A USB hub should work. The 2.0 or 3.0 standard would depend on the USB to HDMI adapter being used. Your best bet would be to use a USB 3.0 hub since they are backwards compatible. I would also recommend using a hub that has an external power adapter instead of being powered by the USB port.

I have an USB to HDMI adapter that has the HDMI plugged into my old dynex tv, when I set it to VGA it will show whatever I have pulled up on my laptop but won't allow sound, when I click on my volume setting it shows USB2.0 Speaker and when I click on it everything is mute even though all the volume is up. All that I'm trying to accomplish is dual monitors but I only have one HDMI port on my laptop so I trying to convert one of my USB ports to HDMI. After installing the drivers that came with the adapter, unfortunately it doesn't work. Are the drivers specific to Pixnor or can I download updated drivers from your webpage that will work?
Most of the time they are driver specific to the brand but a lot of the USB to HDMI adapters use the same hardware inside. It's possible the drivers will work.

The quality will not be the same. The dedicated video port (hdmi) on your laptop will have better quality than most of these USB to HDMI adapters. There is a 30 day return policy available for most items purchased on our site.

It will work going from a laptop to a monitor. It will not work going from a laptop to a laptop.

That's exactly how this will work. The laptop will see an extra monitor so you can extend it out just like normal.
