For a long time, I thought I have found the "perfect knife" in the Spyderco Sage 5 Lightweight. So much so that I stopped looking for newer knives. Haven't bought a new one for 3 years. Then I organically found this one. The price to performance ratio seems too good to be true. I pulled the trigger on one, waiting for it to arrive now.
I absolutely love my rubato 2. But this one looks even better. Can’t wait to get one.
The knife is so good because Kizer makes it. Can’t beat their quality for a budget knife.
I like this knife and I really dig the scales!
PEI is used in guitar picks too and it works great for that (I’ve used Dunlop’s Ultex brand but there are others)

I have a QSP Canary with the Ultem. But with the Black blade and Hardware . O do prefer the look of the Ultem over the darker material..
I bought some Ultem "Frag" pattern scales for one of my PM2's & don't really care for it because I can't get the knife centered now & I've changed many PM'2 scales with no problems!
Lots of experience with ultem in the form of ultex guitar pics.... been used for a very long time in guitar pics and in my opinion a very durable material for slamming against steel guitar strings... so should be good for knife scales

The petro chemical plant I work at has the patent for and makes Ultem. It’s always weird seeing these ultem knife scales.

I read in a knife group Someone used brake clean to clean their knife and the ultem disintegrated.
so there is ultem and then there is amber plastic lol just like blade steel we trust a company to tell us the truth so its possible it wasnt real ultem or its possible ultem doesn't do what its suppose to do...hard to say which it was if thats true...also I dont know the exact limitations of ultem or PEI maybe it can withstand lots of chemicals but not whats in brake clean, who knows...
@@cutlerylover the ultem was on a demko . Either way should never use caustic chemicals to clean a knife .
@@jpolhamus71 sadly the company that made it doesnt matter even trusted companies have to trust their suppliers, if they buy ultem they expect ultem to be shipped to them but how would they know if its real unless they make it themselves right"? I agree I would never use brake clean for my knives unless it was metal becasue I would worry it might react bad with plastics even a teflon washer if the knife had them

Ultem isn't super durable. I had a set made from a uk maker VP and it cracked just by being on the shelf not even carried! Let him know and he replaced them for the same thing to happen again. In the end he just gave me some g10(over the moon he still sorted it out) but yeah they have weak points for sure.
Very true. It's a very brittle material. Lots of reports about it cracking.

Man i hope the release this with g10 handles for less money $120 for an olight knife is crazy…
In my opinion, Ultem looks like plastic that had been sitting on a shelf in a house where a husband and wife both chain smoked two packs of cigarettes each every day for 40 years and now that plastic after 40 years now has this ugly yellow nicotine discoloration to it👀🤢🤮
