i agree with you there. lol my neighbor is against animal cruelty. but they spay and neuter all their dogs. before we move they stole one of our champion breed pups and neutered it. we found it in their yard and called the cops...and found out that the value of our dog is gone forever. smh.
You idiot cats and dogs are spayed and neutered for their well being unless they're being used for breeding. But most importantly so they don't overpopulate and have health problems later on in life. Rubber bands are the worst way to do it. It is far from humane
First of all, u can tell that procedure is painless if not close to painless, the cow is in full conscious state and u don't see it kicking, struggling or screaming in pain do u?
Secondly, there is no pill that can sterilize a human or an animal permanently (the effect is only temporary so you have to keep feeding them like daily routine), if drugs with such strong effect do exist, it would probably do more harm to the body than physical procedures.
Take abortion for example, many countries ban the use of drugs that induce abortion but they do allow such surgical operations, which may seems more invasive but it is safer than messing your body with chemicals.

All these comments about animal cruelty and castrating being inhumane, you are all more than likely city slickers who have never worked on a farm and have no idea what you are talking about. I have seen castration done on several types of farm animals with both cutting and banding. Trust me when I say banding is the best way to go. It is the safest and most painless way to do it. The band is so tight that all the cow feels is a pinch and then circulation is cut off and everything is numb. The testicles will slowly die and fall off and there is a much lower risk of infection.

I have banded calves many times. Never have they stumbled around, let alone shown any signs of distress as you cite above.
+Brandi Mathis The UK vets authority says that banding on cows and sheep shows that the animals do experience distress and pain for several days. This method is used because it is CHEAP. Like most things in farming its the bottom line. To employ a vet to do this the pain free way would cost money - so this method was invented and a lot of SPIN painted over the whole procedure to tell everyone its "the best way" and "painless" etc etc... just to make sure farmers could keep costs low. THEY do lie to us and THEY always have.
If that bull was in pain, he'd try to escape, kick, or something like that. He seems pretty fine with it, so people who say "this is abuse", no, it isn't. It's only abuse if the animal is suffering.

There's another method using a tool called a burdizzo that crushes the sperms duct.
It's still an accepted practice to my knowledge but it is a bit more painful, the rubber band is virtually painless compared to it

This is the most painful way to go. The painless way would be numbing using something like anesthesia and do it that way. Rubber bands are the worst

Also on small hobby farms (like mine) keeps from inbreeding and such. We only keep one bull on the farm at one time because you dont need many. By having many males just like with any animal, you'll have fighting occur.

The first ever episode I saw of the "Incredible" Dr. Pol was him and his assistant squishing a bull between two metal gates (not the proper kind of restraint as seen in this video) in an extremely stressful situation and slicing off his testicles with no form of pain killers, then laughing as the rest of the cows sensing fear, forced their way through wire fencing to escape as the bull was screaming and bleeding between the legs.
I was absolutely disgusted and refused to ever even consider him a professional.

We raise animals to be food and companions. I love animals and hate seeing them in pain but I also understand we need a varied diet. The animals are clearly well looked after and the animal didn't even flinch during the castration. I'm disappointed to see other animal lovers angry about we'll looked after animals. Focus on the people actually neglecting their animals as this animal is at optimal health, clean and receiving great vet care. I'd source this kind of farm for animal proteins any time for my family. Happy animals means healthy meat for consumption for humans and other carnivores such as your cats and dogs.

I remember wrapping a rubber band around my wrist when I was younger. I forgot it was on there. Hours later my hand started to feel numb and tingling and I didn't know what was going on. I didn't feel any pain. When I sat down my sleeve came up and I realized there was a rubber band around my wrist. Moral of the story: The bull is fine.

Males don't produce milk, so you either use them for breeding, or meat.

Sarah Mosa Animals have many ways of ignoring pain. They're tougher than humans. Its why many prey animals sometimes show no pain when a predator is eating them alive.
Sarah Mosa it cuts off the circulation and over a short period the sack will die and fall off without pain, it's the most natural way to fix a big animal with a huge surgery
Has anyone tried this to make sure it really doesn't hurt? When the part eventually fall off wouldn't there be an infection at the wound? Why not do it properly using anesthetic and surgery?
