Part two is up!! th-cam.com/video/4AvfZNeac4I/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared Thanks for all of the support with this series! Just trying to share some smiles along our adventures 🛵
I forget the channel but someone else did a challenge. It was either a Trail 125 or Monkey 125, but the did "How far can we go on $20?" It was surprisingly far. Also, it literally just popped up in the recommended when writing this comment RevZilla 1,000 Milles Across Alaska!
The Honda Helix was my Dad's favorite scooter. Mom passed in 2009 after battling cancer for 8 years, and Dad was trying to heal a broken arm. ( He broke it on a jet ski at Lake Powell. ) The man was a verteran of 3 wars, he had no fears! Anway, after Mom was gone, he kept saying he was going to buy a Helix and take off and travel the USA. He was 82 at the time. Sadly, he had a stroke before his arm healed. We lost him 6 weeks later. But even in his hospital bed, he kept saying he was gonna get out of the D*MN hospital and buy a Helix. :) I just bought a 2012 Suzuki Burgman a month ago, and I'm getting it ready to go on an epic ride up around the Pacific North West. I just turned 73! I, like my Dad, have been riding all my life. I celebrated my retirement 15 years ago by riding the full length of the Continental Divide on a KLR 650 with 4 friends also on KLRs. Mexico to Canada on as many dirt roads as my buddies and I could find. Dad rode bikes and scooters before my brothers and I were born. (some interesting stories there) Back in the 60s, he loved the Lambrettas and Vespas. But he appreciated the Japanese scooters and always talked about buying a HEllix and taking off on it. I envey you having your wife ride with you. Mine won't even sit on any of my motorcycles anymore, but oddly enough, she loved riding my Ducati a few years back. This video has been a blast to watch! It brings back a lot of memories.
Beautiful way to celebrate your dad, Curtis. I do some riding into Mexico as much as I can on both my Honda maxi scooter SW 600 and my Honda adventure NC 700. Keep it rolling !
Hey Lex, tell Tanner to strap some Earth Magnets on the bottom of the Helix.....it triggers the Ground Sensors and will change the Traffic Lights for you every time. Strap enough on the bottom and you'll never sit at a light again, lol.
Nothing better than a roadtrip with maxi scooter, love you guys. I used to own Ducati, Harley, BMW motorcycles and I sold everything and start crusing with a Honda Forza 300 the best of the best. Subbed
IN 1996 I lost my DL.... bought a $1200 TOMOS Targa moped.... looked like a little motorcycle complete w/ faring but I rode it for the 3 yrs of my suspension. It was a 50cc bike w/ 26" wheels, got 115 miles per gallon & I took her all over the State of Virginia. Love seeing people make do w/ what they've got !! When I see motorcycle videos they all talk about what their bike can't/won't do..... then you see these guys Doing It ALL on very little! I knew before I saw this = I saw an Asian family of 5 all on a small moped & riding it. We can make do w/ whatever we have. peace
My God, I was born and lived in Yugoslavia until the end of the 80's and I had a small TOMOS, it was like the Targa but basic. I had no idea that they had made it all the way to the USA. What an illusion. That if, when it got too hot, it stopped....hahahahaha.
Mine went 32mph but I added an exhaust & better electronic CDI unit which she'd go 44mph. Mine never overheated but the fuel tank was an inside the frame tank w/ a welded seam. It finally vibrated & leaked, but I'd made it thru with no other failures. I washed the front end out 2 times for pulling the front brakes too hard but now I'm looking at a Honda 150L Dual Sport Bike but had to see this video.... you be safe
That is so awesome that you guys went on such a great journey on scooters. I definitely take my hat off to you. It just goes to show people, that you don't need those very expensive bikes to live life and have fun. Cheyenne. American Legion Rider...
Hey! Dude from 'good ol' Europe' here. Loving your Vloggin' style, and the Helix! There is only 1 (!) used bike for sale here in Austria @3000 USD. man, I love that 80ies spirit! Great videos, sweet couple you are, enjoy your trips, I'll be warchin'!
Love it and such a spectacular adventure! I have a 86 honda ch250 and driving around nyc is always an experience, always loved the west side highway back roads, canal, meat packing district, and cutting through central park, . We moved away to northern NY about 6 years ago . I do miss manhattan a tiny bit and being close to the ocean but can always visit :) I'm looking forward to the series.
Thank you for sharing such a great adventure !!! it brought my memories back to the mighty Honda Helix , I owned a 86,87 and a 04' throughout the years, best scooter i have ever owned, trouble free, I live in Colorado and I rode those things year around , more than once riding back home from work after starting snowing !!! . My 86 sold it with almost 80k miles, the 87 with 60k and my 04' with 52k, I never did a long trip like you guys have done thogh, I ride a Honda Goldwing now on my cross country trips . Thank you again for sharing this video. Ride safe!!!!
The Honda Helix RULES !!! So comfy and fun. Definitely the GoldWing of scooters. That's really cool that you know how to work on scooters and basically rebuilt your Helix before the trip. I had a CH250, The Honda Elite 250, basically the little brother to the Helix, 1986 with only 16,000 original miles. I just sold it, and it was in excellent condition with everything working. I'm 55 and SO envious of you guys. My dream is to travel the USA on a bike of some sort and see this beautiful country. Good thing you did it on a scooter while you're still young.
I bought an 87 helix in 1988. It was my intro to "super scooters". I loved it. I now ride a yamaha version the CP250 morphous.. not identical, but very similar. I call it an "updated" helix. I have ridden it 32000 miles in the 10 years I have had it. My longest trip was a bit over 2000 miles, but have ridden through 12 states. Great bikes!
Holy cow what an intro!! What an amazing trip we all had and MINE AINT NO CLAPPER MR OIL BURNER! 😘 Can’t wait to watch the rest of the video this evening on the big screen!!
Great video to watch, thanks!! I am rebuilding one at the moment. The prices go up on these atm. Videos like this don't help 😂 We had a series of two German youtubers going from Berlin all the way to the Northcape in Norway, which is "as north" as Point Barrow, Alaska. Can't wait to experience some little smaller 😅 adventures with my Helix, too.
Awesome stuff, unbelievable fun, really hope uv got lots sunscreen on, the wind burn will be hectic. Well can certainly say uv brought the Honda helix back baby!!!!🇦🇺🤘
Fantastic trip guys. Congratulations! And what a beautiful landscape, it's a beautiful country. I am preparing a similar trip, in two weeks, with one of my daughters with my Zontes 350E scooter here in Spain to France and back, through the Pyrenees mountains (although I have an old BMW R100GS that has travelled a lot with my wife and me). By the way, next time your legs get cold at night, just put on your rain trousers. It solves everything.
Great video and destination! That cold you felt we call "bone chill", sets in about 15-20 minutes after getting off the bike and nothing helps for about an hour. Layering is the only answer. Whatever the temp minus 15 and then consider the length of time/exposure/ride.
Awesome adventure. Good to have someone that shares it with ya. The Helix is an awesome bike. I had the Elite 250 but dreamed of the Helix. Now have 2 Vespa Primavera 150's that are almost at the same level. Thanks for this video. Oh man, made me cringe watching you use a station squeegee to clean the windscreen!!!!!! Ouch.
Nice vacation. It reminds me about my camping trip from Denmark through Germany, Switzerland and France to Monaco and back in 1979 on my GT550 with my girlfriend on the back. I also paid around $1,000 for the bike. Japanese motorcycles and scooters can go anywhere.
To me the first and best max scooter ever made.. I have the uk version trike model with the gold wing box & side boxes.and a full 360 light kit and canopy.
Put many miles on a Helix and sold it 2 years ago and bought a Honda Monkey, Have regretted that ever since. Adjusting the valves on a Helix is the easiest of any motor ever. Don't even need a feeler gage, so simple. They are limited to 68 mph do to the small 10 inch rear wheel, but they will do that up hills and get 65 mpg. When Honda stopped producing the Helix the up roar was so great they kept production for two more years. Great ride great video.
It's an amazing thing to go on such trips. I just went to the California Redwoods with some friends, had a great time, zero breakdowns. Glad that front brake didn't give you any more trouble.
I’m extremely jealous! 2 years ago Slo and i were trying to work out taking our helix’s to Route 66 and traveling west as far as we could on them. Then sell them wherever we stopped and fly home. I wish we did it when we had the chance!
Zip-tied a Packout plate to the rack. The Chinese racks are not meant to hold this much weight so we will have to design a custom rack for the future. That's why we didn't do any off-road activities.
My parents bought 2 Helix's in 1987 they loved em put tons of miles on them. one day my mom was hit head on by a van at 55mph, she lived the bike took a lot of the impact, i credit her living to it . Any regular motorcycle and she'd have died. He sold both . But they eventually began riding again and regretted selling the good helix. during their 48 year marriage and riding those bikes got the most use .
Great video! I'll be making some more comments later, but I'm afraid to start as I have been street riding since 1975, owned four Helix, one Reflex 250, and two Burgman 400. There is no other like the Helix, one of mine could do 70 mph at 70 mpg all day long. The others not so much either mph or mpg. Wonderful video.
hey guys ! Small tip for flying stuff that stings : HEAT.. their venom is very sensitive to heat, so you only need to heat it up, and it will instantly get destroyed on a chemical level.. instant relief guaranteed ! I used to work in a park, and had a pack of smokes JUST for that reason.. i don't smoke, but when i got stung, take a cig out, light it up, puff it a bit to get it nice and hot, get the lit part super close to the stung area (less than an inch, it needs to like burn your hair), then puff on it a bit to get it even hotter, hold a few seconds, and boom, there you go, swelling and pain stop immediatly ! of course, the earlier you do it, the better, as it will still take some time to go back to before it started to swell.. also, make sure the stinger isn't inside anymore.
Ahhh I had a 98 CN250!...... That I crashed into a million pieces while drunk and almost rode off a dead end right into the water. Last beer I ever had 5 years ago. I fucking loved that thing. Couch on wheels. Don't drink and ride kids lol
I just completed the entire length of Vietnam on a Honda Vision 110cc, about 2000km. The scooter is valued at around $1500 brand new, fuel injected and smart key. I'm a hard core motorcycle rider but now converted to scooter in my 50s.
Here in Germany you might buy them cheaply, but mostly shot out things. Kaputt. I paid €1.300 for mine, now two years later it is there where I want it, but I also sunk some money into it. Could have easily bought a new Scooter for the money.
This scooter is a legend a rolling pontoon the same like suzuki burgman an 400 ,for example in suzuki burgman an 400 you have plastic that is about 1 cm thick 😂 and in new models everything starts to creak and squeak, old school is the best❤
Oh you Americans have no idea how relaxing it is to drive a Maxi scooter on long rides, it's like sitting on a soft sofa traveling in style. I hope you guys can buy Yamaha Tmax and honda ADV 750 they are the pinnacle of maxi scoots but oh well they don't import it in the states
Part two is up!! th-cam.com/video/4AvfZNeac4I/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared

Soo good. You prove that you dont need a mega bucks "adventure " bike. Its how you do it, not what it costs. All the best.
Here folks is an explanation of true wealth. Priceless . 🏆🙏
Hell yeah!!! Ive been binging helix content all month. Ill have one by spring hopefully. 👌👌👌

Great editing. The girls need to get their own scooters its more fun solo ;) Greetings from Scandinavia where we also ride Helix adventures.

That would have been epic! Will definitely be doing a trip out West on the hog someday. How’s the Grom rebuild coming along?
If you ever take another road trip, and head through TN and SC, make sure you hit the Smokies andthen tackle the Tail of the Dragon.
How did you attatch your Milwaukee pack out to the back? It looks like it rides nice back there.

What a brilliant scooter design the HELIX I would give anything to ride one it just shows how HONDA has some really good engineers.
It's like top gear but different. I love it!❤😊

Welcome to Pomeroy! Next time you’re this way, try River Roasters coffee, it’s amazing
Tears came to my eyes when you mentioned ground zero. I like many in the world watched in disbelief live on TV.

Alexis is Disney cartoon level adorable
I really want to do a trip like this, seems so fun
I want a PC800. Such a luxury bike lol. Also awesome having built in trunk lol
Tanner- I got an 86 Helix. 4500 miles. Needs tires next spring, how do you like those knobbys? What brand are they? How do they ride?
This is amazing ❤
Great video as always!
Thank you!!🤝🏻
Enjoyed your video thanks for posting 👍
Yes!!! That's Awesome.

Bro super cool!!! Ive got a Huge ride planned out for this spring.
Do any of your videos go over the luggage setup/how you mounted the packout? If so, which one?
I wish that bike sold in my country. Would love to ride it on a road trip 🔥
SO much fun!!
I thought I was watching 'Easy Rider'. Great video!
Did the trip use stock shocks or aftermarket?
If so, what brand did you
used?
Thx G
@@gr7063 that’s for rich people. The center stand bottoms out before the shocks so no need to upgrade them.
If you got one of these in the 80s, you also had a killer swatch collection, and a neon windbreaker.
At about 1:30am my wife would have said have a nice trip and gone to bed.
I just completed the entire length of Vietnam on a Honda Vision 110cc, about 2000km. The scooter is valued at around $1500 brand new, fuel injected and smart key. I'm a hard core motorcycle rider but now converted to scooter in my 50s.
Honda makes some of the best bikes and scooters in the world
How difficult has it been to find parts? Are most parts between the years/models interchangeable? I've enjoyed this trip of yours, thanks for posting.
Travelling on 2 wheels just feels ethereal ✨
You should see the famus german TH-camr Kuhlewu. He and a friend went on two Helix from Berlin to the Nordkap.
Love you guys wish I had done this when I was younger take care
Had one some years ago. Never felt comfortable on the interstate. Ate that 10 inch rear tire. Replaced mine three times in the years I owned it.
Damn, kind of want a Helix now....
im from virginia i have stayed at the same KOA its so fun watching people in virginia
That’s awesome! It was a very nice KOA.
Love the videos, could you tell me where you got your top box. Thanks
I gotta say, I have a 1989 Honda Goldwing but I’m more intimidated to work on that Helix than I am on my own bike!
I would say the same thing about a Gold Wing haha!

Could you give us a link for the sketchy handlebar mount?
Oh you Americans have no idea how relaxing it is to drive a Maxi scooter on long rides, it's like sitting on a soft sofa traveling in style. I hope you guys can buy Yamaha Tmax and honda ADV 750 they are the pinnacle of maxi scoots but oh well they don't import it in the states
I used to have a Honda reflex. Took it on a few trips, but that single cylinder made my butt so sore after about 90 minutes.
The funniest part is the pair of crocs hanging from back of the bike 😁
I hopethis style of bike/scooter come back, we want modern akira bikes
good fun thank you
