one?
God said his word is preserved for all generations. We only call it the King James Version as a modern thing to distinguish it from other versions. For 400 years it was commonly referred to as “The Bible”. Because that was the common bible.
Modern versions take out the deity of Christ. They changed “saved” to “being saved”. They change “God created” to “God is creating” to conform with Darwinianism. The Bible changes with the times similar to the Mormon doctrine that changed and took out it’s racist parts to conform with the times. Not for me, what God says will never change in my church no matter how many laws the alphabet gang try to change. Reprobate doctrine has been removed from the church.
Look at the state of the church in America. What’s the association? Luke warm preaching and corrupt versions.
The devil has subtly replaced the double edged sword with a butter knife and many Christian’s will never know. It’s kinda hard to know when you’re not on the mission field. That’s where you find out the butter knife don’t cut too well.
Also keep in mind English is the most important language right now for the spiritual war. No other churches send missionaries across the globe to risk their lives like the English speaking Christian churches do. And right now English is the language everyone wants to speak. That’s why so many countries their children learn English natively Asian countries Indian African. I believe that is all Gods plan and has to do with our missionaries.

    Jeremiah 10: The GREAT GOD
6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.
7 Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
10 But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.
11 Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.
12 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
13 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
