  • Don’t blame yourself, it could be your equipment. Jimmy, Mark and well, pretty much just our beloved Ryan Muckenhirn, talk you through the things you should check on your rifle and in what order to rule out inconsistencies in accuracy. We also cover how and why issues may manifest so you can spot them easier. We’ve all experienced accuracy ghosts - those things that seem unexplainable. You tear your hair out and burn ammo trying to ferret out the culprit and remedy the problem for days and possibly weeks. Maybe even never. You’re not alone. Listen in to this enlightening podcast and you may just regain some sanity and learn how to get that rifle-rig shooting straight.
As always, we want to hear your feedback! Let us know if there are any topics you'd like covered on the Vortex Nation podcast by asking us on any one of our social media platforms and using #VortexNationPodcast.

Thank you, thank you and thank you Trent. I just started getting into rifle shooting. I got a 223 Wylde for an AR. Because someone told me it's a great starting place. I replaced some cheap scope I had with a CrossFire II. My groups were three times the size with the CrossFire. I thought I had good enough feel for putting it on the scope. I did not want to over tighten the screws. I was using the little torx wench that came with the scope. From an earlier video, I did not use any thread lock. But nothing worked. I just got a torque wench. I torqued the mount then the rings. I should have done it right from the start. Like you guys talk about. I also learned don't buy cheap bullets. You get what you pay for. Not all bullets are the same. Thanks again guys. Love the videos.

I know a guy that does elr/ulr shooting and he had a weight that slid up and down the barrel and once you started grouping the way he wanted with a specific load you could clamp it down. I think it was called a barrel dampener that turned the barrel harmonics to a specific load or at least that's what he said he used it for...

I work at a gun store. In my experience, the vast majority of factory mounted optics on combos are mounted improperly. (Lower end ie. Savage, Ruger etc.)

That certainly can happen. Never a bad idea to re-mount or even lap the rings that are commonly used in those packages if necessary to get a proper mount.

Of subject from this particular video, but can you do a 10 min video on the 280 AI. Just built one off my tikka t3x. Started out as a .308.
