dude this is awesome, you can tell its technically more difficult to ride than a dirtbike but you can tell you were having a blast on it, please look after the atc, im in australia and i own a 200es and a 250es and these are becoming increasingly harder to come by. Keep the ATC spirit alive.
Hi Tanner, love your content, I had my first 3 wheeler in 1980 a 185cc and then bought the 250cc Big Red in 1982. They were both awesome, they could go where no 4 wheeler could (back in the day) lol, Couple of tips if I may offer them, always keep your feet on the pegs, more than one person ran over their leg lol. 3-wheelers will wheelie forever but remember you cant get your legs back if they go over to far and lastly, keep the rear tire pressure equal, they will pull bad to one side or the other when pressure is not even. You brought back some memories with this video.... Thanks....Cheers from Cape Breton Island, Canada ( I still ride a 250L)
I went on a 80mi woods/fire road ride with a group of quads. My 82 big red 200e made it no issues. Swapping bars with older guys on much larger faster quads but they didn’t have the same skill or balls so I hung with um.
Loved the video, yes there is a learning curve for those that did not grow up with these before we had a huge choice for quads. I love my cherry condition 84 200es. Just gotta know how to ride them, its way more nimble on the trail than my wife's Polaris 500 Sportsman. Keep ur feet on the pegs, learn to shift your body weight and how to "kick" her around with the throttle. Your backside will give up before Big Red does. They will also float, done a couple crossings with my feet up on the handle bars and the rear wheels churning water as we floated across the stream! Stay safe out there, wish we had trails like that in Indiana! Badlands off road park is about as close as we get.
I had a 200 X, which you would love. It’s fast, light, reliable, but kickstart only. If I could find one I would get the 250SX which has shaft drive, reverse and decent power.
Leave it in high for mudholes otherwise it can't spin fast enough to clear the tires. When you're turning around in a muddy area like that weight the inside footpeg and shift your weight to the center and hammer the throttle using the pegs to force the rear end around like you're drifting. Make sure you commit to it because if you let up and it regains traction you'll roll.
Man, my first bike was a Honda 185s and ate shit at first, quite a learning curve with 3 wheels. It did give me skills that transferred to 2 wheels later on though. If you don't die from a 3 wheeler landing on top of you~ you are good man 👍
Definitely an 84 200es. Definitely needs a valve adjustment, if it doesn't have an aftermarket pipe on it then it has a exhaust leak (pretty much every 200 does lol) carb clean and jet it for the leak
Attention Deficit knew another guy Buddy in High School who had the ATC250R... Kid was ABSOLUTLY CRAZY on it!!! 2STROKE CR250R motor in a 3wheeeler!!! What the heck was HONDA engineers thinking to release these to the public, Hahahaha!!! Dude would powerslide corners with those smaller diameter squared off hard compound race slicks... ABSOLUTE CRAZINESS even to this day!!!🤣🤣🤣🤙🏽
The rear fenders weren't long enough/sturdy enough in front of the rear tires, older quads same way (Honda, Suzuki etc) where you could get pulled under the rear tires just as quick if you weren't paying attention 😜. But yeah seriously sucks there's dumb people who sue anyone or anything because they have no self accountability. I think with better/different legal counsel, whitness's trial proceedings most of them lawsuit case's would have been thrown out today.
Bro my face hurt from laughing during your whole vid!!! Nothing like putting around at safe speeds where ya don’t have to worry about maiming oneself, lmho!!! Dude just an idea??? A lot of times after my toys sit for a bit they sometimes tend to be a lil hesitant firing... I’ll pull the air box lid and shoot a couple lil sprays of QUICKSTART fluid right into the intake and spark plug hole... what’s good about the stuff is that it emulsifies ANY dirt or gunk cleaning your Jets or Injectors WITHOUT having to dissemble the whole fuel delivery assembly!!!😇👍🏼 even pour a healthy amount of SEAFOAM into your tank and blast around a few rides and that should help loosen things up a bit even after it sits She’ll run like new again... USALLY, lmho!!!🤣🤙🏽 BTW the Older Gentlemen reminds me of Santa Claus!! Having a BLAST riding Minis in his off season, lmho!!!🤣🤣🤣 Best of luck and have fun!!!😇🤙🏽
When I use to tow my 125m “AKA Bouncy” I had to turn off the fuel or it would flood the air filter and the air box with fuel. Almost killed my self sooo many times on it. But there a blast and are tough as nails...Can’t wait to see how the rest of the day goes
Attention Deficit That’s awesome glad you got it running good..I am looking for a Honda 350X but there either clapped out or super nice and they are asking way to much for both
Had 250r 60 over Wisconsin had pipe reeds thing was death machine dont put your feet down or it would pull you off the machine 1 leg at a time and don t ride behind it the rocks it would chuck would kill you other then being a death machine it wasn extremely fun
Ur gas cap isn’t breathing right or u need so clean spark plug! Reds are notorious for running a little rich and fouling out the plugs. But when it gets started u can’t stop em

Don't listen to all the Nancy's.... 3 Wheelers are a fucking BLAST! You just have to know how to ride them. LOTS of body english and you'll be fine. Big reds are great, just keep an eye on valve adjustments and timing chain noise.... I have a 250SX, love that thing! I'll never get rid of my 3 wheelers, they are just too much fun, but you can't have idiots ride them or else bad things can happen fast. That's primarily why they got outlawed...

Dont kill your self riding a three wheeler isnt like riding a dirt bike or a quard it is its own thing ya gotta shift your body waight alot more hang your butt almost off the fenders so you dont roll or flip

Truth haha! Keep that chain tight.

They didnt make the 250 in 82
ATC 200e Big Red was the only one. They did have a 250R, but that was a two stroke. If memory serves '85 was the first year for the 250es Big Red.

Where does that vent-hose lead to on the gas tank. I have a ‘84 Big Red like this and it has a metal gas tank with no hose so...
Vent hose just leads to the ground, plastic tank is nice to not have to worry about dents but the metal is original and classy.
