Dude, you were one of my earliest introductions to EDC and a lot of really interesting things. You got me into zippos, knives, personal defense, and so much more. I remember watching your adventures with Gus from when he was a puppy until the day he passed. You've shared struggles and successes, and brought a lot of good to this community. You gave me a different perspective on so many things. There's more to life than social media and TH-cam. Thank you for sharing your life with the world, slow down and do you brother. Best of luck with everything, you've always seemed like such a genuine person and I wish you stability and consistency in whatever you do moving forward.

I've been watching your channel for over a decade. I purchased your cutlerylover hot sauce back in the day with the little knives on each bottle. I'm 27 now and are going through some of the same things you are. In the past month, my wife and I have moved across the country, I've started a new job and am trying to balance work while spending quality time with her. I really enjoy these life updates because they are so relatable to me. I'm excited to hear more stories about your new job and see a tour of your old and new house when you deem the time is right.

I’m also 27 and I remember the hot sauce, when he posted the video. Seems like this is a year of change for all of us. I’m switching jobs myself after 8 years at the same company.

@@robertkidnley93 Oh yeah when Jeff said he needed a minimum of $15/hr 30hrs/wk I started looking up places in his neck of the woods, around me you need a minimum of $22/hr 40hrs/wk and a good credit score to get in roach infested crapshacks where you'll get murdered. Almost everyone I know is still living at home and we're almost 30, a four year degree is becoming a basic necessity just to keep you from living in a car and we're all the idiots who decided to just go straight to work after high school.

@@hornmonk3zit yeah brother no joke I got community college degree and make 22$ ah hr my wife makes more then that and it still feels like we are one bad month away from loosing it all tbh....I dont understand why most jobs need a 4 year degree I have lost out on so many jobs because all tough I have 10.years in my field of work with extra certificates for it I didnt have a 4 year degree...to me it makes no sense to go into debt to make 2$ a hour more but maybe that's the move this country more and more punishes people for traying to not go into debt

Been watching you since 2008! Pretty sure you were like the OG big knife and EDC channel. You really got me into knives and edc gear and also provided so much other wisdom and insight in so many other areas of life in general outside EDC. Super grateful for the years of entertainment and perspective. You do what you gotta do brother, and we'll all look forward to future videos however often they come!

    Hey Jeff,
Been following you ever since the beginning, I found your balisong videos when I was in 7th or 8th grade (2007 or 2008) and while that early content really spoke to my adolescent interests in cool gadgets, sharp things, fire, etc, I feel like I've grown parallel to you over the years in a way that's been so relatable. You played with knives when I played with knives. You enjoyed gourmet, novelty hot sauces when I did. You enjoyed tobacco, vapes, and beer when I did, and you set them aside from your life when I did. You've learned so much about yourself from letting another person into your life unconditionally, and I've had that fortune as well. Every time you post one of these humble takes on life, I empathize and reflect on what I've learned about myself recently, too.
Now, although I still enjoy the cool gear and hobbies, it's your funny story times and heartfelt musings on life that make me really value your channel and your content. You're a special guy who never let the fame get to his head, you've always stayed humble and engaged, and your love for what you do has always shone through. And while I think it's terrible that TH-cam hasn't been as lucrative for you over the last several years as it should have been, I'm glad to know that you get some enjoyment out of sharing your life and producing content. Hopefully as much as we, your loyal audience, get from watching it. Over the years, at every step, whether it was in 2010, or 2014, or 2017, or 2020, or last year, or now, whenever I've gone to the comments of ANY video there are always several people talking about how they've been watching for years. I don't know any other channel on this platform like that. Given how fast-paced the internet is, that kind of longevity is unheard of. You're true old school TH-cam, and you're a pretty damn good guy to boot. I'll always enjoy what you're willing to share on the platform, even if it has to slow down a bit to accommodate life. Grateful for all of the things you've shared with us over the years. And here's to many more!!
    With gratitude,
    Gabe

I was looking at your stats on social blade. The channel subs has seemingly plateaued and the view count is only 360k views a month. I was trying to scroll back to see how big your view count was back in the day but you can only see 1/6 of your videos as it only goes 1000 videos back, so about 3 years. With 6000 videos you’d thibk you’d have a decent view count based on old videos being watched. The algorithm has abandoned you it seems. I thoroughly have enjoyed your videos. Weekly videos might be where you fit in. Take care.

I've enjoyed your content for many many years even though much of it is for things that are illegal/disallowed/hard to get here in Scotland, but no matter what brought me some sense of peace and a constant knowing there would be a Cutlerylover video to watch if the day was rough or times were hard. Please don't disappear but absolutely go do you and get on the grind, enjoy your new job and best of luck with your move and the future ahead, it's as bright as your videos have made some not so sunny days, for me and many others.

It seems like every so often Google changes the TH-cam algorithm and it usually screws the creators. They made some change a few years back which resulted in what I call "the great howling". It apparently hit creators hard in the wallet, as there were many videos complaining about it and the amount of ebegging went up exponentially.
Some channels are now like a commercial with content added.
Some creators even used the "if you don't give me enough money I'll go away" ploy.
I'm glad you didn't go that route, you manned up and got a better job instead.

Like you said, can only worry about what you can control. Keep up the good work.

My first job was custodial work. I enjoyed it except when people left human waste on the toilets on purpose or didn't make an attempt to clean it up their self. Quickly moved out of that into warehousing and while it's tougher work on the body, the pay is always solid and after you get some time in, you can move up to a lead position and have less time moving product and more sit down time managing the other employees.

every single thing, in this entire universe shares one universal truth. it will have a beginning and an ending. When I was 23 years old, my girlfriend died, she was 20. It flipped my life upside down and even to this day still affects my life. one of the only things that gave me any comfort and still does, is understanding that everything has to end, sometimes its unexpected and a shock, it may seem to come to early, sometimes, although rarely, not soon enough. the only thing we can do when faced with a change or ending of something, is to keep on pushing. it hurts, its not easy, but you have to keep moving.

Leave the east coast. It's the best thing I've ever done. Cost of living is not great. With visiting family, etc, with modern transportation, it's easy to get tickets to visit if you need. Like in Dallas, there's random jobs available that pay more/ hour and the cost of living is significantly less.

Jeff, I’ve been watching, off and on, for most of these 16 years. You’ll be forty soon, I’ll be 50. I understand where you’re at. We all have moments where things change. I’ve been divorced; I’ve been widowed. I cannot agree more. Things change, things end. I just wish Christina and you the best, and I’ll still be here, watching.

Dude, I'm 70 years old. I'll share some unsolicited advice. Do whatever you have to do to get ahead while you're still young.
You don't want t be scratching around looking for a crummy job when you're 65. If you're not going to go back to school and acquire some marketable skills, get a civil service job, any civil service job with a pension and benefits. It's important to pay your dues up front so you don't have to pay it on the back end. Grow up and don't complain about working nights and week ends. I did that for over twenty five years. As a child, my family had no money. I joined the army after high school, went to college on the GI bill. I worked numerous crummy jobs on nights weekends and holidays. I finally landed a cvil service job with my city. Again , I worked nights weekends and holidays. I now collect two pensions, I have full medical and dental. My house is paid for. I still work part time but I'm not 70 years old standing on a bus stop in the winter to go and clean offices in order to pay my rent.

Jeff lives with his family, and working 40-50 hours week on any shift shouldn’t be a big deal.
It’s super important to save for retirement when a teenager. Investing begins with $100,000. It takes $750,000-$2,500,000 for a good retirement and a good pension plus $1600-$1800 month social security.
People today put fun before sacrifice and getting ahead. Foolish mistake! Compound interest and passive income is boss!
Btw, I started with $2000 at age 16 and when I was 28 hit $200,000 saved and invested. That’s how you build an easy life. Spend a little save alot, and work 50-60 hours to get there faster.

Jeff, been watching for a decade, I know you have discussed it in previous videos but have you really sat down and looked at specifically trying to grow/develop the channel into a position where it can support you and your wife? If you really invest in the channel over the next few months to a year you could be in a drastically different position in life. Consider reaching out to some of your TH-cam network to find someone who has experience growing/managing a TH-cam channel enough to support themselves. You seem like a genuine guy who truly cares about his viewers, we need more of you spreading your thoughts on this platform.

There has to be a way to revive this channel in some way so you could continue to make a living on TH-cam. Weather through sponsors or doing cutlery lover branded merch, there are so many ways for you can make far more money on this app than doing full-time work for 15 bucks an hour. If you did a knife release every month I bet you could make a killing. Either way good luck to you and glad you're still making videos
